There's just under a month until the summer transfer window slams shut this year, and while some clubs are fumbling around yet to make much of an impact, Tottenham Hotspur seem to know exactly what they're doing.

Daniel Levy and Co signed the incredibly exciting Archie Gray for £30m at the start of this month and just completed the signing of South Korean youngster Yang Min-Hyeok, who's set to join the team in January.

This determination to invest in youth is an exciting indicator of the club's future ambitions, and based on recent reports, they're targeting at least one more highly-rated teenager this summer, a prospect who could be the perfect long-term replacement for Son Heung-min.

Tottenham Hotspur transfer news

According to a recent report from GIVEMESPORT, Tottenham have maintained their interest in French wonderkid Desire Doue.

The report has revealed that the Lilywhites have been on the charm offensive in a bid to persuade him to come to North London, showing him the path he'd have to the first team, although due to the level of interest in his services, they have found it challenging to do so thus far.

No price is mentioned in the report, but stories from earlier this month claimed that the Stade Rennais gem would be available for around £42m.

It will be an expensive and challenging deal to get over the line, but given his quality and potential, Levy and Co should do what they can to bring him to N17 this summer, as he could be the ideal heir to Son.

Why Doue would be the ideal Son heir

So, the first thing to clear up here is that while Son is 32 years old and therefore has a limited amount of time at the top left, he's still more than capable of leading this Spurs side, as he demonstrated last season.

In just 36 appearances, the Chuncheon-born winger scored 17 goals and provided ten assists, equating to a remarkable average of a goal involvement every 1.33 games, and while he looks more than capable of doing something similar next season, father time catches up with us all.

For example, an article from The Athletic a few years ago looked at when players in different positions hit their peak, and according to that, a winger's peak is around 26.

Now, while the former Bayer Leverkusen ace may well maintain his impressive form for another couple of years, it would make sense to bring in Doue as his long-term heir as, despite being just 19 years old, he already looked unreal.

For example, in 42 first-team appearances last season, 13 of which came on the left wing, the Angers-born "entertainer", as dubbed by data analyst Ben Mattinson, scored four goals and provided six assists, equating to an average of one every 4.2 games, which for someone so young is undeniably impressive.

Moreover, according to FBref, which compares players in similar positions across Europe's top five leagues, the Rennais prospect sits in the top 6% of attacking midfielders and wingers for progressive passes and successful take-ons per 90, indicating that the youngster has already mastered some elements of his position.

Ultimately, Doue is a young and relatively inexperienced player, while Son is still performing at a high level. However, the former looks to have all the ingredients to eventually take over from the latter on Spurs' left-hand side, and therefore, Levy and Co should be doing all they can to convince him to move to the White side of North London this summer.

Spurs target cut-price deal for £60m "beast" who's better than Chiesa

It's been a successful pre-season for Tottenham Hotspur so far this year, with three wins on the bounce against Heart of Midlothian, Queens Park Rangers and most recently Vissel Kobe.

However, with the return of the Premier League now less than three weeks away, a lot still needs to be done, especially regarding the transfer window.

So far, the only permanent signings the Lilywhites have made this summer are Archie Gray and Yang Min-Hyeok, although they have been heavily linked with Juventus ace Federico Chiesa.

However, while the Italian international would likely be a great addition to Ange Postecoglou's squad, recent reports have touted a potentially more exciting and dangerous alternative from the Premier League.

Tottenham Hotspur transfer news

According to a recent report from GIVEMESPORT, Tottenham have maintained their long-term interest in Wolverhampton Wanderers' star, Pedro Neto, ahead of a potential move in the coming weeks.

The report claims that the North Londoners are keen to add another quality attacker to their frontline this summer, and Postecoglou favours signing a player with Premier League experience.

This criterion has led them to Eberechi Eze and the Wolves ace. However, the report has revealed the Lilywhites believe there will be no room to manoeuvre on the Englishman's £60m price tag, while the Portuguese international will likely be available for less than his £60m valuation.

Should Spurs opt to sign Neto, he'll still likely cost more than the £21m fee Juventus reportedly want for Chiesa, but given his form last season, he'd be worth it.

