Tottenham will need to fork out €102m to beat London rivals to unreal international

If Tottenham Hotspur truly want to improve as a club they need to start spending big, but in order to land Jamie Gittens from Borussia Dortmund, they’ll have to fork out €102m.

Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal have all been linked with Gittens, though would appear to prefer to bid somewhere in the region of €80m for his services.

Tottenham want Jamie Gittens

According to BILD (subscription required), that’s not even going to touch the sides with the Bundesliga giants, who want €102m in order to let the 20-year-old Englishman move on.

That would represent an incredible rise for the player who has 28 goals and 19 assists in his 113 career appearances to date (transfermarkt).

Gittens, dubbed the next Jude Bellingham, would certainly fit into Ange Postecoglou’s effervescent attacking system and bring that extra bit of quality that the North Londoners have been lacking.

I CRIED in my car the day I left Man Utd!” – which United legend has hit out at the “lies” about his time at Old Trafford?

Whether Daniel Levy is willing to invest such a significant sum on one player is another question entirely.

The overriding issue for Spurs is how tightly the chairman holds onto the purse strings, as it’s abundantly clear Postecoglou is hamstrung to a certain degree because of the lack of financial backing from above.

Jamie Gittens will cost Tottenham €102m

Ultimately, it’s the manager that always seems to carry the can for the lack of progress, however, the job is almost impossible when you’ve theoretically got one hand tied behind your back.

The incredible amount of injuries (Premier Injuries) that Spurs have had to endure over the past few months hasn’t helped, and, once again, the club are petering towards another under-par campaign.

The cacophony of boos from the stands are getting louder, and one has to wonder how bad it’s got to get before Daniel Levy either unburdens his manager with financial freedom or exits stage left.

Ruben Amorim’s Manchester United side suffered another setback, losing 1-0 to Tottenham after a series of defensive lapses – but James Maddison’s goal could have been avoided.

Amorim was visibly frustrated after instructing Diogo Dalot to get tighter to Son Heung-min, only for the defender to remain too narrow less than a minute later, reports the Manchester Evening News. It was the Spurs attacker’s volley the rebound that led to Maddison’s winning goal.

The lack of defensive discipline highlighted United’s ongoing struggles they slumped to another Premier League loss – and Amorim’s eight overall in his last 12 games.

“I CRIED in my car the day I left Man Utd!” – which United legend has hit out at the “lies” about his time at Old Trafford?

Amorim’s frustration extended beyond Dalot, a player who’s been previously linked to a switch to Real Madrid. He was seen remonstrating with his staff about wasted overloads and repositioning players throughout the match.

Man United have now lost 12 Premier League games this season, just two shy of last season’s total of 14. They have also failed to score in 10 matches.

Despite 16 attempts on goal and six saves from Tottenham’s Guglielmo Vicario, the Manchester club couldn’t break through.

Ruben Amorim believes that his job is safe

Amorim asked about his job stability after the loss at Old Trafford.

He replied: “I am not worried. I understand our fans, what the media think about it. I hate to lose, that feeling is the worst. “The rest I am not thinking about. I am here to help my players.

“I understand my situation, my job, I am confident on my work and I just want to win games. The place in the table is my worry, I am not worried about me.”

“It is the hardest competition in the world. I am trying to be careful with them. I felt the team was pushing for the goal and I felt I don’t want to change. But they will play. “You try to read the game, understand what you see in training. The team were pushing for the goal and I didn’t feel the need to change.”

Daniel Levy could step aside from Tottenham role one one condition

Description

Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy has been heavily criticised in recent years for the way he has run the club.

He has been accused of lacking ambition and some of his major decisions have been questioned by the fans and the media as well. According to a recent report from the BBC, the Tottenham chairman is hurt by the protest towards him by the Tottenham fan group.

The report states that Levy is willing to step down from his role if he feels that it will be right for the club. Furthermore, the report states that the Tottenham chairman is hurt by the protests and he is also hurt by the results this season.

Spurs have backed Ange Postecoglou significantly in the transfer market, but the Australian manager has not been able to deliver on the pitch. He has failed to get the best out of his new signings, and Levy has had to bear the brunt of the fans because of that.

Can Spurs turn it around?

It remains to be seen whether Spurs can turn things around in the coming weeks. There is no doubt that they have a talented squad and a quality manager. But things have not gone according to plan for them. They have struggled with persistent injury problems as well, and they need a slice of luck to bounce back strongly.

At the start of the season, they were expected to finish in the Champions League positions and push for a domestic trophy. They crashed out of the League Cup in the semi-final against Liverpool and they are currently 14th in the league table. A top-four finish seems like a distant dream for them now. It remains to be seen whether they can salvage the remainder of the season and finish in a respectable position now.

Liverpool want to sign Micky van de Ven

Liverpool are very interested in signing the Tottenham Hotspur defender Micky van de Ven.

Van de Ven has established himself as one of the best defenders in the league since joining Tottenham and a report from Football Insider claims that Liverpool are ‘very keen’ on him.

The 23-year-old is an indispensable asset for Tottenham, and it would be very surprising if the London club decided to sanction his departure at the end of the season. They have struggled during his absence due to injuries.

It is no surprise that Liverpool are looking to sign the player. They need to replace Virgil van Dijk at the end of the season. The Dutch International will be out of contract in the summer and he is yet to commit his long-term future to Liverpool. The Reds need to start making contingency plans and the Tottenham defender could be a very good alternative. The player has been linked with Real Madrid as well.

