Description

Last season was one full of ups and downs for Tottenham Hotspur as they went from looking unbeatable at one point to missing out on a top four finish the next.

However, considering Harry Kane's departure last summer and the appointment of a new manager in Ange Postecoglu, qualifying for the Europa League has to be seen as a success.

Now that the transfer window is open, Daniel Levy and Co have the opportunity to provide the Australian with the right players to push on, and based on recent reports, they seem to be doing exactly that.

The latest player touted for a move to N17 could be the perfect rival for Yves Bissouma and is someone a little too familiar to England fans following the Three Lions draw with Denmark on Thursday.

Tottenham Hotspur transfer news

According to journalist Ben Jacobs, Tottenham are one of several sides interested in signing Sporting CP's Danish midfielder, Morten Hjulmand.

Alongside Spurs, Jacobs names Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona as the other teams tracking the talented midfielder.

Unfortunately for the Lilywhites, Jacobs has confirmed that the Lisbon-based side won't entertain offers for their star six under his €80m release clause, which converts to around £68m.

However, considering his performance last season and his fantastic display against England during the week, this may well be a transfer worth splashing the cash on, especially as he could be a brilliant rival for Bissouma.

How Hjulmand compares to Bissouma

Now, if Spurs were able to sign Hjulmand this summer, he would be in direct competition with Bissouma for a place in the lineup, as they both operate primarily at the base of midfield. So, how do they compare to one another?

Well, it shouldn't surprise England fans following Thursday's result that, despite playing as a six, the Dane is more than capable of influencing things at the sharp end of the pitch.

In his 49 appearances last season, the "real threat," as data analyst Ben Mattinson dubbed him, scored four goals and provided four assists, meaning he averaged a goal involvement every 6.12 games.

In contrast, Spurs' Malian international could not provide a single goal or assist in his 28 outings in 2023/24.

What about their underlying numbers, then? Does the former Brighton & Hove man hold up better when we look under the hood?

Fortunately for him, he does indeed, as he comes out on top in several important metrics, such as progressive passes, shots and shots on target, passing accuracy, tackles, passes blocked, clearances and aerial duels won, all per 90.

However, the "defensively intelligent" Dane, as Mattinson dubbed him, comes out looking just as good.

He edges it in several other metrics, like ball recoveries, progressive passes received, non-penalty expected goals and assists, actual non-penalty goals and assists, shot and goal-creating actions, and shots blocked, and he makes considerably fewer costly errors as well, all per 90.

Ultimately, while the transfer fee may prove too significant a stumbling block for Levy and Co, they should at the very least continue to track Hjulmand and test Sporting's resolve over his availability.

He looks like the perfect player to bring in as genuine competition for Bissouma and someone who could step in to replace the Malian if his form doesn't improve next season.

Spurs eye ideal Johnson rival in £17m sensation who's "a joy to watch"

Description

The season may not have ended in the fashion fans were hoping it would, but Tottenham Hotspur appear to have taken a step back towards playing exciting and entertaining football under Ange Postecoglou.

The Australian has banished the dreary displays fans were subjected to under José Mourinho, Nuno Espírito Santo and Antonio Conte, and while a Champions League place was within their grasp, the Lilywhites look well-placed to improve next season.

However, to do that, Daniel Levy and Co need to provide the manager with the right players, and based on recent reports, they could be about to add a winger who'd be the perfect rival for last summer's most expensive signing, Brennan Johnson.

Tottenham Hotspur transfer news

According to recent reports from Portugal (via Sport Witness), Tottenham Hotspur are interested in bringing former youth player and Sporting CP star Marcus Edwards back to N17 this summer.

The report claims that the North Londoners view the Englishman as a perfect solution to their current issues surrounding home-grown players.

Moreover, it shouldn't be a particularly expensive transfer to complete either, as the report has revealed that an offer of around €20m, which converts to about £17m, would be enough to tempt the Lisbon side into selling.

