The Norway international is undoubtedly a difficult man to replace, such is his creative quality, but those in North London may just be regretting their failure to at least attempt to sign an alternative option.

However, they could yet make up for that regret by beating rivals Spurs to one particular target in 2025. According to Football Transfers, Spurs are now fearful that Eberechi Eze has been speaking to Arsenal or Manchester City instead of them and that he has had his head turned by the Premier League's leading clubs.

It came as a surprise to everyone that Eze didn't attract more interest in the summer window, including Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish who said via Sky Sports: "I was really worried from a club point of view of losing Michael and Ebbs in the same window and we didn't have in Ebbs the interest that I thought we would have. I was astounded. Genuinely astounded. I mean, the guy's just an outstanding footballer, an outstanding person."

"Outstanding" Eze would compete with Odegaard

Not many players in world football are capable of competing with Odegaard, but Eze is one of the select few. A player with plenty of creative flair who also has an eye for goal, Eze still looks destined for the top even without a move in the summer just gone and could yet join title contenders Arsenal in 2025, much to Spurs' disappointment.

Looking at the numbers, Eze would offer Arsenal something slightly different to Odegaard. The England international is a far more direct player, whereas Odegaard's intricate passing often tells the story of his quality.

If the Gunners can combine the two then they may well find the key to unlocking the silverware that they have been craving. A lot could still happen, however, and with Manchester City sniffing around, Arsenal must act fast if they are to secure Eze's signature.

Whether it's January or next summer, there's no doubt that Eze has earned a big move and one that even Parish expected him to come close to in the last transfer window.

Odobert has provided a solid option for Spurs in recent games, but given the importance of the fixture this weekend, he may be forced to make way and take his place on the bench.

He would be lucky to maintain his place, especially considering the potential return of one player who has missed the last couple of outings for the Lilywhites.

Striker Dominic Solanke has missed the last two league outings after suffering an ankle injury during his debut against Leicester City on the opening weekend of the campaign.

The 27-year-old moved to the capital in a club-record £65m move from fellow Premier League side Bournemouth - with Postecoglou looking to add further firepower to his attack.

The attacking “phenomenon”, as described by former Gunner Ian Wright, has yet to find the back of the net, but his tally of 19 league goals for the Cherries last season proves that he has the ability to cause chaos in the final third.

Whilst it’s unknown how much match fitness he will possess after his injury setback, Solanke does have the talent that could cause Arsenal’s backline a lot of trouble during the local derby.

Since the departure of Kane to Bayern Munich last summer, the club have lacked that number nine to help catapult the club into a top-four place in the Premier League.

It will undoubtedly be a cagey affair playing Arsenal, but the Englishman’s talent in attacking areas could provide the difference in the final third, ending the 28-month wait for a victory over their bitter rivals.

What's more, the fact that the Everton forward will be out of contract next summer makes the deal one that Spurs would be wise to pursue, should they be given the opportunity. Even if the Englishman hasn't been at his best in the last two seasons at Goodison Park, just having such a different option to partner and back Solanke up may well prove to make all the difference for Postecoglou and his side.

If Spurs sign Calvert-Lewin and get him back to his best then they'll suddenly have two Premier League strikers capable of scoring double figures in goals a season. And in pursuit of a top four place, that would quickly prove to be crucial for Postecoglou.

Sean Dyche will be frustrated to see his forward leave if he does depart, however, having been full of praise for Calvert-Lewin last season, telling BBC Sport "I thought he was excellent. His physical performance was outstanding.

"I said to him after the match, 'That is the sort of performance that gets you back around the England squad'. It is too early yet and I am not making any bold statement because Gareth Southgate has a lot of players to choose from, but certainly with that kind of performance he should be recognised as a top centre forward."

The fact that it would likely be a free deal too, means that Spurs would not be running a great risk by signing Calvert-Lewin. All signs point towards a deal that the Lilywhites would be wise to pursue next summer, especially if Postecoglou does want a physical presence to partner big-money signing Solanke in North London.

Comparisons to Anthony Gordon and Federico Chiesa highlight his potential.

