Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly sent an informal £30m proposal to sign a new player from Manchester City this summer.

Spurs already seal first summer signing

Ange Postecoglou may currently be away on pundit duty at Euro 2024, however, he outlined the need for change when it comes to his squad over the coming months. Speaking in May, the Australian said: "We need change. Change has to happen.

"You can’t want to alter your course and expect the same people are going to be on that. It’s just not going to happen. We’ve had two windows and we’ve had some development of players, for sure, but when I say we’ve still got a long way to go, that’s what I’m talking about. It’s impossible to say you’re going to have drastic change and yet expect everyone to be on that journey.

"It’s not for the want of trying. It’s just that we’re going to play a certain way, we’re going to train a certain way and we’re going to have a certain mindset. And that’s not for everyone. Whether it’s Liverpool or Arsenal, if you look at the beginning of their journeys, by the time they win the competition or have success, the team’s almost unrecognisable."

Tottenham have already secured a first summer signing, once again bringing back Timo Werner on a season-long loan from RB Leipzig, which includes an even cheaper option to buy this time round. Reports have suggested Tottenham can sign the German attacker in 2025 for around £8.5m.

Additions at the back also appear to be on Postecoglou’s to-do list, with claims that Spurs are leading the race to sign Lutsharel Geertruida from Feyenoord, offering the right-back a north London contract.

A deal for the Dutch defender could be worth around £25m, however, he isn’t the only full-back target, with a new report suggesting a fresh name on Tottenham’s radar.

Tottenham make Yan Couto proposal

According to a report from Spain in the last 48 hours, Tottenham are one of three clubs vying to sign Yan Couto from Manchester City. Premier League rivals Aston Villa and La Liga side Girona are also keen, with the Brazilian spending the last two seasons out on loan with the Spanish side.

It is stated that have Spurs have shown a strong interest, with a proposal that could exceed €35m (£30m), so Daniel Levy and co appear to have made an informal offer.

City would rather not sell to a direct rival in Spurs or Villa, but money could talk with Girona possibly finding it hard to match the finances on offer in England. Couto, primarily a right-back who can also play further forward if needed, is 22 years of age and is actually out of contract at the Etihad Stadium in 2025.

Maddison will adore him: Spurs set to trigger £60m clause for new signing

The transfer window is into its second week now, and while there have been the odd moves here and there, it's remained relatively quiet thus far.

Tottenham Hotspur have yet to make a new addition to the team, but based on recent reports, that could soon change.

The latest player touted for a move to N17 is a Premier League star and could help Ange Postecoglou's side get back into the Champions League places, while also helping to get more out of last summer's marquee signing, James Maddison.

Tottenham Hotspur transfer news

According to a recent report from talkSPORT, Tottenham have maintained their interest in Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze, and have decided that they will activate his £60m release clause.

However, fans may have to wait just a little bit longer to see the Eagles ace playing in North London, as the report has also revealed that Spurs want to clear some players off their wage bill first.

It would undoubtedly represent a massive investment from Daniel Levy and Co, but based on Eze's performances last season, one worth making, especially if he can help get more out of Maddison.

Why Eze would be a great teammate for Maddison

So, there are a few reasons why Eze would make a great teammate for Maddison, and the first is incredibly simple: his output.

In just 31 appearances last season, the "exceptional" Eagles ace, as dubbed by Statman Dave, scored 11 goals and provided six assists, meaning he provided a goal involvement every 1.8 games.

This output would make him the third most productive player at Tottenham last season, behind only Son Heung-min and Brennan Johnson, and therefore, he'd provide the former Foxes ace with plenty more opportunities to pick up an assist or score a goal himself.

The second reason the 25-year-old would help the Lilywhites co-vice-captain improve is his positional flexibility.

Despite primarily playing as an attacking midfielder, the former Queens Park Rangers star has demonstrated his versatility by starting on the left of midfield 57 times, central midfield 44 times, and on the left wing 19 times in his career.

This versatility would allow Postecoglou to play the five-capped international in the ten role when the Coventry-born dynamo needs a rest - and given his injury record, that's important - out wide to not infringing upon his game time or alongside him in the middle of the park to help with the attacking burden at times.

