Struggling Bruno Fernandes could be given a new role by manager Erik ten Hag in Manchester United’s home match against Spurs tomorrow.

The skipper has been struggling for form and there has been speculation he could be dropped for the crucial game.

However, Ten Hag has other problems, namely, the midfield.

Casemiro has been seemingly banished from the first team after a long spell of poor form. Recently he has been replaced by Christian Eriksen in midfield, with new signing Manuel Ugarte not fully match fit or up to speed with the pace of the Premier League.

However, two matches per week is a big ask for the 31 year old Dane and having started Wednesday’s Europa League match brilliantly, scoring a stunner, he visibly tired toward the end and lost possession at a crucial moment to gift Twente their equaliser.

Eriksen could and maybe should be rested after four games in two weeks, but other than young Toby Collyer or Mason Mount, there are no other options to partner Kobbie Mainoo in midfield.

With three United wingers – Amad, Alejandro Garnacho and Marcus Rashford – all playing well, playing Bruno as an eight could therefore make sense for United. It would take the pressure off the captain to get goals and assists, keep some creativity in the holding midfield area and allow Marcus Rashford to play just ahead of Joshua Zirkzee, who looks more of a 10, in the forward positions.

Ugarte, Eriksen, Mount and Rasmus Hojlund could then be options on the bench to change things up in the second half if needed.

In defence, we think Matthijs de Ligt will be brought back in for Harry Maguire at centre back. The Dutchman was rested on Wednesday and while Maguire did not do too much wrong, De Ligt and Lisandro Martinez seems to be the preferred partnership.

Victor Lindelof is back in training but is unlikely to feature and Leny Yoro is still injured.

Luke Shaw is still injured and Tyrell Malacia is not yet ready to start his comeback, although in theory he could make the bench. So Noussair Mazraoui and Diogo Dalot are likely to continue as right and left back, respectively.

Gary Neville has made a bold prediction ahead of Manchester United’s Premier League clash with Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.

Man United will be looking for three points against Spurs in front of the Old Trafford, particularly after hitting a slump in form.

After being held to a goalless draw against Crystal Palace last weekend despite dominating the game, United once again disappointed during their Europa League match against FC Twente, throwing away their lead to draw 1-1.

Despite failing to live up to their potential so far this season, club legend Gary Neville is refusing to lose faith in United just yet.

“I think Man United are winning that game,” Neville admitted, expressing confidence in his United’s ability to secure the win despite their struggles to score in recent games.

“They struggle to score goals, Man United, but I just think Sunday, it will be a good atmosphere, and Tottenham is always a good game at Old Trafford. I will go 2-1 Man United,” the former club captain concluded.

Neville’s faith will surely be appreciated by manager Erik ten Hag, particularly as frustration aimed at him and his tactics continues to mount.

While Christian Eriksen managed to score an impressive goal against Twente, the team was largely ineffective in front of goal, failing to convert any of their other 19 shots against visibly weaker opposition.

Following the 1-1 draw, pundits and reporters alike hit out at Ten Hag, with Ruud Gullit claiming that the United manager has no recognisable playing style after being in charge for a little over two seasons.

Even more troubling for Ten Hag is that concerns about his ability to take the club forward appear to now be evident from within his own club.

Yesterday, The Peoples Person relayed that United are already looking at potential replacements as Ten Hag continues to struggle to turn United’s fortunes around.

Ultimately, a victory against Spurs might be more crucial for Ten Hag than it may seem on the surface. Should Sunday’s game end in disappointment, the calls for Ten Hag’s dismissal will surely only be amplified.

Manchester United reportedly expressed interest in Tottenham Hotspur central defender Cristian Romero during the recently concluded summer transfer window.

United headed into the summer with plans to revamp their backline after conceding 58 Premier League goals and recording a negative goal difference at the end of the 2023/24 campaign.

The Red Devils were linked with many high-profile centre-backs, including Jarrad Branthwaite and Jean-Clair Todibo, before bringing in Leny Yoro and Matthijs de Ligt to Old Trafford.

Now, Gastón Edul of TyC Sports has revealed Romero was also among the centre-backs United looked at this summer.

It is suggested United, Real Madrid, and Paris Saint-Germain approached Tottenham “to sound out the situation” but the North London giants refused to enter talks for Romero.

Spurs did not put a price on the Argentina international, who has played a crucial role in La Albiceleste’s Copa America and World Cup triumphs.

