Tottenham Hotspur, after securing the signature of ex-Burnley star Wilson Odobert recently, are not expecting to be embroiled in a busy Deadline Day, Sky Sports’ Michael Bridge exclusively told GIVEMESPORT, though the reputable journalist also suggested that, with Ange Postecoglou’s Spurs, anything is possible.

To kick-start the Greek-Australian chief’s second Premier League season at the helm, the north London-based outfit have amassed a total of four points after a 1-1 draw with Leicester City and a 4-0 victory over Everton and are entering the final hours of the summer market should they wish to bolster their squad further.

Tottenham Hotspur Transfer Latest

Romano: A last-minute deal is not off the cards

After finishing one place outside the Champions League slots last term, a duo of points behind fourth-placed Aston Villa, boss Postecoglou and Co will be keen to secure top four credentials at the end of the new campaign.

In a bid to aid their 2024/25 aspirations, Spurs have gone about their summer business quietly and have recently welcomed the aforementioned Odobert to the fold, while deals for young central midfielder duo Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall have also been snared.

That’s without mentioning the fact that they eclipsed their club-record acquisition by shelling out a whopping £65 million on striker Dominic Solanke’s signature after his career-best return for former employers, Bournemouth, last time out.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, however, has suggested that Tottenham could dip their toes back into the summer market in the final hours with a new left-back earmarked as a potential area in need of reinforcement.

Bridge: Tottenham Not Expecting Busy Deadline Day

Journalist praised club’s ‘really impressive’ business

Speaking exclusively to GIVEMESPORT, Sky Sports’ Bridge has suggested that, although Tottenham are expected to remain inactive between now and the end of the summer window, you can never rule out a last-minute move for Postecoglou and Co. Insisting that they’ve carried out ‘really impressive’ business thus far, the journalist praised them for the following trio of additions: Solanke, Gray and Odobert. Bridge said:

“I think with Tottenham, you never say never. But my understanding is not to expect a busy deadline day in terms of incomings. They wanted an out-and-out striker, Postecoglou wanted Solanke, they got Solanke. I think they've been really impressive.

“What they've seen of Archie Gray so far, we also know that Odobert came out of nowhere, but he's another option. He gives Spurs something a little bit different in the wide areas.”

Tottenham Move for Eze ‘Un-Daniel Levy-Like’

Summer move for Jacob Ramsey also ruled out

Tottenham have been linked with a plethora of Premier League-proven stars, including Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze or Jacob Ramsey of Aston Villa, throughout the summer as they look to bolster their squad appropriately.

However, according to Italian football insider Romano, who spoke exclusively to GMS, a potential deal for the former – a seven-cap England international – is financially unfeasible with his release clause sitting at £65 million.

GIVEMESPORT Key Statistic: Eze enjoyed a career-best return for Crystal Palace in 23/24, scoring 11 goals and providing six assists in 31 matches in all competitions.

Since moving to Selhurst Park from Queens Park Rangers four years ago, Eze has become one of the most enjoyable players to watch in the top division, having plundered 26 goals and 15 goals in 114 outings.

Key Takeaways

Newcastle United face key injury concerns, including Joe Willock.

Spurs deal with defensive challenges ahead of gameweek three.

Sandro Tonali could make first full start for Newcastle since October.

Gameweek three of the Premier League season looks set to be a good one, with Sunday, in particular having some terrific games on offer. As well as the highly-anticipated derby between Manchester United and Liverpool, Spurs, fresh off a dominant 4-0 victory over Everton, visit St James' Park to take on a Newcastle side which seems to be slightly struggling in front of goal.

The Magpies were limited to a 1-1 draw away at the Vitality Stadium against AFC Bournemouth in gameweek two and will have come away from the game feeling very fortunate due to Dango Ouattara's goal being controversially ruled out due to a handball.

Spurs couldn't have had a better start to their home league campaign as they breezed past Everton 4-0. Ange Postecoglou's men dominated for large parts of the game and were clinical in taking their chances with Heung-Min Son scoring a double, centre-back Cristian Romero getting on the scoresheet and Yves Bissouma scoring one of the goals of the season so far.