Ultimately, thanks to his ability to play in multiple positions on the pitch and his impressive output, Eze would be the perfect signing to try and help Maddison get back to his best, as he could help him improve his goal and assists tally without taking game time away from him and act as a stand-in when he needs a rest to prevent injury.

Therefore, while it's a lot of money, activating the £60m release clause seems like a brilliant idea.

Outscoring Richarlison for years: Spurs pushing for "mind-blowing" upgrade

Tottenham Hotspur have a massive summer ahead of them this year as, following a Premier League season full of ups and downs, they must ensure they bring in the right players to support Ange Postecoglu's vision.

The Australian already has a plethora of talented stars to choose from, such as Son Heung-min, Cristian Romero, and Destiny Udogie, but there are some who should probably be replaced in the coming weeks.

One of them is Richarlison, who, while looking good at points last year, has flattered to deceive in his two campaigns at the club.

So, it's unsurprising that one of the latest players touted for a move to Spurs is a prolific number nine who has been outscoring the Brazilian for years.

Tottenham Hotspur transfer news

According to a recent report from the Guardian, Tottenham are one of several clubs in a 'tussle' for the signature of LOSC Lille ace Jonathan David this summer.

Alongside the Lilywhites, the report names Manchester United, Chelsea and West Ham United as the interested parties.

The extra competition is far from ideal, but the good news is that the Canadian is only set to cost £20m due to his contract expiring next summer.

It could prove challenging to get ahead of the other interested parties, but considering his form in recent years and the reported price tag, Spurs cannot afford to miss out on this transfer, although it could be bad news for Richarlison.

How David compares to Richarlison

So, if Spurs can get ahead of the competition and bring David to North London this summer, his main rival for the out-and-out striker position would be Richarlison, and based on how the pair have played in recent seasons, he is unlikely to struggle in displacing him from the team.

For example, in the last four campaigns, the Lille star, whom Canadian journalist Tony Marinarohas described as "one of the best strikers in the world," has scored 84 goals and provided 18 assists in 183 appearances.

This means that, despite being just 24, he has averaged a goal involvement every 1.79 games for four years.

In contrast, the former Everton man scored 39 goals and provided 16 assists in 139 appearances in the same period, which equates to a goal involvement every 2.52 games.

Unfortunately for the Nova Venécia-born star, he doesn't fare much better when we compare their striker-relevant underlying numbers.

Here, the "mind-blowing" Lille star, as dubbed by talent scout Jacek Kulig, comes out ahead in most important metrics, including expected goals and assists, actual goals and assists, progressive passes and carries, shots on target, and both shot and goal-creating actions as well, all per 90.

In his defence, the Lilywhites nine does win out in a couple of metrics such as shots and successful take-ons, but that really is about it.

£25 million attacker who Ange personally wants has agreed to join Tottenham

A £25 million attacker, who manager Ange Postecoglou personally identified as a target, has now apparently agreed to join Tottenham this summer.

Spurs expected to go for multiple attackers after Werner deal

The north Londoners agreed their first deal of the summer in pretty quick fashion, sealing a season-long extension on Timo Werner's loan which includes an even cheaper option to buy this time round.

Spurs were only meant to have Werner from January to the end of 2023/2024, but chairman Daniel Levy re-negotiated with Leipzig to keep the German for the whole of 2024/2025. Tottenhan can now also choose to do a permanent deal next summer for just £8.5 million, coming as an astute piece of business.

However, it is believed that Postecoglou's side are not done there when it comes to signing attacking players. Reports claim Tottenham are targeting a new striker and long-term replacement for Harry Kane, and could also bring in another attacking midfielder.

Levy and co will be targeting more bargain options in this window as part of their summer overhaul, as it is claimed that Postecoglou also wishes to bolster his midfield and defence over the coming weeks.

Tottenham have reportedly considered re-signing Marcus Edwards from Sporting Lisbon as one option, as their 35% clause means they could do a deal for as little as £11 million, according to some reports out of Portugal.