Having moved to London from Bergamo in 2021, Romero has established himself as one of the first names on Ange Postecoglou’s team sheet. Accordingly, the club’s hierarchy informed his suitors that the player was not for sale.

However, the report adds Romero “clearly will leave” Tottenham to play for one of the biggest clubs in the world due to his “high value”.

As such, Spurs are expected to receive enquiries for their star centre-back next summer when he will have just two years left on his current deal.

Recently, The Peoples Person relayed a report claiming United are planning to add a defender to their ranks next summer.

As such, the 26-year-old could prove to be a smart option for Erik ten Hag, having already shown his credentials in different leagues and on the international stage.

The fact Romero regularly plays alongside United star Lisandro Martinez for Argentina further makes him an appealing target.

Manchester United have officially confirmed the signing of Celin Bizet.

Bizet has joined United from rival Women’s Super League club Tottenham Hotspur and has put pen to paper on a deal running until the end of the 2026/27 season.

A recent report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that United seemed to be on the brink of landing Bizet after triggering the £60,000 release clause contained in her personal terms with Spurs.

She was crucial for the Lily Whites as they wrote history by reaching the FA Cup final against United in May.

Marc Skinner’s side beat Spurs 4-0 at Wembley on that occasion.

Before signing for Spurs, Bizet was at Paris Saint-Germain. The attacker began her youth career at her hometown club Skedsmo before making her professional debut in the Norwegian third tier when she was just 14.

She played for Norway at every youth level and on her senior debut for the national team, found the back of the net against Armenia.

Bizet has made 21 full international appearances to date.

She said about her United move, “I’m very excited to take this next step in my career, and sign for such a great club as Manchester United. I cannot wait to pull on the famous red shirt and create winning moments in front of these wonderful fans.”

Skinner remarked, “Celin is an exciting, talented young player with lots and lots of potential. She suits exactly where we are trying to be as a team — we want young, hungry players, who can make a real difference.”

Manchester United Women are set to sign Tottenham Hotspur attacker Celin Bizet Ildhusøy with the forward preparing for a medical at the club.

The Red Devils started off the summer on a negative tone as they lost the experience of Mary Earps, Katie Zelem and Lucia Garcia.

New owners Ineos were also attacked for their apparent lack of focus on the women’s team as they allowed such experience to walk out the door and Sir Jim Ratcliffe admitted, controversially, in an interview that the male team were the priority at the moment.

Nonetheless, Marc Skinner’s side’s summer improved as it went on with Dominique Janssen, Elisabeth Terland, Melvine Malard, Anna Sandberg and Simi Awujo all added to the ranks.

There looks set to be a new addition to the team as the BBC now report that “Tottenham forward Celin Bizet is set for a medical at Manchester United as she closes in on a move this summer.”

“United have triggered her release clause which is believed to be around £60,000.”

The attacker was a “key” member of Robert Vilahamn’s team last season and played against United in the FA Cup final victory for the Red Devils last season at Wembley.

“Both parties hope to finalise the deal before United head to Marbella for a pre-season training camp in the next week.”

The 22 year old began her professional career at the tender age of 14 years old in the Norwegian third tier for hometown side Skedsmo.

Bizet would later join Paris Saint-Germain before signing for the Lilywhites in 2022. She scored four goals in 39 appearances for Spurs over the course of two seasons.

Despite her young age, she has already represented Norway 21 times, scoring seven times for her nation.

The Red Devils will be hoping she can, alongside her fellow new additions, help fire the club to Champions League qualification for the first time in the Women’s team’s history.

Manchester United may have strengthened at the back and upfront but the pre-season games have once again served as a reminder to INEOS of the need to strengthen in the middle of the park.

Casemiro does not seem like he can manage another season in the Premier League but with no Saudi teams coming forward for the Brazilian, United are stuck with him for now.

With the Red Devils struggling to offload the former Real Madrid superstar, an approach for Paris Saint-Germain’s Manuel Ugarte has not yet materialised.

One United midfielder who has not been short of suitors is Scott McTominay with Fulham and Galatasaray battling it out among themselves to land the academy graduate.

McTominay’s future

Both clubs have seen multiple bids rejected with the Cottagers open to moving on to other targets should the Old Trafford side not lower their demands while the Turkish outfit are eyeing Manchester City’s Kalvin Phillips instead.

United are refusing to budge from their £30 million valuation considering the player’s goalscoring heroics last term. Erik ten Hag is a fan and wants to keep hold of the Scottish international.

McTominay himself is open to staying and fighting for his place and as per Teamtalk, the 27-year-old is in no rush to leave his boyhood club for a mid-table club like Fulham.