Newcastle Team News

Willock injury adds to growing list at St James' Park

It was not all positive for Newcastle following their win on penalties to advance to the third round of the Carabao Cup. Joe Willock, the man who scored Newcastle's only open-play goal of the game after just 20 seconds, was forced off after just 15 minutes due to what seems to be a thigh injury.

Willock, who just managed nine appearances in the Premier League last season will be devastated if his injury turns out to be a serious one as he will be looking for a way back into a Newcastle side which is looking stacked in the middle of the park, especially after Sandro Tonali is now available for selection following his ban.

The Magpies, despite just being three games into their season, are missing quite a few key players through injury, with Sven Botman, Callum Wilson and Lewis Miley being the most noteworthy absences. Defender, Fabian Schar also misses out through suspension. Newcastle remain linked with Crystal Palace and England international defender, Marc Guehi in the latter stages of the window but it seems like if any deal is to be done, he won't be signed in time to face Spurs.

Newcastle Predicted XI

Tonali handed his first Premier League start since October

After getting himself 90 minutes in Carabao Cup competition against Nottingham Forest, Lewis Hall could see himself return to the starting lineup to face Spurs. Eddie Howe favoured Lloyd Kelly in the left-back role for Newcastle's trip to Bournemouth but Hall took his place after 69 minutes.

Elsewhere for Newcastle, Sandro Tonali could be handed his first Premier League start in almost a year as he is now eligible for selection following his betting ban. The Italian midfielder who signed from AC Milan for £55m last summer played just over an hour in the Magpies' second-round Carabao Cup tie and could take the place of Sean Longstaff in midfield, who despite being consistent for Newcastle as of late, will naturally play a backup role once all of Newcastle's players are fully fit.

Eddie Howe could also reshuffle his front three. Alexander Isak will of course keep his place, but an opportunity could open up for Harvey Barnes to nail down a spot in the starting 11 for Newcastle. Barnes, who came off the bench against Bournemouth and provided an assist, could find himself in the starting lineup given Newcastle's current, underwhelming options on the right wing of Jacob Murphy and Miguel Almiron. Barnes coming into the starting lineup could see Anthony Gordon switch wings to play out on the right as he has done in the past.

Spurs Team News

Ange Postecoglu could be hit with a big defensive blow

Despite Spurs having a pretty good start to the season with a positive performance which only saw them take a point away to Leicester and an emphatic 4-0 win against Everton, Ange Postecoglou finds himself facing some big adversity just three games into the season as his brand-new, big money signing, Dominic Solanke has been hit with an ankle injury and Micky van de Ven who has been brilliant since joining the club for £45m last season, could now miss out due to a knee injury.

As well as injuries to Solanke and van de Ven, Postecoglu will also be without Rodrigo Bentancur, who remains out due to concussion protocol for a nasty collision he was involved in during Spurs' opener against Leicester City which rendered him unconscious.

Italian left-back Destiny Udogie was brought off after 73 minutes against Everton due to tiredness in his hamstrings and calves and Postecoglou has admitted that Udogie was also dealing with some tiredness and soreness in the first game of the season so it still remains to be seen if the Italian will be eligible to face the Magpies and they can continue to build his fitness.

Other than that, unless there is a last-minute surge of transfer activity from Spurs which could see a few incomings be eligible for this game, there is no other team news to be covered.

Spurs Predicted XI

Spurs could be forced into significant defensive changes

Ange Postecoglou could be forced into some significant changes in his back line, in particular, the left side. With Micky van de Ven potentially out, Radu Dragusin could see himself back in the starting lineup. Despite Destiny Udogie suffering some tiredness in his calves and hamstrings in the opening two Premier League games, he should be good to go which will be a boost for both himself and Postecoglou.

Other than Dragusin coming in for van de Ven, Postecoglou could make one other change, that being Pape Sarr coming in for Spurs' new man, Wilson Odobert, who made his debut for Tottenham last weekend. The Frenchman was replaced by Sarr just over an hour into the game against Everton and due to the intensity and pace of the game between Spurs and Newcastle could be played at, Postecoglu could favour the high energy and aggression of Sarr, over the skill and luxury of Odobert.