Moreover, with Edwards looking for a return to England, this move seems to suit all parties, and the extra competition for Johnson might push him to reach new heights.

How Edwards compares to Johnson

Now, Edwards, whom talent scout Jacek Kulig describes as "a joy to watch", has played in several positions in his career, including out on the left, but he has started the vast majority of his games as an out-and-out right-winger. So, with Johnson set to be one of his main competitors for game time if this deal goes ahead, how do the pair stack up against one another?

Well, from a pure output perspective, it's closer than many might imagine. Last season, the Sporting ace scored six goals and provided nine assists in 44 games, meaning he averaged a goal involvement every 2.93 games. In contrast, the Lilywhites' winger returned five goals and ten assists in 38 games, equating to a goal involvement every 2.5 matches.

However, when looking at the 2022/23 campaign, the Welshman could only manage 13 goals and assists in 44 appearances for Forest, which is a goal involvement every 3.38 games, whereas the Sporting star racked up 26 goals and assists in 51 matches, equating to a goal involvement every 1.9 appearances.

How about their underlying numbers, then? Are the two widemen just as close to one another under the hood?

Interestingly, the Englishman comes out looking better in this comparison, and by quite some margin at that.

For example, while he comes out second best in some metrics such as miscontrols, number of times dispossessed and assists, he comes out ahead in most others, including non-penalty expected goals and assists, actual non-penalty goals, progressive passes and carries, shots and shots on target, ball recoveries, goal and shot-creating actions, and successful take-ons, all per 90.

Of course, the "wonderful" Sporting ace, as dubbed by Kulig, is playing in a weaker league, but the numbers are impressive.

Ultimately, Johnson had a reasonably successful debut campaign for Spurs last season and showed a great deal of potential to improve in 2024/25.

However, considering the fee being reported and his comparison to the Welshman, bringing Edwards to the club this summer could provide the perfect competition for the former Forest star, which can only be a good thing.

Tottenham consider re-signing "fantastic" ex-forward for just £11 million

Tottenham consider re-signing "fantastic" ex-forward for just £11 million - FootballFanCast.com
Description

Tottenham are considering an opportunity to re-sign a former forward for just £11 million, as manager Ange Postecoglou plots a summer overhaul.

Postecoglou admits Spurs side need "drastic" change

The Lilywhites head coach has admitted that his Spurs side need to undergo "drastic" change over the coming weeks, and over multiple windows, as Postecoglou seeks to build a winning team at N17.

Spurs sealed qualification for the Europa League with a fifth-placed finish last season, and started the 2023/2024 campaign in very exciting fashion.

Postecoglou even recorded the best start made by any new manager in Premier League history, but injuries to key players and a general drop in form meant the north Londoners couldn't maintain their place at the summit.

Speaking earlier in 2024, the Tottenham boss pulled no punches in explaining that certain players will be sacrificed on the way to becoming a winning team - drawing comparisons with Arsenal and Liverpool who've transformed significantly over the years.

"We need change. Change has to happen," said Postecoglou on Spurs' summer transfer business.

"You can’t want to alter your course and expect the same people are going to be on that. It’s just not going to happen. We’ve had two windows and we’ve had some development of players, for sure, but when I say we’ve still got a long way to go, that’s what I’m talking about. It’s impossible to say you’re going to have drastic change and yet expect everyone to be on that journey.

"It’s not for the want of trying. It’s just that we’re going to play a certain way, we’re going to train a certain way and we’re going to have a certain mindset. And that’s not for everyone.

"Whether it’s Liverpool or Arsenal, if you look at the beginning of their journeys, by the time they win the competition or have success, the team’s almost unrecognisable."

After sealing an extension on Timo Werner's loan deal, Spurs are expected to make more upgrades to their attack, as they look to continue their evolution under Postecoglou. Tottenham could even look to former forward Marcus Edwards to bolster their ranks, as explained by Portuguese newspaper Corriere de Manha this week.