Another option for Spurs could be Poland international winger Sebastian Szymanski. The Fenerbahce star, who represented his country at Euro 2024, is fresh off the back of an incredible season in the Turkish Super Lig.

He racked up an impressive 13 goals and 19 assists in all competitions for Fenerbahce last season, and there are suggestions he could leave for as little as £25 million.

According to Aslinda this week, Spurs have actually made a low-ball offer for the player, coming in at around £15 million. It was apparently rejected out of hand, but Postecoglou's side are set to try again with another proposal. While club-to-club talks go on, Tottenham are at least said to have the green light on personal terms.

Szymanski agrees to join Tottenham on four-year contract

Aslinda also state that Szymanski has agreed Tottenham personal terms over a four-year contract, and will fly for his medical at Hotspur Way if Fenerbahce and Spurs can find an agreement on price. It's added that Postecoglou personally wants the 25-year-old at his club for next season.

"He is a very productive player when viewed from the perspective of the inside right, number 8.5," said football scout Berat Kunt on his performance against France at the Euros.

"He has high pressing power, is close to scoring, and is effective in playing without the ball. When he increases his responsibility in the game setup, he reaches another level."

Leeds make contact to sign "strong" in-demand record-breaker for Farke

Looking to go one better than last season by securing promotion to the Premier League, Leeds United have reportedly made their first move to sign an in-demand free agent for Daniel Farke and his side.

Leeds transfer news

Since promotion failure, the headlines have centred mostly around the potential exit of Crysencio Summerville, who won the Championship's Player of the Season award in the last campaign. Linked with the likes of Liverpool, Newcastle United and Chelsea ever since, the Dutchman is likely to have a big decision to make this summer, as Leeds look to keep hold of their prized asset.

Alas, as the Summerville rumours continue, Leeds have been linked with fresh faces coming the other way. Recent reports have linked the Yorkshire club with the likes of Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Oliver Skipp and pending free agent Daniel Jebbison. The latter would be a bargain deal and one that the Whites could follow up with yet another free transfer.

According to Graeme Bailey for HITC, Leeds have made checks on Ryan Sessegnon who is set to become a free agent at the end the month following the expiry of his current Spurs contract. Leeds are reportedly joined by West Ham United, Rangers, Fulham, Galatasaray, Fenerbahce, Real Betis, Monza, Como and Atalanta in a packed race to secure the full-back's signature this summer.

Sessegnon, once a huge prospect at Fulham, has seen his career derailed by injuries in recent years and is in desperate need of his fresh start to go to plan. Given that the 24-year-old can play in any position on the left-hand side, he could quickly prove to be an important asset for Farke and Leeds if they complete their move in the coming months.

"Strong" Sessegnon needs next move to go right

After a dream Spurs move quickly turned into a nightmare full of injuries, Sessegnon's next move has to go in the right direction, and as Leeds aim for Championship promotion, Elland Road could be an ideal destination. The former Fulham man, who once earned a Guinness World Record for hitting both posts and the crossbar in the quickest time, would offer Farke instant competition for Junior Firpo.

When he did enjoy an injury-free run in the Spurs side, meanwhile, former manager Antonio Conte had nothing but praise for Sessegnon, saying via Football365: “About Sess, we are talking about now a young player but a reliable player who I can count on for games in the Premier League or Champions League, for every game.

“You know very well I try in every game to make the right decision but in that role I am OK because I have (Ivan) Perisic and Sessegnon, two important players. He improved a lot and I remember very well since I arrived Sessegnon was another player. Now he is a reliable player and he has great confidence. He is strong physically and improved in his quality and technically."

Personal terms agreed: Spurs could land new signing who Son would love

The transfer window swung open almost two weeks ago now, and while Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a number of players in that time, not much has changed.

However, in good news for Ange Postecoglou and the fans, for that matter, it looks like that could be about to change.

Based on recent reports, the club are making progress in negotiations for a player who could add some real attacking impetus to the Australian's side, which could help them qualify for the Champions League next season and help club captain Son Hueng-min become even more effective.