How Neto compares to Chiesa

So, with it looking like Daniel Levy and Co could be opting to sign Neto over Chiesa this summer, how do the pair compare?

Well, from a pure output perspective, it's a clear and decisive victory for the Wolves man, even though he only produced one more goal involvement than his competition.

In just 24 appearances last season, the 24-year-old "beast," as former teammate Diogo Jota dubbed him, scored three goals and provided 11 assists, maintaining an impressive average of a goal involvement every 1.71 games.

In contrast, the Euro 2020 champion scored ten goals and provided three assists, but it took him 37 appearances to do so, resulting in a less impressive average of a goal involvement every 2.8 games.

How about the pair's underlying numbers then? Is it another easy win for the former Lazio winger when we take a look at what's going on under the hood?

In short, yes, yes, it is. For example, aside from a few, the Viana do Castelo-born star comes out ahead in the majority of underlying numbers and by quite some way, such as actual non-penalty goals plus assists, progressive passes and carries, passing accuracy, key passes, goal-creating actions, successful take-ons, ball recoveries and aerial duels won, all per 90.

Lastly, availability is one area in which you might expect the former Fiorentina dynamo to have the upper hand, but as it turns out, that's not the case.

In the last three seasons, he has missed 84 games for club and country through injury, while his competition has missed 50, and while that's still far from ideal, it's significantly better.

Ultimately, when it comes to both output and the underlying metrics behind that output, Neto is clear of Chiesa and is comfortably the superior winger at present. Therefore, while he'll undoubtedly cost more, Levy and Co must do what they can to bring him to N17 in the coming weeks.

With Tottenham Hotspur set to lose a number of senior players this summer, it appears that Daniel Levy and Co are working hard to find younger prospects to replace them.

Spurs set for squad revamp this summer

The underlying theme of Spurs' summer so far has been the selling off of ageing players to fund younger replacements. The most recent news out of N17 has seen Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg leave Spurs to join French outfit Marseille. Arriving on an initial loan deal, the Ligue 1 side have an obligation to sign the Danish midfielder permanently in the future for a fee believed to be about £17million.

With fellow Spurs midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur also attracting interest from abroad this summer, it appears that Ange Postecoglou already has two capable players waiting in the wings. The early passages of the transfer window saw two teenager midfielders arrive in N17 in the form of Lucas Bergvall and Archie Gray.

Whilst the former signed for Spurs back in February, the 18-year-old only made the move from his native Sweden at the start of this month. In the case of Gray, it was a fee believed to be north of £30 million that saw the teenager leave his boyhood club Leeds United to start a new chapter with Spurs.

The next name slated to depart the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is Emerson Royal, with the Brazilian's move to AC Milan moving closer to completion. As has been the case with Spurs' midfield, it now appears that Levy is eyeing up a young talent to replace the outgoing right back.

Spurs could sign star for a bargain price

As reported by Sport Witness, the Italian press are claiming that Spurs are interested in a deal for Fiorentina defender Michael Kayode. The outlet also reports that Newcastle United and Aston Villa have also expressed a desire to sign the 20-year-old, suggesting a real battle for his signature.

It is reported that Villa offered a little over £12.5 million for the defender back in June but this was rebuffed by Fiorentina sporting director Daniele Prade. It was stated at the time that the Serie A outfit were holding out for a figure in the region of £25 million, but this most recent development suggests that Fiorentina have told Spurs they'd sell for just £17 million, a deduction of over 30 per cent.

If Spurs are to get a deal for Kayode over the line they would be getting a highly rated young talent for a cut-rate price. Last season saw the 20-year-old make 37 appearances for Fiorentina in all competitions, contributing one goal and four assists in the process.

Whilst Kayode is a right back by trade, the player has deputised as both a left and right midfielder at times, showing not only his attacking qualities but his ability to be a versatile asset to Postecoglou's side.

With the report making clear Fiorentina's need to sell this summer and the Italian club currently on a pre-season tour of England, now could be the perfect opportunity for Levy to act fast and hijack a deal for Kayode from Spurs' rivals.

With just over a month until the summer transfer window slams shut, Tottenham Hotspur are set to show the door to one particular player who has struggled for game time in north London.