This could potentially open the race up for Tottenham Hotspur. The North London club are eyeing a No 8 and were initially interested in Connor Gallagher of Chelsea.

But with the Englishman seemingly on his way to Atletico Madrid, McTominay has once again become a legitimate target.

Spurs could come back in

“Sources have told TEAMtalk that McTominay is undecided on his future amid firm interest from Premier League rivals Fulham also and could stay and fight for his place at Old Trafford like he did last summer.

“Ten Hag is in no rush to offload McTominay this summer as he still sees him as part of his plans and for McTominay himself it would come as a huge wrench to leave the club where he came through the ranks.

“The Cottagers are not the only Premier League club showing an interest in landing the box-to-box midfielder, with Tottenham also known to be in the mix for his signature.”

But considering Spurs are expected to be top-four rivals and with United’s troubled history negotiating with Daniel Levy, they should refrain from agreeing a deal with the Lilywhites.

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly entered the race to sign Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay.

Erik ten Hag’s side have sprung into action in this transfer window with the exciting, quick-fire signing of Joshua Zirkzee and the imminent announcement of Leny Yoro, after he passed a medical yesterday.

If the Red Devils want to carry out recruiting new players however, they will now need to sell due to PSR restrictions.

It has been widely reported that United want to bolster their midfield and with Joao Neves increasingly likely to be off the menu as he edges towards Paris Saint-Germain, United have been linked to a move for Manuel Ugarte.

The Uruguayan is said to be keen to join United but the Red Devils may not be able to complete a deal unless they sell a midfielder like Casemiro.

Nonetheless, one midfield man who is generating more interest than the Brazilian is that of McTominay, who has just come off the back of a successful season scoring 10 goals for the club.

The Sun report that they “can reveal Tottenham are now tracking the Scottish international” and that United would demand at least £40 million to sell him, £10 million more than last summer’s asking price.

The North Londoners had previously targeted Chelsea’s Conor Gallagher but he is now more likely to stay in West London this summer.

The English paper reports that “Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou is believed to be an admirer of McTominay and reckons he could add a new dimension to his team alongside James Maddison.”

The Scotland international has suitors in Turkiye as Galatasaray have reportedly made a bid for him, but it is highly improbable the Super Lig side will be able to match United’s valuation.

News also broke yesterday that Fulham have had a bid rejected for the 27 year old and that they were considering returning with a second improved offer.

It is unclear how keen United are to sell the player as it was relayed here that the club may extend his contract to ward off potential buyers and The Sun also reports that manager Erik Ten Hag does not want to lose him.

There is no doubt however that McTominay looks a more realistic source to generate funds this summer than Casemiro and as he is an academy product, a potential sale would count as pure profit and consequently augment United’s transfer kitty substantially.

Last season, Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag was forced to tweak his backline almost every week due to an unprecedented injury crisis at the club.

Left-back was one of the worst affected with Luke Shaw missing 36 games throughout the campaign while backup full-back Tyrell Malacia was forced to miss the entire season.

The situation got so bad that the manager was forced to play Diogo Dalot, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, both right-backs by trade, in that position during the business-end of the season.

Earlier on in the campaign, Ten Hag turned to centre-back Victor Lindelof and defensive midfielder Sofyan Amrabat to plug that gap.

LB issues last season

In fact, Malacia is yet to begin pre-season training and the club are yet to provide a timeline regarding his potential return. Shaw, busy with England at the Euros, is expected to take a long break and thus, United are once again staring at the possibility of starting the season without a recognised left-back.

The Red Devils are eager to recruit a new left-back ahead of the new season but are unlikely to sanction a big-money deal considering the reinforcements required all across the pitch.

The club has been linked with moves for Milos Kerkez of Bournemouth, Miguel Gutierrez of Girona, Ferdi Kadıoğlu of Fenerbahce and even Chelsea’s Ben Chilwell.

However. Football Insider have sensationally claimed that the 20-time English league champions are inclined towards bringing back Sergio Reguilon to the club, this time on a permanent deal.

The Spaniard was brought in on loan last summer but only lasted half a season with United terminating his loan deal as both Shaw and Malacia were nearing fitness at that stage. It proved to be a disastrous decision in the end.

The Tottenham Hotspur man was not excellent during his short-term stay but did display plenty of attacking intent and passion but niggling injuries did not help his case.