Tottenham Hotspur transfer news

According to a recent report from Turkish outlet Aslinda, Tottenham have maintained their interest in Fenerbahçe star Sebastian Szymanski and have agreed to personal terms.

The report claims that the attacking midfielder has 'no problems' with the Lilywhites and has agreed to a four-year deal.

The only issue is that the report has revealed that Daniel Levy has already had a €17.5m - £14m offer rejected, and a story via TEAMtalk in January claimed that it would cost the North Londoners around £30m to get their man.

It won't be the cheapest deal to complete, but Postecoglou and the club seem keen to get it done, and considering his campaign last season, it's not hard to see why.

Why Szymanski woud be a great teammate for Son

So, the primary reason Szymanski would be a brilliant teammate for Son is rather simple: his output.

Last season, the Polish international scored 13 goals and provided 19 assists in 55 games for the Turkish giants, a staggering average of a goal involvement every 1.71 games across that significant number of matches.

It would also make him the second most productive player at Spurs, behind the South Korean and ahead of stars like Richarlison, James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski.

Alongside his impressive output, the "exceptional playmaker," as U23 scout Antonio Mango dubbed him, has a relatively clean bill of health regarding injuries and missed games.

For example, since the start of the 2019/20 season, he has only missed 15 matches, which works out to three games per campaign. In contrast, the player he'd likely be competing with for a place in midfield, Maddison, has missed a whopping 51 games in the same period, which works out to just over ten a year.

Lastly, the 25-year-old's underlying numbers from his time in the Eredivisie were genuinely impressive.

For example, according to FBref, which compares players in similar positions across the next best 14 competitions, the "underrated" ace, as dubbed by data analyst Ben Mattinson, remains in the top 1% of midfielders for non-penalty expected goals and assists, the top 3% for touches in the opposition's penalty area, the top 4% for expected assists, and the top 9% for total shots and progressive passes received, all per 90.

Essentially, the Fenerbahçe star would bring a level of consistent output to the Lilywhites' midfield, which would, in turn, provide Son with more chances to score and more opportunities to assist.

Ultimately, Szymanski might not be a particularly well-known name to Premier League fans, but based on his form last season and the relatively modest price, he could be a brilliant addition to Postecoglou's progressive Tottenham side.

Contract offered: Spurs make big push to sign incredible Kulusevski partner

The transfer window has been open for over a week now, and while there has been some movement, Tottenham Hotspur have kept their powder dry thus far.

However, recent reports suggest that could be about to change - much to the delight of Ange Postecoglou.

Daniel Levy and Co look to have their sights set on an incredibly exciting youngster from the continent who could form a fantastic partnership with Dejan Kulusevski and help the team climb back up the Premier League table.

Tottenham Hotspur transfer news

According to a recent report from Caught Offside, Tottenham are incredibly keen on Feyenoord's star right-back, Lutsharel Geertruida, so much so that they have already offered him a contract.

The report claims that the offer is a long-term deal that runs to either 2029 or 2030 and that to tempt the Eredivisie side to sell, the Lilywhites may have to pay a fee of around €25m, which converts to £21m.

Alongside the North Londoners, the story has claims that Liverpool are also interested in the player, but nothing has been said about how advanced they are in their pursuit.

In all, it could be a tricky transfer to get over the line with the outside interest, but considering his performances last season and the reasonable price, one well worth pursuing - especially as his combination with Kulusevski could be unreal.

Why Geertruida would be a great teammate for Kulusevski

In the 2022/23 season, Kulusevski managed to rack up a haul of two goals and eight assists in 37 games, while last season, he did slightly better and returned eight goals and three assists in 39 games, but he has yet to match or surpass his 2021/22 tally of seven goals and 11 assists.

It would be fair to say, then, that considering how talented the Swede is, he has yet to hit his potential in North London, which is where Geertruida could potentially come in to help.

Able to play across the backline, U23 scout Antonio Mango claims the Dutchman possesses a great deal of "tactical nous and football IQ," which helps him excel defensively. However, he's also a fantastic attacking full-back, which could really help the Lilywhites winger.