Tottenham transfer news

It's been a slow summer for the Lilywhites so far, but things could yet pick up amid links to the likes of Viktor Gyokeres and Federico Chiesa. The duo could join both Lucas Bergvall and Archie Gray on the incomings list, with Gyokeres one who would particularly steal the headlines. A forward capable of replacing Harry Kane, Spurs may need to match his £86m release clause, but welcoming the Swede would undoubtedly prove to be a game-changer for Ange Postecoglou.

Meanwhile, on the departure front, those in north London have already shown the door to Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg this summer, with the Dane swapping Spurs for Lyon in recent weeks, and he may not be the last name out the door. He could yet be joined by out-of-favour right-back Emerson Royal, who has been linked to both AC Milan and Borussia Dortmund and is almost certain to be joined by Bryan Gil.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Gil is expected to complete a loan move to Girona this summer after a deal was agreed. What's more, the winger is reportedly also set to extend his contract at Spurs, which will include a release clause worth €15m (£12.6m).

A player who has struggled to find his feet at Spurs, Gil is set to complete a loan move back to La Liga in the hope of finally discovering his best form once more.

"Great" Gil needs move

When Gil initially arrived in north London back in 2021, he was a player with plenty of promise. That promise has since dwindled, however, and after three years, he desperately needs his loan move to go well in the forthcoming campaign. Still just 23 years old, the winger is in no position to panic with plenty of time to turn things around, and he can use Giovani Lo Celso's previously successful loan move to Villarreal in 2022 as a fine example to follow.

Despite his limited minutes, Postecoglou was full of praise for Gil in the last campaign, telling Spurs' official website: "Bryan is one where in the last couple of weeks, it’s been great to have him working really hard in training, he’s missed all of the season so far, and it’s well chronicled that we’ve lost Ivan (Perisic) and lost Manor (Solomon), who play in that left wing position, so having Bryan available again ins great for us."

With a release clause worth just £13m set to be inserted into the Spaniard's new contract too, Gil may yet get the chance to leave Spurs on a permanent basis sooner rather than later.

This summer is a huge one for Tottenham Hotspur as they try to build on Ange Postecoglou’s solid first season at the helm.

His side secured a 5th-placed finish in the Premier League, narrowly missing out on a Champions League place - with the aim undoubtedly to secure qualification this season.

They’ve already invested in the squad during the transfer window, re-signing forward Timo Werner on loan, whilst splashing £40m on youngster Archie Gray.

However, despite the big-money addition of the midfielder, who starred for Leeds United last season, the Lilywhites are still targeting more new signings to increase their chances of building on last season.

Numerous names have been touted with moves to North London this summer, including one talent who has caught the eye of various sides in the Premier League.

Tottenham could sign £50k-p/w star this summer

In recent weeks, Tottenham have been linked with a move to sign Nottingham Forest right-back Neco Williams after his stellar campaign in 2023/24.

The Welsh international, who earns £50k-per-week, as per Capology, made 26 appearances for the Reds last season, claiming three successive Player of the Month awards after the arrival of Nuno Espírito Santo.

His subsequent form has also caught the eye of West Ham United and Manchester United, with the Premier League duo joining Spurs in keeping tabs on his progress at the City Ground.

The potential signing of Williams could play perfectly into the hands of one current Spurs talent who also joined the club from Forest just 12 months ago.

Why Williams could be a dream signing for Johnson

Brennan Johnson joined Postecoglou’s side in September last year for £47.5m from the East Midlands outfit, after his debut top-flight campaign that saw him score eight goals and register three assists.

He enjoyed a successful first season in North London, registering 15 goal contributions, the second most of any player in the Tottenham squad in 2023/24.

Johnson has previously starred with Williams at Forest and for the Welsh national side, with the pair potentially able to rekindle their link-up down the right-hand side should the full-back swap the East Midlands for London this summer.

Whilst Williams featured without the winger at club level during the previous campaign, he still produced some impressive figures that would allow Johnson to reach the next level in North London.

The “incredible” defender, as dubbed by former boss Jürgen Klopp, averaged 2.6 progressive carries and 2.6 progressive passes, tallies that could allow him to once more create a successful partnership with his international teammate by progressing the ball forward consistently to provide the attacker with plenty of opportunities to weave his magic in the final third.

