Leeds United have finally confirmed their sixth summer signing in the form of Manor Solomon on a season-long loan from Tottenham Hotspur, on Tuesday evening.

Solomon, 25, joins the club on a season-long loan from Tottenham as Leeds and Spurs continue to develop a relationship in the transfer market. The Israel international is the club’s sixth summer signing.

His arrival at Leeds comes after a couple of days of waiting, with Leeds completing a medical for the player over the weekend. But a bank holiday and Ajax interest saw a deal take longer than expected.

His arrival comes a week after Largie Ramazani was signed from Almeria for £10m. Ramazani and the Tottenham man are expected to be replacements for Crysencio Summerville and Georginio Rutter.

Solomon will wear no.14 as Leeds confirm loan arrival

The former Shakhtar Donetsk star joins Leeds as Gretar Steinsson wields his Tottenham connections yet again. It saw Steinsson sign Joe Rodon and Djed Spence on loan from Spurs last season, after joining.

Leeds have confirmed that Solomon will wear the no.14 shirt at Elland Road. Last season, Rodon wore the 14 shirt but has of course since taken the no.6 jersey. Diego Llorente wore it beforehand, before his exit.

Other famous no.14’s at Leeds include Eric Cantona, John Stiles, Rod Wallace, Jon Newsome and the infamous Swedish star Tomas Brolin. Solomon could make his debut this weekend against Hull City.

What Leeds said in Solomon statement after his confirmation

The loan move for Solomon has taken longer than expected but Leeds have finally got their man. In their official statement, they explained how they did a deal for Solomon and why it did take so long.

“Beating off competition from a number of top-flight sides across Europe for his signature, the deliberate strategy of remaining patient in the transfer window has paid dividends,” Leeds said on their site.

“The club were able to act quickly to secure the services of a player who only became available in recent days. The 25-year-old moves to Elland Road from North London, joining Leeds on a season-long loan.

What Leeds United sources have now said about move for Tottenham star Manor Solomon on loan

With a deal taking time to complete for Tottenham Hotspur star Manor Solomon, Leeds United fans are growing increasingly concerned that a deal could be about to collapse.

Not only that but it has been reported that while the 25-year-old has passed a medical at Leeds ahead of a loan, the finances being offered by Leeds for Solomon are significantly different to what Spurs want.

Solomon is a Premier League-standard player but the Israel winger only managed six appearances for Spurs last season, after tearing the meniscus in his knee. He needs a loan to get back to his best ability.

Leeds had been expected to sign him after Solomon rejected a move to Getafe. But now, there are concerns regarding the length of time it is taking to get a deal done for the versatile Spurs attacker.

What Leeds sources have said about Solomon loan move

As always, the Yorkshire Evening Post are on hand to deliver an overriding update on news regarding a move for Solomon. They say that a move is very much on with a medical completed over the weekend.

It is believed that Solomon’s deal is taking longer than other Leeds transfers at this stage, even if Largie Ramazani’s move was also drawn out until the club finally confirmed the £10m signing of the Belgian.

Talks are ongoing and the YEP say that a deal for Solomon is still on and remains possible. Given he has passed a medical however, it would be a surprise to see it fall and in turn, a big frustration for fans.

Where would Solomon play in Leeds XI under Daniel Farke?

Leeds now seem to be aflush with wingers. Dan James and Wilfried Gnonto remain from last season while Brenden Aaronson is back at the club, and already the club’s top scorer this season with two league goals.

Ramazani is largely a winger and is unlikely to be given responsibility as a no.10. His pace is much more suited to getting in behind, rather than being the player to thread the ball into an on-rushing speedster.

‘Not certain’… Update given on Manor Solomon’s move to Leeds United with a medical completed

Leeds United had been expected to complete and announce the signing of Manor Solomon on loan from Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday or today, but now there are said to be difficulties.

Solomon, 25, emerged as an option for Leeds as The Yorkshire club look to bring in replacements for Georginio Rutter and Crysencio Summerville. Of course, Largie Ramazani has been signed by The Whites.

Israel star Solomon is said to have been at Leeds to do a medical ahead of a season-long loan to Leeds. The connection between Tottenham and Leeds is strong, since the arrival of Gretar Steinsson at Leeds.

Joe Rodon and Djed Spence joined on loan last season, before Archie Gray swapped clubs and Rodon was signed by Leeds permanently. Now, former Fulham star Solomon could be the next to end up at Leeds.