Tottenham consider re-signing Marcus Edwards from Sporting

As per their information, via Sport Witness, Spurs view the 25-year-old as their "best option" to help fulfil their homegrown quota. Sporting value their winger at around £17 million, but he could prove even cheaper for chairman Daniel Levy.

The Lilywhites, due to a sell-on clause, get 35 per cent of any future Edwards transfer from Sporting. As such, a good chunk of the £17m Spurs would pay for Edwards will end up going back into their pocket.

Taking this into account, the Englishman will cost around £11 million in total for Postecoglou's side. As a result, Tottenham are seriously considering re-signing Edwards.

Spurs eye ideal Højbjerg upgrade in "technically brilliant" £25m ace

Spurs eye the perfect Højbjerg upgrade in £25m "brick wall" - FootballFanCast.com
Description

As debut campaigns go, Ange Postecoglou did a reasonably good job in charge of Tottenham Hotspur last season.

Granted, the North Londoners slipped out of the Champions League places towards the end of the year, but with a swathe of injuries, securing a place in the Europa League is nothing to scoff at.

That said, Daniel Levy and Co must back the Australian in the market this summer if they want to see him lead the team back up the Premier League table.

Based on recent reports, that might be happening, as the latest player touted for a move to N17 is a serious talent and looks to be the perfect Pierre-Emile Højbjerg replacement.

Tottenham Hotspur transfer news

According to a recent report from Italian publication Corriere Torino (via Sport Witness), Tottenham are one of several sides showing 'strong' interest in AS Monaco's star midfielder Youssouf Fofana.

Alongside the Lilywhites, the report claims that West Ham United, AC Milan and Juventus are the other sides most keen on the Frenchman.

While this competition is far from ideal, the good news is that it might not be too pricey a transfer to complete. The report claims that a fee of between €20m and €30m, which is £17m to £25m, should be enough to secure the 25-year-old's signature due to his contract expiring next year.

It might be a tough deal to negotiate with the number of other sides interested, but with the price being so reasonable, it's not one Spurs can afford to miss out on.

How Fofana compares to Højbjerg

So, with Højbjerg and Fofana both preferring to operate in defensive and central midfield areas, the two will be in direct competition for places in the team.

Alternatively, if the Dane does leave the club, the Frenchman would be his clear replacement, but how do the pair stack up against one another?

Despite starting 20 of his 35 games as a six last season, the Monaco "brick wall," as data analyst Ben Mattinson dubbed him, scored four goals and provided four assists, meaning he averaged a goal involvement every 4.37 games. In contrast, the former Southampton star couldn't produce a goal or assist in 39 first-team appearances.

However, output isn't always the most usual way of comparing players that play near the base of midfield, so how do their underlying numbers compare? Is it still an easy victory for the Ligue 1 star?

Well, while the Lilywhites ace does come out ahead in specific metrics such as progressive passes, passing accuracy, tackles, blocks, clearances and ball recoveries per 90, that is about it.

In contrast, the "technically brilliant" Monaco man, as Mattinson dubbed him, comes out ahead in most metrics, including non-penalty expected goals and assists, actual non-penalty goals and assists, shots and shots on target, progressive carries, progressive passes received, shot and goal-creating actions, successful take-ons, aerial duels won, and errors leading to a shot, all per 90.

Ultimately, while Højbjerg certainly has his strengths, his overall game is considerably less effective than Fofana.

Therefore, whether the Dane stays for another year or leaves in the coming weeks, Levy and Co should do all they can to bring the Monaco star to N17 this summer.

Tottenham now prepared to pay £38 million asking price for Euro 2024 star - FootballFanCast.com
Description

Tottenham are now prepared to pay the £38 million asking price for a Euro 2024 star this summer, after pressing forward with intent "in recent days".