In his 47 games for Feyenoord last season, the "impeccable" 23-year-old, as dubbed by Mango, scored nine goals and provided five assists, which is one more goal involvement than Pedro Porro managed last term, suggesting that this signing could also be a great way of getting even more out of the Spaniard at the same time.

According to WhoScored, two of the Rotterdam-born star's most significant strengths are his passing and ability to hold on to the ball, which marries up well with Mango's description of him possessing "monumental composure" and FBref's genuinely impressive scout report, which comes from looking at players in similar positions across the next best 14 competitions and ranking players on specific metrics.

For example, they have placed the 6 foot 1 titan in the top 1% for non-penalty goals, non-penalty expected goals, non-penalty goals plus expected assists, pass completion and progressive passes, the top 5% for passes attempted, the top 10% for shots total and the top 15% for shot-creating actions, all per 90.

Ultimately, Geertruida is both a competent defender and an incredible attack-minded full-back who might be able to help Kulusevski reach his true potential by forming a deadly partnership with him on the Lilywhites' right-flank under Postecoglou's progressive management.

Crucial hours: Spurs close in on signing £42m star who Maddison will love

As clichéd as it sounds, it really was a Premier League campaign of two halves for Tottenham Hotspur last season.

Ange Postecoglou got off to a brilliant start, seeing his side go unbeaten in their first ten league games, but come the final whistle on the final day, they had slipped down to fifth place.

While Europa League qualification is nothing to scoff at, it was a slightly disappointing finish considering the Lilywhites' start, and the player who best encapsulated this downturn in form was James Maddison.

The Englishman's second half of the campaign was nothing like his first, but the latest player touted for a move to N17 could be just the striker to revive his form.

Tottenham Hotspur transfer news

According to a recent report from the Spanish-American network TUDNRadio, Tottenham have maintained their interest in Feyenoord forward Santiago Gimenez.

They claim that the Mexican international is "very close" to joining Spurs and that while there is also interest from La Liga giants Atlético Madrid, we are entering "crucial hours" for the player to decide "his future."

The report does not mention a potential price the Lilywhites would have to pay, but reports from Italy last month claimed that offers of around €50m, which converts to about £42m, might be enough to tempt the Dutch side into selling.

It's not a cheap deal by any means, and the interest from Atlético is far from ideal, but it looks like this really could happen, and based on his record last season, seeing him play alongside Maddison should excite fans.

Why Gimenez would be a great teammate for Maddison

Only two Tottenham players, Son Heung-min and Richarlison, reached double figures for goals across all competitions last season, and considering the latter only hit 12 goals, that's a serious problem. However, it's one Gimenez could fix.

In his 41 games for Feyenoord last season, the 23-year-old's performance was nothing short of exceptional. He scored 26 goals and provided eight assists, averaging a goal involvement every 1.20 games, which is a frankly ridiculous rate of return.

In fact, his goal haul alone is better than Dejan Kulusevski's, Richarlison's and Brennan Johnson's, and his tally of eight assists would make him the third-best provider in the North Londoners squad.

His genuinely impressive ability to put chances away would help Maddison supercharge his assist numbers, as according to FBref, which compares players in similar positions across Europe's top five leagues, the Englishman is in the top 1% of attacking midfielders and wingers for shot-creating actions and progressive passes, the top 2% for attempted passes and the top 7% for assists, all per 90.

This measurement has been taken across the last 365 days, so even though he tailed off following his return from injury, scoring one goal and providing four assists in 17 league games, he was still creating an impressive number of chances for his teammates who, in turn, could not finish them.

Therefore, adding a player as clinical as the "Mexican machine," as talent scout Jacek Kulig dubbed him, to the team can only help the former Leicester City ace's numbers shoot back up and get back to his best.

Ultimately, based on Gimenez's form last season and Maddison's underlying numbers across the last year, this could be a transformative signing for the club and the Englishman individually, and one that'll be well worth the money.

Contact made as European club target £175,000-per-week Tottenham duo

A European club has contacted Tottenham as they target two members of Ange Postecoglou's squad, coming after the Australian suggested that a fair few players could be axed from his team over the next few transfer windows.