New twist in Leeds push to agree Solomon loan deal

Solomon had been expected to join Ramazani in becoming a part of Daniel Farke’s new-look Leeds attack either on Sunday or today. But, reporter Shay Lugassi has delivered a Solomon update on social media.

He says that Solomon – who managed just six outings for Spurs last season after tearing his meniscus – has passed a medical at Leeds but a move is “uncertain” with finances separating Leeds and Tottenham.

Indeed, head of renowned Barcelona page Barca Times, Lugassi said that talks are continuing between the two parties to try and find a resolution. However, the player’s camp may consider new options.

“MANOR SOLOMON UPDATE: The move to Leeds United is not certain! Solomon has completed the medical tests but there are quite significant financial differences between the clubs,” Lugassi reported.

“Talks continue between the parties. The player’s camp also does not rule out additional options before the window closes,” the reporter continued, throwing Solomon’s move to Leeds into significant doubt.

Solomon possibly too good to be true as Leeds struggle

When news of Solomon’s arrival first emerged, it immediately seemed like a massive coup. A player that has starred in the Premier League and won numerous league titles with Shakhtar Donetsk in Ukraine.

Able to play on either flank or in the 10 in the Championship, he would be a game changer in the second tier. Jamie O’Hara reached to the news Solomon could join Leeds by saying he could “rip up” the league.

There is no doubting that Solomon is a top player and probably, wouldn’t be considering a move to Leeds had he not picked up an injury. But, it now sounds a move was always too good to be true.

Leeds United should sell £10.5m attacker after bringing in Manor Solomon

Manor Solomon’s arrival from Tottenham gives Leeds United real depth in the attacking positions, but doesn’t really solve their number 10 dilemma.

Solomon is set to join on a season-long-loan deal from Spurs subject to the passing of a medical today (Saturday 24 August), making it two attacking signings in just three days.

Leeds have not negotiated a purchase option in the deal for Solomon, whose preference has always been to stay in England, after rejecting an offer from La Liga side Getafe.

Despite encountering some serious injury problems during his time at Spurs, Solomon is seen as a big coup at this level considering his time at both Shakhtar Donetsk and Fulham.

Incidentally, he scored an excellent goal in the FA Cup for Fulham against Leeds almost 18 months ago and hopefully there will be more of them at Elland Road.

Leeds face Joel Piroe decision after Solomon arrival

The only confusing aspect of the deal bringing Solomon to Leeds is whether Daniel Farke sees him as the Geirginio Rutter replacement.

With Largie Ramazani brought into fill the Crysencio Summerville-shaped hole, Farke’s other attacking priority was to do the same with Rutter, but Solomon is very much a left-winger in the mould of what they already have.

MORE LEEDS UNITED STORIES

As such, either a new left-footed right-winger, or number 10 certainly would not go amiss in the next six days, but surely the only chance of that happening is if someone departs.

Given how important of a position it is, Leeds should look to do exactly that and Joel Piroe is the most obvious choice to be moved on.

Piroe started at number 10 in last weekend’s 0-0 draw at West Bromwich Albion and looked incredibly ineffective, which saw him dropped to the bench for the win at Sheffield Wednesday and receive just a handful of minutes.

Since his £10.5 million arrival from Swansea City 12 months ago, Piroe has had spells in the team both leading the line and in attacking midfielder, but just hasn’t made an impact in either.

Game time is now only going to be more limited with the options Farke has in attack, meaning it would make sense for all parties if he was to depart.

Who should Leeds bring in as his replacement?

Moving Piroe on would open up space for Leeds to bring in a left-footed right-winger and the fact they have been linked with so many, could indicate it is still on the cards.

Roland Sallai, Manuel Benson and Ilan Kebbal have all been mentioned as options, but it would be the arrival of the former which really sends out a statement.

It would allow Wilfried Gnonto to move central, where he shone so brightly at Hillsborough, with Ramazani and Solomon competing on the left.

Aaronson would then be Gnonto’s competition, with James the same for Sallai. That would be proper squad depth and show there is no room for Piroe.

Whether Leeds United have an option-to-buy Manor Solomon from Tottenham as loan deal agreed

Manor Solomon is expected to become signing number six of the summer at Leeds United.

Solomon is set to join on a season-long-loan deal from Tottenham Hotspur and is believed to be undergoing a medical ahead of his proposed switch today (Saturday 24 August).