Spurs looking to sign new defenders this summer

With Ryan Sessegnon, Japhet Tanganga, Ivan Perisic, Eric Dier and potentially Djed Spence out of the door already, Spurs are believed to be targeting defensive additions this summer, in an effort to hand Ange Postecoglou more strength in depth.

Sessegnon, Tanganga, Perisic and Dier are set to leave Spurs following the expiry of their contracts on June 30, while Spence is in talks over a permanent switch from Spurs to Genoa after spending the second half of 23/24 on loan there.

AC Milan are also actively pursuing a deal for Emerson Royal as well, and with the Brazilian looking likely to leave N17, Postecoglou's defence could look a bit different by the start of next campaign.

With Royal's move to Italy looking like a possibility, Tottenham could sign a new Pedro Porro back-up this summer, and it is believed that another centre-back is high up on their transfer agenda.

Spurs sealed a £25 million deal for Radu Dragusin in January, but it remains the case that they're after central defensive options to shore up Postecoglou's back line further.

The Australian, speaking to media earlier this year, even admitted that it would be one of their priorities for this window.

“If you’re saying, ‘Is it an area we can strengthen?’, yes it’s an area we will probably look at”, said Postecoglou on signing another centre-back. “With all these things, it’s about trying to strengthen the group as much as anything else.

"If you think about when I first arrived, we had maybe six or seven centre-backs at the club. So it’s not just numbers. It’s more about the ability of those players to play the football we want and to fit in to what we’re trying to build here.

“I think it is an area of the park we will look to strengthen, but I think we’ll look to strengthen all areas of the park come the end of the season. That is planning that’s already underway, and other people are in charge of it at the moment.”

Tottenham prepared to pay asking price for Calafiori

According to Tutto Juve, an update has emerged on their pursuit of Euro 2024 star Riccardo Calafiori. The Italy centre-back was called "extraordinary" by Gianluca Zambrotta for his performance against Albania in their opening group game, and was unfortunate for the ball to deflect off him and into the back of his own net during their 1-0 defeat to Spain on Thursday.

Tutto claim Spurs have moved to evaluate the conditions of a move for the 22-year-old "in recent days", and it is believed Tottenham are prepared to pay Bologna's £38 million asking price for Calafiori.

However, they still have some convincing to do on the player's side, as it is believed he prefers a move to Juventus right now.

He's like Isak: Spurs eye "insane" £25m Richarlison upgrade

He's like Isak: Spurs eye "insane" £25m Richarlison upgrade - FootballFanCast.com
Description

With the transfer window now officially open, Tottenham Hotspur must work fast to bring in the players Ange Postecoglou needs to make a real push back into the top four next season.

Luckily for the Australian, Daniel Levy and Co are doing precisely that, as the club have been linked to names like Eberechi Eze and Ivan Toney in the last few days.

However, the latest player touted for a move to N17 has been likened to Alexander Isak and could be the perfect Richarlison upgrade.

Tottenham Hotspur transfer news

According to a recent report from the i, Tottenham are one of several clubs interested in signing LOSC Lille's Jonathan David this summer.

Alongside the Lilywhites, the report claims that West Ham United, Aston Villa, and Manchester United are all keen on the Canadian, with the latter having already contacted the player's representatives.

While the interest from other sides is far from ideal, the good news is that, according to the i, the forward will be available for as little as £25m due to his contract expiring next year.

It may prove challenging to get ahead of the other interested clubs, but at that price, Spurs cannot afford to miss out on the opportunity to upgrade Richarlison with David, especially when he's been compared to Isak.

How David compares to Isak and Richarlison

So, before we look at how David compares to Richarlison, let's first examine this comparison to Isak, which primarily stems from FBref.

They look at every player in Europe's top five leagues and then construct a list of the ten most similar players for each position, and according to them, the Newcastle United star is the seventh most similar forward to the Lille man in the top five leagues.

This can be seen best in some of their underlying numbers, such as non-penalty goals, progressive passes, shots on target, goals per shot, and shot on target and shot and goal-creating actions, all per 90.