Tottenham Move for £65m Star Would be "Un-Daniel Levy-Like"

Description

Tottenham Hotspur are unlikely to return for Eberechi Eze or Jacob Ramsey in the final few hours of the transfer window, journalist Ben Jacobs has revealed to GIVEMESPORT.

Spurs appear to be content with their attacking options after Wilson Odobert’s arrival and appear to be out of contention to try again for both English aces ahead of Friday’s deadline.

According to Jacobs, a deal to bring Eze to North London would be difficult financially. The 26-year-old saw his £65m release clause expire, and Crystal Palace are now unwilling to entertain any offers after losing the likes of Michael Olise and Joachim Andersen earlier in the window.

In a busy window for Ange Postecoglou, the Australian tactician has added future stars Odobert, Lucas Bergvall, Archie Gray and Yang Min-hyuk to his squad, as well as the club’s record signing Dominic Solanke up front.

Looking to build on a promising first season under Postecoglou in North London, Spurs could still make one or two signings before the deadline.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano revealed Tottenham remain ‘one of the clubs to follow’ in the closing stages of the transfer window.

Eze Deal ‘Difficult Financially’ for Spurs

‘Very tough’ to pull off ahead of the deadline

Speaking to GMS, Jacobs explained that a deal for Crystal Palace ace Eze is now ‘very tough’ to pull off ahead of the transfer deadline:

“I think Tottenham signed Wilson Odobert under the radar, and that was the core position that they wanted to strengthen in, and now they would be unlikely to return for Jacob Ramsey or Eberechi Eze.

“Eze is just difficult financially because Crystal Palace have lost a lot of stars.

“And it means that, unless you're going to go down the route of offering what was a now-expired release clause number, which would be £65million, it’s very tough to pull off, and a very un-Daniel Levy-like deal in the final few days of the window.”

Since joining Palace in 2020 from Queens Park Rangers, Eze has proven to be one of the most outstanding playmakers in the Premier League.

In his four full seasons at Selhurst Park, the 26-year-old made 127 appearances across all competitions, scoring 27 goals and registering 17 assists.

The Eagles were eager to keep hold of their main man, who led Oliver Glasner’s side to a top-10 finish in the Premier League last season, with 15 goal contributions in an impressive campaign.

Several Premier League clubs have been rumoured to have an interest in Eze this summer, including Man City and Arsenal, but formal offers never reached Palace’s inbox.

Tottenham Eye Andreas Christensen

Among clubs interested in ex-Chelsea ace

Tottenham are among the clubs interested in signing former Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen before the transfer deadline, reports in Spain have claimed.

According to SPORT, Barcelona have opened the door to both Christensen and Eric Garcia’s exits this summer as they look to reduce their wage bill and improve their financial situation.

Tottenham and Manchester United have been named among the clubs holding an interest in acquiring the Danish international before the transfer window slams shut on Friday, as well as Newcastle, who had Christensen on their shortlist for a while.

Newcastle vs. Spurs - Odds and Predictions

Description

Key Takeaways

A total of 16 goals were scored in the last three games between Spurs and Newcastle.

Both teams had big wins in 2023/24 - Newcastle 4-0 and Spurs 4-1.

Spurs and Newcastle haven't had a goalless draw since 1971.

Newcastle United welcome Spurs to St James' Park in a fixture that has produced plenty of goals over the years. In the last six games between the two sides, 30 goals have been scored at an average of five goals per game. With both sides continuing to opt for attacking football, there's no reason why this game should be any different.

The results of the fixture at Newcastle have altered wildly over the years. The Magpies beat Spurs 6-1 in 2023, but Spurs wonr 4-0 at St James' Park in 2014, with Emmanuel Adebayor netting twice. Both teams will have aspirations of getting back into the Champions League, although it's highly unlikely there will be room enough for both clubs to qualify this season.

Outcome

Spurs out of the blocks quicker in 2024/25

With both sides having won and drawn a game, Spurs have the slight edge on form, having steam rolled Everton 4-0, which gives them some serious momentum coming into this game. Spurs have not won at St James' Park since a 3-2 win there in 2021. They will be thinking it is about time they put that right if they have serious ambitions of making the top four.