However, his primary role is to be solid defensively, a role that he excelled in last campaign, winning an average of 3.8 tackles per 90 - ranking him within the top 1% of all defenders in Europe.

He also averaged 2.4 blocks and 2.9 clearances, playing a starring role in Espírito Santo’s side towards the back end of the season.

It goes without saying that Williams’ potential signing would be an excellent one for Spurs, but it remains to be seen if they would pursue a move after their reported interest.

It would further strengthen the right-back area, but also hand the current Tottenham forward the opportunity to reach the next level after his impressive first season at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium.

Imagine him & Son: Spurs make move for "incredible" £86m sensation

Heung-Min Son has been one of the best signings in Tottenham Hotspur’s modern history, exceeding all expectations following his £22m move from Bayer Leverkusen back in 2015.

The South Korean attacker has cemented himself as a club legend, scoring 162 goals for the Lilywhites in his 408 appearances in all competitions.

He formed an excellent partnership with Harry Kane during the Englishman’s time in North London, with the pair combining for more goals than any other duo in Premier League history - assisting each other 47 times.

After Kane’s move to Bayern Munich last summer, it left Son with the task of operating as a central striker, compared to his usual left-wing role which has seen him thrive over the years.

However, the potential addition of one talent this summer could allow him to slot back into his favoured position, whilst also forming a new formidable partnership to catapult Spurs up the Premier League table in 2024/25.

Tottenham want £86m superstar this summer

According to Football Insider, Tottenham made a move by registering their interest in Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres, but face competition from multiple other English clubs this summer.

Liverpool and Chelsea are also credited with an interest, whilst local rivals Arsenal are claimed to have made the Swedish forward their number one target during this transfer window.

All the interest is hardly a surprise given his goalscoring record, with the 26-year-old registering a staggering 29 goals and ten assists in his 33 matches in Liga Portugal last season - making him the division’s top scorer by eight goals.

Everyone knows a goalscorer is worth their weight in gold in today’s market, with Sporting setting a £86m price tag to prise him away from the Portuguese club ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.

Whilst he would be a very expensive addition for Ange Postecoglou’s side, he would add that cutting edge his side are lacking, with the Swede able to benefit from Son’s incredible ability in the final third.

Why Son would be perfect for Gyokeres at Tottenham

There have been huge changes at the club since Son’s move to North London, including a new stadium, various managers, and a huge turnover of players as the club look to push for a consistent place in the Premier League’s top four.

Last season was one of his most impressive campaigns at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium, scoring 17 and registering 10 assists, a tally of 12 more than any other Spurs player last season.

However, his stats per 90 would fall perfectly into the hands of Gyokeres, with his goals undoubtedly helping Postecoglou’s side increase their chances of securing a Champions League spot.

The South Korean averaged 0.3 assists per 90 last season - ranking him within the top 6% of all attackers in Europe - a figure that would allow the “incredible” Gyokeres, as dubbed by talent scout Jacek Kulig, to replicate his excellent goalscoring figures in England’s top flight.

Son has also averaged 4.3 progressive passes and 3.7 progressive carries - with two of the latter per 90 seeing him take the ball into the opposition’s penalty area, allowing him to create frequent opportunities for the 26-year-old Swede.

A carry is considered progressive if the ball is moved towards the opponent's goal at least 10 yards from its starting point or is carried into the penalty area.

Both players have demonstrated their ability to score goals and contribute with assists for their teammates in recent seasons, with the pair potentially excelling together should the Sporting Lisbon forward move to Spurs this summer.

He could provide the added goal threat that Postecoglou has been searching for, whilst also creating a partnership similar to that of Son and Kane, which could provide to be vital in the club’s hunt for a return to Champions League football.

Chelsea now interested in signing "fantastic" record-breaking Tottenham gem

Amid another summer full of arrivals, Chelsea now reportedly want to deal London rivals Tottenham Hotspur a blow by signing their young star who seems destined for the top.

Chelsea transfer news

As ever, it's been a busy transfer window at Stamford Bridge and one that is only set to get busier with the reported arrivals of Aaron Anselmino and Filip Jorgensen.