It was always expected to be a busy end to the window at Elland Road and so Solomon is the second of two new signings in a matter of just three days.

UD Almeria’s Largie Ramazani was the start of Leeds‘ late summer recruitment drive, after putting pen-to-paper on a four-year-deal on Thursday.

Having lost both Georginio Rutter and Crysencio Summerville this month, Leeds’ options behind the striker are all of a sudden looking much stronger after the signings of Ramazani and Solomon.

Whether Leeds have option-to-buy Solomon

It will certainly be interesting to see what Leeds do in the next six days, with a new central midfielder and full-back already known to be on the agenda.

However, Solomon does not really fit the bill of a Rutter replacement given that his best position is off the left, and so it will be interesting to see if they bring in another left-footed attacker.

MORE LEEDS UNITED STORIES

Money is certainly there to be spent given Leeds have raised the most amount of cash in player sales across Europe this summer.

Farke also claimed earlier this month that he would always prefer a permanent signing to a loan but opportunities to sign someone like Solomon at this level cannot be passed up.

Given his Premier League and European pedigree, many supporters will be wondering if Leeds have the option-to-buy Solomon at the end of the season, particularly if promotion is achieved.

And a new report from the Athletic this morning has clarified that situation, confirming Leeds have not negotiated a purchase clause in the deal.

Leeds and Tottenham continue off-field relationship

Leeds and Tottenham have seemingly built a very healthy relationship behind-the-scenes in the last 12 months, with a number of transfers having been made between the two clubs.

This is likely to stem from the fact technical director Gretar Steinsson joined Leeds from Spurs, as well as the fact Angus Kinnear has a good relationship with Daniel Levy.

Solomon is set to become the third player signed from Spurs by Leeds in as many windows, following both Joe Rodon and Djed Spence. Rodon has, of course, been made permanent this summer, too.

Going the other way, Archie Gray made the move to North London in a deal worth around £40 million, a deal which ultimately suited all parties.

What Ange Postecoglou has said about Manor Solomon’s future at Tottenham with Leeds contenders to sign him

Leeds United are in the mix for Tottenham Hotspur attacker Manor Solomon with reports emerging just hours after Leeds struck a deal for Almeria’s Largie Ramazani.

Ramazani, 23, has arrived in England from Spain after a £10m deal was agreed between The Whites and recently-relegated Almeria. Belgium U21 star Ramazani had entered the final year of his Almeria deal.

Exciting winger Ramazani is set to put pen to paper on a four-year deal at Leeds, as Daniel Farke’s side finally make a move a month after their last signing in the form of Jayden Bogle from Sheffield United.

But Leeds are not done there with new reports of players being linked with Leeds emerging by the hour. The latest is Tottenham’s Israel international Solomon, who is on the comeback trail after a torn meniscus.

What Postecoglou has said about Solomon’s future this month

Solomon moved to England in the summer of 2022 initially on loan from Shakhtar Donetsk, joining Fulham. He scored five goals in 24 games for The Cottagers, including an FA Cup goal against Leeds.

It saw him earn a move to Tottenham but after just six appearances last season, he picked up a horrific knee injury. Now fit, Leeds are eyeing a move for Solomon ahead of the deadline on August 30.

Postecoglou commented on the future of Solomon earlier this month, in quotes published by Football London. He said: “Those things are in the player’s hands, where they see themselves and what they want.

MORE LEEDS UNITED STORIES

“That doesn’t mean things won’t change and you have to embrace and accept that. Whether they think that this is the right place to progress. I’ve always respected that those decisions come down to them.”

Where does Solomon fit into Daniel Farke’s starting XI?

There is no doubt that a player of Solomon’s quality should be starting in a Championship side. Leeds may only have a chance of nabbing the Spurs star because of his injury, but he would be a top signing.

So, with Ramazani incoming and both Dan James and Wilfried Gnonto still at Leeds, where does the Spurs ace fit? The chances are, Farke is going to have to make some difficult decisions in the next few weeks.

This is of course, if Solomon does join. While James and Ramazani are wingers, Gnonto has experience of playing as a no.10 and Solomon’s top-tier quality and creativity could see him play in that role, too.

What Tottenham’s local media are saying about Archie Gray as former Leeds player makes Premier League debut

Archie Gray got his first taste of Premier League action since leaving Leeds United as a second half substitute for Tottenham Hotspur.