Spurs are keen to get rid and are asking for around £10 million, a huge hit on their initial £32 million investment. And the Spain international already knows what Ten Hag demands and would slot right in and would need little to no time to adjust to his new surroundings.

Reguilon again

“Man United will offer Sergio Reguilon a route back to Old Trafford this summer as they plot a move to sign him. Reguilon could provide a more straightforward option after spending six months on loan at the club last season.

“The Spaniard wouldn’t need time to settle in due to his past experiences, and sources say the Premier League giants could sign Reguilon at a cut price.

“Even though Spurs initially signed Reguilon for £32 million, Football Insider revealed they’re willing to make a huge loss and sell him for around £10 million. That’s because Reguilon is not part of Ange Postecoglou’s plans, with the Spurs boss wanting him off the books.”

Having a decent backup for Shaw would be a wise investment considering Malacia’s injury malaise. United could do better than the former Real Madrid star but at this price point, they are unlikely to get anyone more competent.

Last season was one to forget for Manchester United and manager Erik ten Hag as the club registered its lowest-ever Premier League finish while also exiting Europe before Christmas.

The Dutchman looked to be heading out the door but for a surprise FA Cup triumph and now with his job secure, the former Ajax coach needs help in the summer to turn things around.

United’s need for reinforcements is clear and with INEOS taking charge of their first transfer window since gaining control of the sporting structure at the club, a busy few months are expected.

After suffering a raft of injuries throughout last season, particularly in defensive areas, additions to the back line are likely to be prioritised.

As reported by AS, United could be lining up a surprise bid for Tottenham Hotspur full-back Sergio Reguilón.

Reguilón spent the first half of last season with United on loan but his temporary deal was terminated in January and was sent back to his parent club with Luke Shaw expected to return to full fitness.

However, Shaw failed to stay fit for long and despite the former Real Madrid star not setting Old Trafford alight, letting Reguilón go was arguably a mistake from the club.

The Spaniard featured 12 times for United and provided Ten Hag with another option with both Shaw and Tyrell Malacia out injured.

The Spaniard displayed plenty of passion and aggression but suffered from constant niggles which did not allow him to make a mark.

The Spanish international spent the second half of the season on loan at Brentford and is almost certainly going to leave Spurs this summer.

West Ham United are another Premier League team showing interest in the 27-year-old who has six international caps for Spain.

The asking price for the full-back remains unclear but with his Spurs contract expiring next summer, United will hope a relatively low fee will do the trick.

Tottenham Hotspur’s opening bid for Manchester United striker target Ivan Toney has reportedly been turned down by Brentford.

The number nine position is an area of the pitch United are eager to bolster this summer. Rasmus Hojlund showed great promise in the 2023/24 season but for one so young, he can’t be solely relied upon to lead the line for the club every week.

United also require quality depth up front, especially considering that Anthony Martial is set to officially depart Old Trafford once his contract expires at the end of the current month.

Alongside Toney, United have been linked to other goalscorers such as Matheus Cunha (Wolves), Viktor Gyokeres (Sporting Lisbon), Joshua Zirkzee (Bologna) and Benjamin Sesko, who recently signed a new contract to extend his stay with Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig.

Toney managed four goals in two assists in the 17 Premier League matches he played last term since returning from an eight-month betting ban for breaching the Football Association’s gambling laws.

Erik ten Hag is believed to be an avid admirer of the Brentford talisman and a previous report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that the Bees want £60 million to part ways with him. It was stated that United are refusing to go any higher than £40 million for a player who has entered the final 12 months of his deal.

United are not the only party keen on adding Toney to their ranks. Tottenham Hotspur also like him and according to Football Transfers, the Lily Whites lodged an offer for him, which was swiftly rejected by Brentford.

The outlet states, “Tottenham had a bid turned down by Brentford for Ivan Toney, who has already verbally agreed personal terms with the side, FootballTransfers can reveal.”

“Sources reveal that while the England international has accepted a wage offer, Spurs’ £40 million bid was rejected by the West London club. Brentford are asking for a fee of £65m but it is understood that an offer of £55m would secure the deal.”

“We are told that Spurs have the financial capability to outbid any competitors for the Bees hitman. However, the available funds will need to be carefully managed, as the Lilywhites plan to bring in five new signings to boost their chances of securing Champions League football next season.”

Toney is not the only player Tottenham are battling United for.

Ange Postecoglou’s side are also in the race for Crystal Palace midfielder Eberechi Eze and as per Football Transfers, talks between Tottenham and Eze’s representatives are set to take place at the end of this week.