The duo are both reportedly set to undergo medicals before completing moves to the London club, which will see Anselmino return to complete his season with Boca Juniors and Jorgensen instantly stake a claim for Chelsea's number one shirt.

Even after Anselmino and Jorgensen, however, the Blues' business may not be done for the summer. Those at Stamford Bridge could yet deal London rivals Spurs the ultimate blow by landing a future star for Enzo Maresca before he signs his first professional contract.

According to The Sunday Mirror via The Boot Room, Chelsea are now interested in signing Mikey Moore, who has impressed for Spurs in pre-season. The winger can't sign a professional contract until his 17th birthday on August 11, leaving his future open for Chelsea to swoop in. That said, the Lilywhites reportedly expect their academy graduate to put pen to paper on his first senior contract.

There's no doubt about Moore's ability and his arrival would certainly follow the trend of young stars making their way to Stamford Bridge. But, for now, he could remain loyal to those at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium instead of completing what would be an incredibly controversial move across London this summer.

"Fantastic" Moore is one for the future

Since becoming the youngest player to feature in the Premier League for Spurs last season, the only way has been up for Moore. The 16-year-old has thrived in pre-season, even scoring the winning goal against Vissel Kobe to secure the J.League World Challenge title to hand Spurs a boost in the form of pre-season silverware.

You can see why Chelsea are interested, with the winger recently earning the praise of Ange Postecoglou as a result of his form. The Australian said via Football London: "Mikey has been fantastic since we brought him in. He’s earned his spot on the roster at the moment - he did at the end of last year.

"He got a run with the first team because we could see in training that he was handling himself really well and that’s followed through into pre-season training. He’s been good in all the games - he probably should have had three tonight, to be fair - but he did take his goal well by being in the right areas."

Whilst Tottenham Hotspur have focused on future stars so far this summer, they have reportedly registered their interest in signing a player who would instantly steal the headlines in the Premier League.

Tottenham transfer news

The Lilywhites have endured a subdued summer window, but one that could pay dividends in years to come after welcoming both Lucas Bergvall and Archie Gray. Now, according to Fabrizio Romano, those in north London are set to sign young South Korean winger Min-hyuk Yang, with the 18-year-old set to undergo a medical before re-joining Gangwon on loan until January.

Having failed to qualify for the Champions League last season, however, it wouldn't be absurd to suggest that Spurs need more than just future stars this summer, and Daniel Levy seems to be well aware of that.

According to Football Insider, Tottenham Hotspur have now made contact by registering their interest in signing Viktor Gyokeres this summer, alongside Liverpool. Both Spurs and Liverpool have entered the race, aiming to beat Arsenal to the forward, with the Gunners having a long-term interest.

Having only officially splashed out on two incomings so far in the current window, Spurs could be looking to focus their funds on triggering the Sporting CP forwards' reported £86m release clause for Ange Postecoglou.

In what could be one of the deals of the summer, Spurs would finally have their replacement for Harry Kane a year on from his exit to join Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich. Without an out-and-out goalscorer, the responsibility has fallen the way of Heung-min Son, who has done an admirable job but is, ultimately, at his best when he has a star striker to combine with.

"Elite" Gyokeres can replace Kane

Highlighted by Spurs' lack of movement on the striker front in the last year, replacing Kane is far from an easy task. The England captain is one of the best goalscorers that the Premier League has ever seen, but as Gyokeres proved last season, he should be the man that the Lilywhites finally turn to this summer. Whilst, at £86m, the deal would hardly come cheap, it is one that could take Spurs back into the Champions League.

With 29 goals from an expected 22.5, Gyokeres couldn't have been much more clinical last season. Simply put, give the striker a chance in front of goal, and the next image is more than likely to be him wheeling away in celebration. Crucially for Son too, the Spurs captain could get the chance to form a Kane-like partnership with the Swede if Spurs make their move.

Looking to seal their latest arrival, Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly booked a medical to sign another future star for Ange Postecoglou and his side.