Gray enjoyed an impressive pre-season at Spurs following his £40 million switch from Elland Road in early July, but was made to wait for his debut.

Spurs were in action away at Leicester City and despite dominating for much of the opening hour, were forced to settle for a 1-1 draw against one of the sides who pipped Leeds to promotion last season.

Incidentally, Gray’s best footballing memory actually came up against his opponents on Monday night, with his deflected strike in Leeds’ 3-1 comeback win over the Foxes back in February living long in the memory.

The 18-year-old – who spent some of pre-season at centre-back – played in a slightly different role to what he was used to at Leeds, as he was tasked with sitting just in front of the back four.

Tottenham media deliver verdict on Gray debut

Gray’s introduction from the bench came at almost the exact same time as Georginio Rutter’s move to Brighton was finally officially announced, in what was yet another difficult night for Leeds supporters.

Leeds fans certainly found it tough to see Gray in action for another club, and Rutter’s exit simply compounded what has been one of the most miserable summer windows of all time.

MORE LEEDS UNITED STORIES

That said, Gray’s time at Leeds is not very much in the past now and he can be happy with the performance he delivered on his debut.

Though it is a side he came up against twice last season, Gray certainly looked right at home in the Premier League, completing 18 of his 21 attempted passes, and winning two of his four duels.

Football.London were in attendance at the King Power covering the game and delivered a fairly positive verdict of what they saw from Gray, all be it in a limited amount of time.

They wrote: “Archie Gray – Came on and put in an important shift on his Premier League debut. 6.”

How did some of Leeds’ other departees fare this weekend?

Following Leeds’ drab performance at West Brom, those that have departed this summer have been quick to show what they could be missing.

Like Gray, Crysencio Summerville was also a second half substitute on his debut and despite losing, quickly looked at home. He so nearly provided an assist.

The French media, meanwhile, were full of praise for Glen Kamara‘s performance for Rennes in a 3-0 win over Lyon, while Charlie Cresswell was named in Ligue 1’s TOTW.

Connor Roberts has also had a very impressive start to life back at Burnley, as he played the full 90 minutes in a 5-0 win over Cardiff City.

Tottenham owed massive chunk of Jack Clarke fee if Leeds United manage to pull off £20m deal

Leeds United are being strongly linked with a move to bring Jack Clarke back to Elland Road before the August 30 deadline, and Tottenham Hotspur would benefit financially.

Georginio Rutter is expected to join Crysencio Summerville, Archie Gray, Glen Kamara and four others in being sold by Daniel Farke’s side, as The 49ers put finances over performance to balance the Leeds books.

Rutter is set for Brigton in a £40m move, just a couple of weeks after Dutch ace Summerville left to join West Ham. Gray could make his debut for Tottenham tonight when Spurs take on promoted Leicester.

While Leeds have balanced the books and then some with the eight sales raking in around £120m this summer, it has left some seriously big holes in Farke’s side that have been evident in the three games.

Leeds target Clarke but Tottenham could rake in as much as £8m

Leeds are interested in Clarke and could tempt Sunderland into a sale of their 23-year-old gem with a £20m bid. Clarke is in the final two years of his contract on Wearside, after leaving Spurs for Sunderland.

Graeme Bailey told LeedsUnited.News on Monday that Clarke is now expecting to move before the end of the window, but that there are six other clubs rivalling Leeds for the Thorp Arch product’s signature.

Now, TeamTalk claim Tottenham have a clause in the deal for Clarke that sees them receive a massive 40% sell-on clause. If Leeds did splash £20m on the England youth international, Spurs would receive £8m.

MORE LEEDS UNITED STORIES

Clarke is even said to want to join Leeds, hinges on The 49ers

Leeds fans are growing impatient at the lack of incoming signings having waved goodbye to half a squad already. Farke has said he wants four new signings; a full-back, a midfielder and two attacking players.

But right now, it is unclear if any of that happens. If Leeds are to get Clarke, then The 49ers are going to have to do something they are yet to do since taking over and spend £20m or more on one single player.

To replace Summerville, that is the kind of fee it takes to bring in a similar level of quality. Whether Leeds actually do it, and whether they can with the deadline approaching fast, completely remains to be seen.