So, with his similarities to the Swedish international cleared up, how does the "absolutely insane" marksman, as dubbed by U23 scout Antonio Mango, compare to the Lilywhites Brazilian number nine?

Well, when it comes to the most essential aspect of a forward, their output, it's a win for the Lille man, and it's not even close.

In his 47 appearances this season, he scored 26 goals and provided nine assists, averaging a goal involvement every 1.3 games.

In comparison, the former Everton man managed a reasonable but nowhere near as impressive haul of 12 goals and four assists in 31 games, which equates to a goal involvement on average every 1.9 games.

Ultimately, while Richarlison is a talented player, he has not been clinical enough in the two seasons he has been at Spurs, so if David is available for just £25m, signing him to replace the 27-year-old seems like a no-brainer.

Perfect for Eze: Spurs eye Maddison upgrade in "exceptional" £30m ace - FootballFanCast.com
Description

It really was a campaign of ups and downs for Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League last season.

Ange Postecoglou managed to secure Europa League football for the Lilywhites, but at one point, the team looked nailed on for a Champions League spot.

So, it's unsurprising that the club are heavily linked with several star names, such as Eberechi Eze, ahead of a long transfer window.

That said, the latest ace touted for a move to N17 could spell trouble for James Maddison and be the ideal partner for Eze.

Tottenham Hotspur transfer news

According to a recent report from Ben Jacobs via GIVEMESPORT, Tottenham are one of several sides interested in Fenerbahçe star Sebastian Szymanski this summer.

Alongside the Lilywhites, Jacobs names Lazio and Marseille as some of the other interested parties in the Polish international, whom new boss José Mourinho is keen to keep in Istanbul.

Jacobs does not mention a potential price, but a report from Turkish outlet Aksam earlier this year claimed he would be sold for around €35m, which converts to about £30m.

It might not be a name that excites people in England, but given his impressive performances in Turkey, signing Szymanski would be a fantastic idea, and if he were to play alongside Eze, Postecoglou should be able to get the team back into the top four - although it could be bad news for Maddison.

How Szymanski compares to Maddison and why he'd work well with Eze

If Spurs were to get their man and bring Szymanski in this summer alongside Eze, he'd be in direct competition with Maddison for a starting role as the team's most attacking midfielder, as while he has started games deeper and out wide before, he's started the vast majority of games in attacking midfield.

So, if it's going to be a battle between the two of them going forward, who looks to be the better option?

Well, from a pure output perspective, the Polish international comes out on top and by quite some margin.

In 55 games for Sarı Kanaryalar last season, the "exceptional" talent, as dubbed by U23 scout Antonio Mango, scored 13 goals and provided 19 assists, meaning he averaged a goal involvement every 1.71 games.

In contrast, the former Foxes star scored four goals and provided nine assists in 30 games, equating to a goal involvement every 2.3 games.

This incredible rate of return would also make the former Feyenoord ace the perfect partner for the Crystal Palace star at Tottenham, as he'd be able to take advantage of the chances created by the Englishman and provide him with chances himself.

Moreover, the Greenwich-born dynamo's incredible versatility could see him start alongside the Fenerbahçe star in midfield as an offensively-minded eight or out wide when club captain Son Heung-min needs a rest.

Ultimately, Szymanski might not be an overly familiar name to fans of English football, but his unreal performances last season more than justify Spurs' pursuit of him.

His potential partnership with Eze could be a thing of footballing beauty, although perhaps not for Maddison.

Tottenham could offer Dragusin in swap deal for £34 million Euro 2024 ace

Tottenham could offer Dragusin in swap deal for £34 million Euro 2024 ace - FootballFanCast.com
Description

Tottenham could offer up defender Radu Dragusin in a swap deal to sign one Euro 2024 star, despite the Romanian only joining six months ago.