Over / Under

The fixture hasn't been without a goal for 53 years

With an average of five goals per game in fixtures between the two sides over the last three seasons, it is fair to expect goals in this encounter. The best odds on under 5.5 goals are 1/6. For those with a sense of adventure, Sky Bet are offering 20/1 on there being over 7.5 goals. Although, while there have been plenty of goals in the fixture, the most there has been over the last 10 years is seven, when Newcastle trounced Spurs 6-1 in 2023.

Goalscorers

Isak has four goals against Spurs in three games

Alexander Isak has scored a brace of goals twice in this fixture and is priced accordingly. Wilson Odobert has been very lively for Spurs this season and is given far more generous odds. Although a winger as opposed to a striker, he is a player who carries the ball well. Naturally, his manager, Ange Postecoglou is fan, having talked about him after the four-nil win over Everton.

"He's different from our other wingers. He goes at his opponent and, you know, even if he wasn't successful, he went at him again and I think that's exactly why we bought him to the club."

Prediction

Spurs to come away with crucial win

There is no denying it, when St James' Park is full and the fans are in the mood it is a wonderful place for the home side to play their football in. But Spurs clicked to devastating effect against Everton, with Yves Bissouma beginning his road to redemption after being caught on film inhaling laughing gas, with a fine goal against Everton.

Newcastle will provide a far stiffer test than the Merseysiders, but Postecoglou will need to seriously challenge the top four to be anywhere near in consideration of a satisfactory season. The early signs are encouraging, even if new signing Dominic Solanke's ankle injury is likely to keep him out. Given the Newcastle injury crises at the back to Sven Botman and the suspension of Fabian Schar, Spurs to record an impressive 3-1 victory.

Tottenham 'Considering' Last-Minute Deal Before Deadline Day

Description

Tottenham Hotspur have been incredibly quiet in terms of summer business since getting the signing of ex-Burnley winger Wilson Odobert through the door, though transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, while speaking exclusively to GIVEMESPORT, has suggested that they could welcome further additions before the deadline.

The transfer window slams firmly shut on August 30 and Ange Postecoglou, ahead of his second campaign in the dugout, ensured to get the majority of his side’s business sorted in the early embers of the summer, snaring the likes of central midfield duo Lucas Bergvall and Archie Gray and, even more recently, Odobert.

Tottenham Hotspur Transfer Latest

Left-back identified as position of need

And that's without mentioning that Tottenham, in a bid to secure top four credentials in 2024/25, eclipsed their club-record transfer by forking out £65 million on striker Dominic Solanke, who has been signed to lead the line this campaign.

Previously, Romano told GIVEMESPORT that Johan Lange - the club's sporting director - could still be poised to complete one or two more signings, with the left-back berth being identified as a position of need by those in Tottenham Hotspur Stadium circles.

Destiny Udogie, who endured an injury-struck season last time out, remains at the top of Postecoglou’s pecking order in said position, but having Ben Davies, 31, as second fiddle is not ideal for a club vying for Champions League qualification.

Elsewhere, Middlesbrough ace Hayden Hackney, 22, has been linked with a move to north London this summer with the youngster, who has impressed under Michael Carrick’s watchful eye, valued around the £25 million mark.

Romano: Postecoglou and Co ‘considering opportunities’

Praised Tottenham for going about their business quietly

When quizzed whether Tottenham could still be scouring the market for opportunities in the final days, the ever-reliable Romano suggested that, in recent days, Postecoglou’s men have been considering different moves.

While crediting the north Londoners for going about their business quietly in the summer months, the Italian football insider said that there is ‘nothing’ he can say as a result. Romano said:

“Yes, because they've been considering opportunities already in recent days. So, I think for Tottenham, there is still the chance to do something else in the final hours, in the final days. At the moment, there is still nothing I can say, because Tottenham have been fantastic in keeping things quiet this summer.”

Barcelona’s Andreas Christensen Eyed by Tottenham Chiefs

Man Utd also among the Dane’s admirers

Amid worries over potential injuries, as evidenced by last season, another area that Tottenham could strengthen this summer is in the heart of the back line and Barcelona ace Andreas Christensen is being eyed, per reports in Spain.

Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven are, undoubtedly, Postecoglou’s first-choice central defensive partnership, but Christensen, 28, could provide a plethora of top flight experience if they were able to strike a deal with his La Liga employers.

GIVEMESPORT Key Statistic: Christensen failed to score or assist in his 93-game Premier League careerwith Chelsea.

According to the aforementioned report, Manchester United are also credited with an interest in the ex-Chelsea defender, who has two years left to run on his current £147,000-per-week contract at Blaugrana.

Tottenham Could Make 'One or Two' Signings Before Deadline

Description

Tottenham Hotspur are expected to do more business ahead of the summer transfer window slamming shut on August 30, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has exclusively told GIVEMESPORT.

Ange Postecoglou is looking to build on an impressive first season in north London, where he guided the Lilywhites to fifth in the Premier League table. The Australian coach has already added future stars Wilson Odobert, Lucas Bergvall and Archie Gray to his squad, as well as former England international Dominic Solanke for a fee of £65million.

In order to help his side force their way into the top four, Romano has refused to rule out the chance that Postecoglou dips back into the market at least one more time.

Tottenham Could Make One or Two More Signings

Romano believes Spurs are a club to keep an eye on before deadline

When asked about what Tottenham's transfer business could look like over the next week, Romano revealed that he expects more deals to be done while crediting Tottenham for keeping the majority of their moves under wraps this summer:

"I would not exclude anything from Tottenham. Apart from Solanke, who was always the top target, all other signings they've been very good at keeping in the background. I think, for Tottenham, there's still the possibility to do one or two more signings.

"I'm not sure it's going to be two, but it could be. I think Tottenham are going to be one of the clubs to follow in the final days."

There are a number of possible deals being rumoured surrounding Tottenham, with Middlesbrough ace Hayden Hackney being one name that's reportedly high on the list for Postecoglou and his recruitment team. The 22-year-old is believed to be valued at £25 million.

There is also said to be interest in Barcelona star Andreas Christensen. The Danish international, who used to turn out for London rivals Chelsea, may be forced out of the door at the Nou Camp as Barcelona attempt to stablise their financial situation.

Tottenham Interested In a Left-Back

Spurs are in need of some cover for Destiny Udogie

Romano indicates that Tottenham Hotspur may look to strengthen their options at left-back in the coming days. Destiny Udogie firmly established himself as the first-choice left-back last season, starting 28 Premier League matches. In contrast, Ben Davies, who turned 31 in April and is entering the latter stages of his career, made just 12 starts. Despite his age, Davies is still expected to provide cover both at left-back and left-centre-back.

Sergio Reguilon could potentially serve as Udogie's deputy, but his future at the club remains uncertain, as he is expected to move on this summer. It has been reported that the Spaniard may be interested in a return to Manchester United, for whom he spent half of the 2023/24 season on loan at.

The situation leaves Postecoglou's squad somewhat lacking on the left side of the defence, which likely explains why Spurs are actively seeking to bring in additional depth in this area.

Tottenham Working on Surprise Signing Before Deadline Day

Description

Tottenham Hotspur have enjoyed a fruitful summer transfer window thus far as they look to improve on Ange Postecoglou’s first season at the helm and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, speaking exclusively to GIVEMESPORT, has said they could still make further signings before the fast-approaching deadline.

In a bid to finish in the Champions League spots, Postecoglou and his entourage have been working tirelessly behind the scenes, securing the respective signatures of Dominic Solanke, Archie Gray, Wilson Odobert and Lucas Bergvall, to ensure his side have the best chance of usurping their rivals to a top four finish.

Tottenham Hotspur: Transfer Latest

Left-back identified as a position of need

Romano, speaking to GIVEMEPSORT earlier this week, revealed that the north Londoners could still make inroads on further summer additions with left-back identified, within the club, as a position of need.

Destiny Udogie will likely remain Postecoglou’s first-choice in said position, but the decline of Ben Davies and lack of cover on the left could entice the Greek-Australian chief to dip his toes back into the market for extra bodies.

From a central defensive standpoint, Barcelona’s Andreas Christensen – formerly of capital club rivals Chelsea – has emerged as a potential option should he become available on a free transfer.