Postecoglou pleads for change and suggests Spurs player will leave

Earlier this year, and just before the summer window opened for business, Postecoglou explained that Spurs need to implement drastic change.

The former Celtic boss also said that it is impossible to expect every single current Tottenham player to be along for the ride, as Postecoglou looks to transform the Lilywhites into a major Premier League force.

"We need change. Change has to happen," said Postecoglou on Spurs' summer transfer business.

Ivan Perisic, Ryan Sessegnon, Eric Dier, Japhet Tanganga and Ryan Sessegnon have already departed north London, with their contracts expiring this month. Meanwhile, Tottenham have also been in talks with Genoa over selling Djed Spence permanently.

There are many more expected to depart, with AC Milan in talks to sign Emerson Royal from Spurs as well. Meanwhile, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has been widely tipped to leave for a while, and Rodrigo Bentancur is subject to audacious interest from the Turkish Super Lig.

According to A Spor, it is believed Galatasaray are targeting Bentancur and Hojbjerg for their midfield, with the Spurs duo both featuring on their summer shortlist.

Okan Buruk's side really want the former, though, with his compatriot Fernando Muslera set to try and convince Bentancur to join them. They may have more luck trying to sign Hojbjerg, given Bentancur's importance to Postecoglou, with the Uruguayan featuring in all of Tottenham's final 19 Premier League games last season - just after he returned from multiple serious injuries.

Tottenham could very suddenly sign £34m Emerson Royal replacement - report

A move to replace Tottenham defender Emerson Royal could move very fast this summer, according to one journalist, as the Lilywhites look to bolster their squad ahead of the new Premier League season.

Emerson wants out

It seems clear that it is the end of the road for Emerson at Tottenham. The Brazilian featured 22 times in Ange Postecoglou's debut Premier League season, but only started 11 times and only as a makeshift option when another defender was injured.

Now, he has been linked with a move to AC Milan, and has done nothing to play down that speculation: “The truth is that nothing is defined yet. Obviously, I know that Milan are in contact with Tottenham, they have asked for information about me. For me it’s very gratifying because many Brazilian players have played for Milan.

“Let’s wait and see what’ll happen. The Milan shirt is a very important and meaningful one. Knowing that teams like this are following me makes me very happy.”

Signed for £25m two seasons ago, the club are keen to minimise their losses on the Brazilian and are holding out for a £20m fee to let him leave, which could prove too hefty for the San Siro outfit.

The Italian side are reportedly exploring other options, such as a loan with an option to buy the defender, while they could yet move onto other targets too.

But should Emerson finally head away from north London this summer, Spurs have been tipped to replace him with a big signing.

Spurs readying £35m bid

That comes as local media in Florence claim Tottenham are in talks with Fiorentina over a move for teenage talent Michael Kayode. Spurs have seen plenty of success from Serie A in recent seasons, with Destiny Udogie perhaps the clearest example of this, and they could be set to return to their happy hunting ground once more in a bid to provide cover and competition for Pedro Porro.

Kayode has been one of Serie A's breakout stars this season, and was heralded by then Fiorentina boss Vincenzo Italiano earlier in the campaign.

“Kayode has a strong character, he fears nothing, and it’s important when you are this young,” Italiano told DAZN as per Football-Italia. “Moreover, he is physically strong and motivated after winning the (U19) Euros. When he returned to Florence, he kept the gold medal around his neck for a few days.”

He started 22 times for La Viola in Serie A, grabbing a goal and two assists in the process, and appears to have caught Tottenham's eye.

That is according to journalist Mario Tenerani, who told Firenze Viola [via Sport Witness] that Tottenham could become a serious obstacle between the defender and Fiorentina, and hinted that Spurs are willing to offer £34m to complete the deal.

“Tottenham’s pressure on Kayode could turn into a nightmare for Viola supporters. The English are serious and have significant economic possibilities. They started from €40m and for now Fiorentina have resisted, but if they were to go further the picture could change suddenly,”

Any deal will surely depend on the future of Emerson and the sum that the club are able to extract from his sale, but Kayode could be a move that advances fast in the not too distant future.