How Dragusin has played since joining Spurs

Signing in a £25 million deal from Genoa in the winter, with right-back Djed Spence going the other way on loan, Dragusin has since managed to rack up nine Premier League appearances for Spurs and 424 minutes of action in total.

Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero are currently manager Ange Postecoglou's favoured starting centre-back pair, and for good reason, considering both men were crucial in Spurs' chase for Europe last season.

An injury to van de Ven midway through the campaign highlighted the club's lack of depth at centre-half, though, prompting them to make a move for Dragusin as much-needed cover for the Dutchman and Romero.

The 22-year-old, currently representing Romania at the Euros, was given a succession of cameos off the bench at the start of his Spurs career - but injuries eventually gave Postecoglou to hand Dragusin his first full starts against Fulham and Luton Town.

A season-ending injury to Destiny Udogie meant Dragusin was given the nod for Tottenham's final two games against Man City and Sheffield United, with van de Ven moving to left-back and the former Serie A star put in at centre-half.

There were some regrettable outings from Dragusin during his first six months at N17, like his performance in Spurs' 3-0 away defeat to Fulham, but the youngster has also displayed real assurance at times.

“He hasn’t gone out at all in London, to go out clubbing or anywhere," said his agent, Florin Manea, in an interview with Fanatik.

"I don’t even know he’s gone out to eat twice. He doesn’t go out. We went out twice to a restaurant. He leaves at 9am, and comes back at 3-3.30pm, because he puts in an extra two hours of gym every day and an hour on the pitch.

“It’s not exactly easy. It’s like having a job. He grafts and grafts. There’s also this pressure, he’s thinking about the national team, the Euros. He really wants to succeed. I think we can already say that he is one step in the winning boat.”

Dragusin has the potential to be a hero at Spurs, but reports suggest this summer window could have more part-exchange deals than usual. That is the theme of Aston Villa's business so far, as they look to bring in Samuel Iling-Junior from Juventus with Douglas Luiz going the other way.

Tottenham have been tipped with a swap deal to sign Leeds United's Archie Gray as well, with Joe Rodon or Oliver Skipp going to Leeds as makeweights.

Tottenham could use Dragusin in swap deal to sign Kristjan Asllani

According to a surprise report from Inter Live, Tottenham could actually use Dragusin in a swap deal to sign Kristjan Asllani. The Albania ace at Euro 2024 would traditionally cost up to £34 million, such is Inter's valuation, with the highly-rated 22-year-old impressing across 33 appearances in all competitions for the Nerazzurri last season.

Sky Sports journalist Dan Bardell has suggested that Tottenham could use defender Joe Rodon and midfielder Oliver Skipp as makeweights in a transfer for an exciting £50 million player.

Tottenham targeting new midfielder this summer

Amid uncertainty surrounding the futures of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Giovani Lo Celso and even Yves Bissouma (The Times), there are suggestions that Ange Postecoglou could look to the transfer market in search of a new number six.

Chelsea star Conor Gallagher remains on Spurs' radar as an option for the role, while there have been reports linking Tottenham with Atalanta star Ederson as an alternative to the England international.

Postecoglou could benefit from the arrival of a dynamic, young and exciting new midfied engine man, with the Australian set to oversee numerous more games next season as well - due to Tottenham's involvement in the Europa League.

The right-back position could also see some changes ahead of next season, as both Djed Spence and Emerson Royal could quit Tottenham by the start of next campaign. Genoa are attempting to sign Spence on a permanent deal, while AC Milan are actively pursuing a move for Royal.

A new full-back and midfielder may well be needed, but one player who can actually fill both roles is Leeds United starlet Archie Gray. The teenage sensation was an ever-present under Daniel Farke as the Whites narrowly missed out on promotion, and he's been linked with a move to Spurs in the last month.

Tottenham could use Skipp and Rodon in swap deal for Gray

Speaking to Tottenham News, Sky journalist Bardell has suggested that Spurs could use Skipp and Rodon as makeweights in a potential deal for Gray - who Leeds are said to value at around £50 million.