Manchester United have also been credited with an interest in the Dane, with both Premier League suitors banking on his La Liga employers’ need to offload those deemed surplus to requirements in order to snare a prospective deal before the end of the month.

Romano: Tottenham Still ‘In the Market’ for Opportunities

Nothing concrete or close to completion as of yet

Speaking exclusively to GIVEMESPORT, the ever-reliable Romano has suggested that his sources are adamant that Spurs are still working behind the scenes to finish the window on a positive note.

Suggesting that no further moves are concrete or close to completion, the transfer expert revealed that Tottenham will remain active in the final days of the trading period and will not be afraid to pounce if an opportunity arises. He said:

“The deal they did with Burnley [for Odobert] was completely silent. So, I think they're still working on something, and I'm told they're still working on something, but there is still nothing concrete or close to being completed. But I can confirm Tottenham are still in the market for opportunities.”

Manor Solomon’s Move to Leeds Set to Be Completed Soon

Winger has played just six times for the north Londoners

In terms of outgoings, outcast Manor Solomon is among the names that is on Tottenham and Postecoglou’s chopping block, with the now-25-year-old struggling for game time at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Previously, Israeli news outlet Sport5 reported that Daniel Farke-led Leeds were a leading force in the race for his signature as his days in the north of the capital seemed scarily numbered.

GIVEMESPORT Key Statistic: Solomon, throughout his 209-game club career, has notched 35 goals and 17 assists.

Now, per The Athletic, the out-of-favour forward is set to complete his Elland Road switch on Tuesday after all parties have agreed to a season-long loan this summer. The report stated that he was subject to interest from elsewhere, but Leeds won the race.

Tottenham 4-0 Everton: Player Ratings and Match Highlights

Description

Key Takeaways

Everton went into this fixture having not beaten Spurs in the league for four years.

Jordan Pickford's first-half mistake threatened to end the game as a contest.

Cristian Romero put the game to bed with goal number three for Spurs.

Everton made it very unlikely they would get their first win over Spurs since 2020, when they went into half-time two goals down against Tottenham, during which time they failed to register a single shot on target, with Spurs winning this contest by four goals to nil.

The hosts made their intentions clear from the first whistle, putting Everton under pressure in the opening 10 minutes. This led to the home side taking the lead in the fourteenth minute through a goal by Yves Bissouma, who thundered the ball off of the underside of the crossbar from just outside the box.

Things went from bad to worse for Everton when their England keeper Jordan Pickford made a catastrophic mistake when taking a bad touch from a back pass before Heung-min Son robbed him and scored. Overall, Spurs dominated the opening forty-five minutes, enjoying 74% of the possession.

After the high energy of the first-half, it was somewhat inevitable that the intensity of the game would drop off in the initial stages of the second half. Everton were grateful for the breathing space and gradually gained something of a foothold into the game, but it was not enough to force a goal.

So it was particularly dispiriting for the Toffees when Spurs centre-back Cristian Romero climbed to head in a corner and effectively ended the game as a meaningful contest. Son added a fourth with 13 minutes left to complete Everton's misery.

Match Highlights

Tottenham Player Ratings

GK - Guglielmo Vicario - 6/10

Mostly a spectator in the first-half, due to Tottenham's dominance.

LB - Destiny Udogie - 6/10

Largely untested, it was a relatively comfortable afternoon for the full-back.

CB - Micky van de Ven - 7/10

Looked to be injured again in the first-half, but recovered and was largely untested.

CB - Cristian Romero - 7/10

Much like his centre-half colleague van de Ven, Romero wasn't particularly tested by Everton - climbed well to head in the third goal.

RB - Pedro Perro 6/10

Got forward and threatened to add to his tally, having scored in the opening game of the season.

DM - Yves Bissouma - 7/10

Scored his first goal for Tottenham with a rocket of a shot from outside of the box.

AM - James Maddison - 6/10

Always looking to probe and find a way in behind the opposition.

AM - Dejan Kulusevski - 6/10

Looked a dangerous customer at times. His dance through the penalty area set up the opening goal.

LW - Wilson Odobert - 7/10

Looked very sharp in the first half, giving more than a glimpse of his undoubted potential.