“Yang loves to charge forward with the ball, whether along the flanks or through the middle, overwhelming defenders with his pace. Defensively, he’s underrated, often intercepting passes and reading plays before they unfold.”

The winger will almost be like a new signing when he fully links up with Postecoglou's squad mid-season, but it is believed that min-Hyeok may not be their only fresh arrival next year.

Tottenham have first-option to sign Johnny Cardoso from Real Betis, as part of the deal which saw Giovani Lo Celso return to his former club, while there are suggestions that Spurs are frontrunners for Jonathan David as the Lille striker's contract ticks down towards expiry at the end of this season.

Former keeper Paul Robinson also believes that Lange needs to sign another centre-back for Spurs in January, and the pundit is adamant that Postecoglou is pretty light in that area, despite bringing in Radu Dragusin as cover last January.

According to Milan Live, the north Londoners could also seek to bolster their attacking options, with Switzerland and AC Milan forward Noah Okafor emerging as a transfer target.

The 24-year-old, who bagged six goals and two assists in Serie A last season, made the vast majority of his 28 league appearances off the substitute's bench. Okafor has already opened his account for this season, though, starting two of their opening three top flight matches.

However, Milan Live claim the former Red Bull Salzburg starlet is seen as a reserve in the eyes of Rossoneri boss Paulo Fonseca, and he could choose to leave in January.

This is where Postecoglou's side come in, as it is claimed Tottenham have told Milan they're ready to pay £17 million for Okafor. The recruitment team are apparently scouring for new attacking reinforcements ahead of the second half of 24/25, and Okafor fits the bill.

"In the past, he had a lot of minor injuries that sometimes prevented him from performing," said Mauro Lustrinelli, Okafor's coach at Under-21 level for Switzerland.

"He is now in very good physical condition. We already knew that he had magnificent technical qualities, speed and power. In recent months, he has also grown mentally, even though he is a very sensitive player, and that shows on the pitch."

Arsenal are plotting a "potential big-money" move for a player who once commanded a price tag of around £137 million, and the presence of manager Mikel Arteta could be a very enticing draw for him.

“He’s willing and he wants to be present in every game, especially a big game like this one. We need to make sure we know first how good he can be or not.”

"He tried to improve my football; he told me what I did good and what I did wrong, and he tried to work on it. Next to Pep, they both really helped me and improved me, to bring me to the next level.

“Even now, at Arsenal, for me you can see he’s doing a great job. You can see he has a concept, a way that he wants to play, a way that he wants his team to play, and obviously it will take some time until everybody really understands it. I think he will do a great job as a [head] coach too."

Speaking in his pre-match press conference on Friday, the Lilywhites head coach announced that both Richarlison and Will Lankshear are out injured for Tottenham, and will miss the derby tomorrow as a result.

The Spurs duo are currently in rehab following their injury problems, so Postecoglou won't be able to call upon his £60 million Brazil striker against Arsenal.

Lankshear's hamstring injury has kept him sidelined for the last few weeks, which will be frustrating for the young forward, who is looking to break into Postecoglou's first-team after showing a lot of promise at academy level.

"Do you know what I’ve noticed, I’ve been really impressed with how he just finishes his chances," said pundit John Wenham to Football Insider on Lankshear.

“There are no mistakes, He doesn’t have any caveats so his game so far but he is only 17 and I think he is a complete finisher at the moment. But, if in time we can see him improve his passing levels then maybe we can look at him as a Harry Kane-lite or something like that."

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Arteta shared news that Jesus will potentially be selected to play Tottenham, as the £265,000-per-week star is seemingly nearly fully recovered from a groin problem.

“Gabi was out there," said Arteta on Jesus' availability for tomorrow. "He’s got another session tomorrow and if everything goes well he’ll be ready to be selected in the squad which is great news for us.”

While Raheem Sterling is contending to play as a false-nine, having Jesus as a centre-forward alternative comes as an undoubted boost for Arsenal. The arrival of Postecoglou at the start of 2023/24 saw a huge increase in first-team minutes for the Senegalese youngster, featuring in 34 league matches for a combined 2085 minutes - a near 10x increase from the season prior.