“It’s a deal that would make sense," said Bardell. "I think we’re going to see these sorts of untraditional swaps this window with clubs looking to manipulate the market.

"Archie Gray feels like a player that would suit Tottenham and suit Ange Postecoglou. That would leave Skipp surplus to requirements, he’s not first choice anyway and Gray coming in would put him further down the pecking order.

“He’s a player that needs a fresh start. Obviously, Rodon was there last season and they would take him back. If they helped get Tottenham closer to a move for Archie Gray then that would be a superb piece of business.“

The Englishman is a rising star at Elland Road, with some members of the media even tipping him to cost upwards of £70 million after his fine campaign, a fee Spurs could obviously bring down with the sales of the aforementioned duo.

"Archie's had a fantastic season for Leeds," said pundit Carlton Palmer to Football League World last campaign.

"Gray has been outstanding, with 36 league appearances so far this season, proving both his versatility and his ability. The 18-year-old's current deal has him with the club until 2028, but the club are looking to extend that even further. This makes sense, to tie the player down, with speculation surrounding him from top Premier League clubs and European teams.

"Gray's only 18, but he's doing well under Daniel Farke by playing regularly, so shouldn't be in any rush to leave. But Leeds want to protect themselves, for sure, by tying him down to a longer-term contract, and I'm sure there would be a massive release clause in there. Leeds would probably be looking for £70-80 million for him."

Talks planned: Spurs eyeing record-breaking transfer who Son would love

Talks planned: Spurs eyeing record-breaking transfer who Son would love - FootballFanCast.com
Description

Forget the Euros, it's transfer season!

It's that time of the year that can spring up some genuinely surprising moves and some mind-bogglingly expensive ones to boot, and it looks like Tottenham Hotspur are ready to spend big.

According to recent reports, Daniel Levy and Co have planned talks to land a Premier League star who would become the club's record signing and be unreal next to Son Heung-min.

Tottenham Hotspur transfer news

According to a recent report from Football Transfers, Tottenham are very interested in bringing Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze to North London this summer.

In fact, the report has revealed that the Lilywhites are set to have talks at the end of the week over the potential signing and that the player's camp expects that if his asking price of around £60m is met, the South Londoners will let him join Ange Postecoglou's revolution in N17.

This deal would require the club to smash their current transfer record, which is £55m for Tanguy Ndombele in 2019 - his output didn't see the add-ons activated - but with Eze open to the transfer, Levy and Co must do what they can to make it happen.

His performances for Palace last season were spectacular, and his inclusion in a Spurs team could help Son reach new levels.

Why Eze would be a great signing for Spurs

There are a few reasons why the four-capped England international would be a quality addition to Postecoglou's team and the first is his versatility.

In 260 games, the 25-year-old has started in attacking and central midfield, left and right midfield, on both wings and even as a defensive midfielder and a centre-forward - talk about a utility player.

However, were he to move to N17 this summer, he'd likely play most of his games in midfield or occasionally out on the left, and could therefore form a brilliant partnership with club captain, Son.

The South Korean returned a staggering 27 goals and assists in 36 games last season from the left-wing and striker positions, and he did so while the team's most efficient midfielder, James Maddison, could only manage four goals and ten assists.

This is where the Palace ace comes in, as in 31 games - one more than Maddison - he managed a tally of 11 goals and six assists, meaning he averaged a goal involvement every 1.8 games to the former Leicester City ace's average of every 2.3 matches.

Now, the "beautiful" Eagles attacker, as England manager Gareth Southgate dubbed him, may not always start ahead of the Lilywhites co-vice-captain, but he'd provide genuine competition in that number ten role, and his versatility means he could step in for Son when he needs rest on the left.

Ultimately, breaking the club's transfer record to bring in a player is nothing to take lightly, but Eze has been incredible for Palace over the years, and he could be even better alongside Son at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