CF - Son Heung-min - 8/10

Was the grateful recipient of a Jordan Pickford error to double the score, showing his sharpness to close the goalkeeper down. In the end, his quality shone through with two goals.

RW - Brennan Johnson - 5/10

Had the opportunity to run with the ball on a couple of occasions, but was guilty of making the wrong decisions too often.

Sub - Richarlison - 6/10

The Brazil international was brought on with 24 minutes left.

Sub - Pape Sarr - 6/10

Not long enough to make a meaningful impact.

Sub - Archie Gary - 5/10

A cameo for the young recruit from Leeds.

Sub - Lucas Bergvall

A run out for the Swede with the game already over

Sub - Djed Spence

Got a few useful touches of the ball.

Everton Player Ratings

GK - Jordan Pickford - 4/10

Culpable for Tottenham's second goal on a day the England international would rather forget.

LB - Vitalii Mykolenko - 5/10

Like his Everton colleagues, had a difficult afternoon often spent chasing white shirts.

CB - Michael Keane - 6/10

Like Tarkowski, Keane tried to weather the Spurs storm, but it was not enough to prevent a convincing defeat.

CB - James Tarkowski - 6/10

Was rumoured to be missing this game due to injury, but battled through as best he could.

RB - Roman Dixon - 7/10

The 19-year-old was given his first team debut and was not over-awed by the experience. One of the few positives for Everton during this match.

DM - Idrissa Gueye - 5/10

Had plenty of defensive work to get through, but with Spurs having so much of the ball, he was unable to make an impact.

DM - Tim Iroegbunam - 5/10

Unable to stem the Spurs tide of goals.

AM - Abdoulaye Doucoure - 5/10

Given the high amount of possession Spurs enjoyed, it proved too difficult for Doucoure to get into the game, and he was substituted before the hour mark.

LW - Dwight McNeil - 6/10

Looked more effective once Sean Dyche made changes on fifty-seven minutes, but still not sufficient enough.

RW - Jack Harrison - 5/10

Unable to make a significant contribution to the game and was taken off before the hour mark.

CF - Dominic Calvert Lewin - 5/10

Feeding off scarps throughout as Spurs dominated the first-half.

Sub - Iliman Ndiaye - 6/10

Looked sharp on his introduction.

Sub - Jesper Linndstrom - 6/10

Looked lively, shooting on target moments after coming on as a sub.

Sub - Beto - 5/10

The game was over by the time the striker came on.

Sub - Harrison Armstrong

A proud debut for the man who started with the club as a six-year-old.

Man of the Match - Son Heung-min

Once again, Tottenham's Son Heung-min showed his quality in the Premier League with a brace of goals and having too much for Everton all afternoon. Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford may have thought his first touch from a back pass with the outside of his left foot would have been enough to evade the onrushing South Korean. However, Son robbed the England keeper and calmly slotted the ball home to make it two-nil and effectively end the game as a contest, before getting his second goal with 13 minutes left.

Tottenham Could 'Find an Opportunity' Before Transfer Deadline

Description

Tottenham remain in the market for further additions in the final week of the transfer window, with a left-back signing 'a possibility', journalist Fabrizio Romano told GIVEMESPORT.

Ange Postecoglou has strengthened his squad significantly this summer, with Dominic Solanke's £65 million arrival from Bournemouth the marquee acquisition. The Aussie coach has also added the likes of Archie Gray, Lucas Bergvall, Timo Werner and Wilson Odobert to his ranks in what has been a busy window for the North London club.

The Lillywhites may not be finished there, with a left-back still on the cards, as Postecoglou looks to supply Destiny Udogie and Ben Davies with more cover. Few concrete links to left-sided defenders have emerged, although a move for a player in this position could still depend on the future of Sergio Reguilon, who remains a Spurs player.

Romano: Spurs Could Still Sign Left-back

Udogie dominated the position last season

After finishing fifth last season and narrowly missing out on a place in the Champions League, Postecoglou will be looking to launch another concerted assault on the top four. The additions of Solanke, Gray, Bergvall, Werner and Odobert should bolster his ensemble significantly, although one area of the pitch continues to look light.