The real reason Leeds United preferred to sell Archie Gray to Tottenham rather than Brentford

Archie Gray is set to make his competitive debut for Tottenham Hotspur in some capacity on Monday night after leaving Leeds United for Spurs, a move The 49ers preferred to other clubs.

Whether 18-year-old Gray gets a start under Ange Postecoglou remains to be seen when Spurs go up against newly-promoted Leicester remains to be seen, the side Gray’s only senior goal has come against.

Certainly, he has impressed for Tottenham in pre-season. Gray has caught the eye both on and off the pitch at Spurs, even playing at centre-back for Postecoglou against Hearts and on tour in Japan.

The day has arrived for Gray, then. It comes after his £40m move to Spurs and an exit from Leeds that turned into a bit of a saga, as the England U21 star initially travelled to London to go to Brentford.

Why Leeds wanted to sell Gray to Tottenham over Brentford

Even before Brentford, Aston Villa held talks to sign Gray from Leeds. He then went to West London before Gray had a change of heart and chose to join Tottenham, and Leeds were all for his decision.

That is according to The Telegraph, who highlight a number of reasons as to why The 49ers preferred selling Gray to Spurs. The main reason of course, is that it allowed Leeds to do a deal for Joe Rodon.

A more favourable payment structure was put in place with Spurs over Brentford, while the report says that Leeds felt selling Gray to a bigger club in Spurs would appease fans who were angry with Gray’s exit.

How much Leeds have raked in from Gray and seven others

Gray’s £40m move to Tottenham saw Leeds sort their finances out and remove any concern of breaking Profit & Sustainability Rules. Given he is a Thorp Arch academy product, that £40m was pure profit.

A big tick in the eyes of PSR. Following Gray have been sales of Charlie Cresswell, Marc Roca, Diego Llorente and Kris Klaesson which equates to little over £10m in total, before Crysencio Summerville.

The Dutchman went for an initial £25m but a deal could reach £34m with add-ons, while Georginio Rutter is set for a £40m move to Brighton. A total then, at least initially, of almost £120m raked in at Leeds.

Tottenham’s latest transfer move looks like bad news for Leeds United

Leeds United are in desperate need of adding some attacking quality in the next two weeks.

In the space of half a month, Leeds have lost 50 goal contributions out of their side from last season, with both Crysencio Summerville and Georginio Rutter departing Elland Road.

Summerville was the first to make the move to West Ham United for £25 million, with Rutter set to follow him to the Premier League in a £40 million switch to Brighton.

Leeds had already been in the market for a new winger before Rutter’s exit, but Daniel Farke made it clear in his pre-West Brom press conference that another attacker is needed.

Ben Jacobs says Rutter leaving could see Leeds make an official offer for Jonathan Rowe, but Marseille is his preferred destination and other targets need to be looked at.

Tottenham new signing could hinder Leeds hopes of Manuel Benson deal

Providing Wilfried Gnonto stays, you would imagine he has that left-wing spot on lock. He showed last weekend how dangerous he can be in that position.

At least one of Leeds’ new attacking signings simply has to be a left-footed player who likes playing on the right, which is why it appears they have rekindled interest in Burnley’s Manuel Benson.

MORE LEEDS UNITED STORIES

Benson was a player of interest for Leeds in January but he instead opted to stay in Lancashire, a decision which ultimately back-fired given how little he played.

The 27-year-old was again an unused substitute at Luton Town on Monday and so there could be a possibility he wants to quit Turf Moor this month, and Leeds are among the clubs interested.

However, Leeds’ hopes of signing Benson may have just been dealt a blow with Burnley having sold Wilson Odobert to Tottenham Hotspur this morning.

Odobert was one of the wingers in front of Benson in the pecking order but with him gone, Burnley may not want to lose him, particularly given how good he was at this level last time.

Benson scored 11 goals in 33 appearances during Burnley’s last promotion season, and clearly could be a useful asset to replace Odobert, who scored in their 4-1 win at Kenilworth Road.

Leeds not the only Championship club selling

Though clearly this could impact Leeds’ hopes of signing Benson, Farke can take solace in the fact it is not only his side losing key players.

Odobert proved against Luton what a top player he could’ve been at this level, and despite the size of Burnley’s squad, there is no doubt this is a huge blow.

All of Leeds, Burnley and potentially even Sheffield United are at risk of losing players in the next two weeks, but the important thing for all three will be how they are replaced.

That said, it would be difficult to argue against the other two clubs being in a better position than Leeds right now.