Tottenham transfer news

It's been a summer focused on future stars in north London, with Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall arriving. Both 18-year-old midfielders, the Lilywhites may have installed the heart of Postecoglou's side for years to come. Following an impressive campaign in the Championship with Leeds United, Gray is a particular standout. Following a big-money move, the versatile teenager could make a telling impact at Spurs in the forthcoming season.

After making his first two appearances against Hearts and Queens Park Rangers in pre-season, Gray told Spurs' official website: "It's about getting used to the simple things that my teammates like on the pitch, off the pitch, ultimately, trying to get to know them.

"They’re all brilliant and have helped me so much, especially Pedro at Hearts, I’ve not played centre-back before and he was really helpful for me. Everyone in training as well, not just when we’re playing these pre-season games, on the training pitch every day, everyone is trying to help me, and I really appreciate that. They’ve been brilliant so far."

He may not have to wait long for another new teammate, either. According to Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham have now booked a medical to complete the signing of Yang Min-hyuk from Gangwon FC. The South Korean winger will reportedly become a Spurs player before re-joining Gangwon on loan until January, when he will finally join up with Postecoglou's side full-time.

Just 18 years old, Yang follows the trend of potential future stars walking through the door in north London so far this summer, joining both Gray and Bergvall.

Yang is an "immense talent"

A player who can play on the left and right wing, Yang may well be the heir to Son Heung-min's place in years to come. The Lilywhites' star man is now 32 years old and is likely to be past his best within the next couple of seasons, handing those in north London with a problem that Yang could yet solve.

Spurs hit gold with "freak" signing who's worth way more than Chiesa

Daniel Levy's shrewd nature at Tottenham Hotspur has served him well throughout his tenure as the north London club's chairman.

Spurs have achieved comparative success over the past 15 years, rising to a sustained position in the Champions League and consistently threatening to secure silverware without actually lifting a trophy.

That next step is crucial, and under Ange Postecoglou, there's a tentative sense of optimism that that goal could be realised, with purposeful signings being made in the transfer market.

Patchy form prevented Tottenham from recording a top-four Premier League finish last term but there was patent underlying progress that is now being reinforced with some exciting summer deals. Archie Gray has already signed from Leeds United for £30m and now focus is being turned to the frontline.

Latest on Spurs' pursuit of Chiesa

According to Football Transfers, Tottenham have the lead in the race to sign Juventus forward Federico Chiesa, with a strong relationship with Juventus swaying the odds as Arsenal and Liverpool also register an interest.

The Italian club need to sell and view Chiesa, who can play across the frontline, as a necessary sacrifice with just one year remaining on his current contract. It's believed that the Old Lady are fielding bids of €30m (£25m), which would be a bargain if the 25-year-old's fitness holds up.

Tottenham are fast improving and nurturing an impressive crop, and it's a testament to the work being done down N17 that there's one Lilywhite whose value eclipses that of Chiesa, just one year after his signing.

Micky van de Ven's market value in 2024

We're talking about the one and only Micky van de Ven, who was purchased from the German Bundesliga's VFL Wolfsburg in a £43m deal last summer as Postecoglou shored up his backline.

Endowed with supreme athleticism and a formidable physique, the Netherlands star shone as he utilised his pace and power to forge a steely bond with Cristian Romero in Spurs' backline, with James Maddison stating such qualities were "frightening".

As per FBref, he actually ranked among the top 10% of centre-backs in the Premier League last season for goals, the top 16% for ball recoveries, the top 2% for pass completion and the top 5% for successful take-ons per 90.

A truly astounding talent, even described as an "utter freak" by podcast host Michael Caley, Van de Ven's £43m arrival raised a few eyebrows initially; Liverpool are believed to have withdrawn from the race due to concerns about Wolfsburg's proposed price tag.

Might that opinion differ now? Probably. CIES Football Observatory - a research organisation located in Switzerland - have concluded their appraisal of the dynamic defender and marked him with a £65m market value, already £22m higher than Spurs' initial outlay.

It's a significant rise and one that is projected to continue over the coming years. Chiesa, a high-level talent in his own right, is available for £25m in what is £40m off Van de Ven.

Tottenham have a lot to do to reach the desired platform but the signs thus far are promising, and with players such as Van de Ven in the side, lofty ambitions might just be realised down the line.