Udogie dominated the left-back position last season, starting 28 Premier League games, while Ben Davies started just 12. The Welshman is entering the latter stages of his career, having turned 31 in April, and he's still expected to cover at left-centre-back as well as at left-back.

Reguilon could be the deputy for Udogie, although the Spaniard is expected to leave the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, and is 'keen' on a return to Manchester United. Subsequently, this side of the pitch looks depleted for Postecoglou, and they are understandably in the market for a new player here.

Speaking exclusively to GIVEMESPORT on Friday morning (23 August), Romano confirmed that Spurs remain diligent in the window, and could pounce late to sign a left-back:

"Look, for Tottenham, I think there is still a possibility, yes, maybe to find an opportunity. For example, a left-back could be an opportunity that they could follow in the final, final days (of the window).

"Then I would keep the door open for Tottenham, because they've been very good at keeping all the targets quiet this summer. So some of the deals they did were very, very silent, working in the background."

As alluded to by Romano, concrete links to left-sided defenders haven't surfaced yet, with the club keeping their transfer dealings under wraps this summer. However, if they are to move in this area, some speculation can be expected to emerge in the coming days.

Spurs Could Move for Christensen

Barcelona may be inclined to sell for financial reasons

An alternative approach to signing a left-back may be acquiring an additional centre-back. Such a move would allow Davies to cover just Udogie, rather than two positions.

A potential central defensive signing could be Barcelona's Andreas Christensen, who Spurs reportedly want to add to their squad. The Denmark international was an important part of the Catalan giants' team last season, featuring 30 times in La Liga, although new boss Hansi Flick may be willing to sanction a move for the former Chelsea man to ease finanical pressures on the club.

It's understood that Postecoglou is an admirer of Christensen, and has identified him as a potential option.

Description

Tottenham Hotspur winger Manor Solomon has been earmarked for a move away from North London this summer on a loan deal, with Leeds United having been circulated as a potential destination, according to Israeli news outlet Sport5.

Solomon made a strong start to his career in Tottenham white, assisting twice against Burnley in his first few games, but was subsequently hit with a heavy injury that saw the Israeli forward left on the shelf for the rest of the season.

Now, with Tottenham having reinforced in his area and seen him sink down the pecking order, the club have reportedly come to the decision to send him out loan for the season to recapture his sharpness.

Leeds United have been the most prominent name linked with his services this summer, with the club in need of attacking reinforcement following the departures of Georginio Rutter and Crysencio Summerville to Brighton and West Ham respectively.

Solomon Linked with Leeds Loan

The 25-year-old spent most of last season injured

Solomon's arrival in North London last season was treated as a smart capture, having caught the eye on loan at Fulham the year prior, and arriving on a free transfer to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

However, his big six career has so far not gone to plan, with a hefty ligament injury forcing him to watch the season from the sidelines instead, having made a strong start initially in North London, even earning the nickname of "pocket rocket" by the Sky Sports Super Sunday panel.

Now, with Tottenham having deemed the unfortunate winger as surplus to requirements, Solomon is available for a loan switch this summer, in an attempt for Solomon to regain his fitness and for Tottenham to recoup some of his potential re-sale value.

Leeds United have been circulated as the team most likely to acquire his signature, with the Elland Road outfit in need of reinforcement on the attacking flanks after being hit by several big departures this summer already.

It is stated by Sport5 that Solomon is also considering inquiries from fellow Premier League sides, as well as offers from Spain and Germany, but a switch to Leeds United appears to be the most prominent outlet so far.

Leeds Keen on Burnley Star

Manuel Benson has been subject to interest from the Whites

Manuel Benson of Burnley has been outed as another potential option to re-bolster the Leeds United flanks, with the 27-year-old also being subject to interest from Norwich City.

Burnley's relegation from the Premier League has seen a number of their star players depart for new pastures, including the likes of Wilson Oderbert to Tottenham and Sander Berge to Fulham, but a move to a fellow Championship title contender has been proposed ahead of Benson, who fell down the pecking order at Turf Moor upon their initial return to the English top flight.

The Angolan is reportedly keen on the potential switch, having starred for The Claret's in their last Championship campaign wherein they comfortably won the league, becoming a fan favourite for his pace, dynamism and eye-catching agility and skills.