Tottenham have had a disappointing season this year, and they need to hold onto their best players if they want to bounce back strongly. They cannot afford to sell the 23-year-old to a direct rival. Although the player could be excited about the possibility of joining one of the biggest clubs in the country, he has a long-term contract with Tottenham and they are under no pressure to sell him.

Van de Ven is highly rated

The defender has attracted a lot of praise for his defensive qualities and he was recently labelled as a “top player” by Jamie Redknapp. His ability to read the game and his lightning recovery speed make him an exceptional option at the back. Liverpool would do well to secure his signature.

Even though Tottenham are unlikely to sanction his departure, it will be interesting to see if Liverpool decide to test their resolve with a lucrative proposal in the summer. They are hoping to win the league title and the Champions League this season and they will hope to attract top players in the summer.

Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton has been linked with a move away from the club in recent months.

The 21-year-old has been a key player for the Eagles ever since he joined the club and Tottenham are keen on securing his signature. According to Football Insider, they are interested in the talented young midfielder, but he is unlikely to be a cheap acquisition.

The player has a long-term contract with Crystal Palace and they are unwilling to let him leave easily. It remains to be seen whether Tottenham can convince them with a lucrative proposal.

The report further states that the midfielder has all the attributes to develop into a “real top-class player” in future. The 21-year-old is already an important player for Palace and he has the quality to succeed at a big club. He will want to compete at the highest level and fight for trophies and Spurs might be able to provide him with that platform in the near future.

Wharton could improve Spurs

They need more defensive steel and work rate in the midfield and Wharton seems like the ideal acquisition on paper. They could nurture the 21-year-old into a future star. He is highly rated across England and he has a bright future. He has been linked with multiple other clubs, and Tottenham should look to act quickly if they want to get the deal done.

They need more quality and depth in the midfield, and the Crystal Palace star could improve them immensely. He is only going to improve with coaching and experience, and he could develop into a superstar for Tottenham.

It will be interesting to see if Tottenham can convince the Eagles to sell the player at the end of the season.

Mathys Tel is already being trolled by his Tottenham team

If Mathys Tel was wondering what life was like at a Premier League club, he’s been quickly targeted in a behind-the-scenes prank at Tottenham.

It’s believed that the 19-year-old had originally turned the North Londoners down in the January window, but in the absence of any other offers, a late move to Spurs soon became a more attractive possibility.

He’s only on loan initially to the end of the season, by which time Ange Postecoglou may no longer be manager of the club.

Mathys Tel makes juvenile error

Marco Silva would even quit Fulham to join the North Londoners.

That could leave Tel in the uneasy position of potentially not being wanted by a new manager, and, if what happened in the January window is replicated, not wanted by anyone else.

Bayern Munich may well have him back without a problem but there’s no guarantee of course.

I CRIED in my car the day I left Man Utd!” – which United legend has hit out at the “lies” about his time at Old Trafford?

In the meantime he needs to get his head down and work hard to ensure that such a conversation isn’t even necessary.

He’s certainly made an impression with his team-mates who are already trolling him.

According to a post he put on Instagram, both James Maddison and Archie Gray had been trolling him by talking loads of behind the scenes photos to fill up his library.

Mathys Tel already accepted by his new team-mates

‘Thank you guys, my stock is full now,’ he wrote with pictures of Maddison and Gray looking like they were enjoying some food from the club canteen at the training ground.

If nothing else, that will serve the player right for making the juvenile error of leaving his property just lying around, but it also shows how well the talented teenager has settled in at his new club.

Tottenham face EPL competition for 24-year-old with 22 G/A this season

After what’s turning out to be a dismal season for Tottenham, landing Feyenoord’s highly-rated Igor Paixao in the summer would be a real coup for Ange Postecoglou and the North Londoners.

As The Sun report, however, they face stiff competition to land the player from Premier League rivals, Newcastle and Bournemouth.

Tottenham want Igor Paixao in the summer

It’s little wonder why Paixao is in demand, given that he scored the Champions League winner in midweek against AC Milan, giving new signing, Kyle Walker, whose no slouch, a torrid time apparently.

With 22 goals or assists to his name this season already, if Tottenham want to secure him, they need to get in quick and try and ensure the 24-year-old is sufficiently impressed to put pen to paper.

If they could also get Cristian Romero to sign his new deal, it would be quite the summer for Ange Postecoglou and Daniel Levy.

With Tottenham Hotspur Stadium being consistently infiltrated in the home end by away fans too, frustration at the club on and off the pitch is at boiling point.

I CRIED in my car the day I left Man Utd!” – which United legend has hit out at the “lies” about his time at Old Trafford?

The bottom line is that the supporters want to see an expansive and attractive football team entertaining them but ultimately winning football matches.

That’s precisely what the long-suffering Spurs fan pays his or her hard-earned for.

Could Igor Paixao be the answer to Spurs’ prayers?

There are more immediate concerns for the squad of course, as they sit in 14th place in the Premier League at present.

Were they to lose against Man United and both West Ham and Everton beat Brentford and Crystal Palace respectively, then Spurs would end the weekend in 16th position.

That’s surely not a situation that most Tottenham fans could abide, and the cat calls for Levy to finally sell up and go would surely reach fever pitch.

"We are aware of frustrations" - Tottenham release strongly worded official statement

Description

It’s been a poor season so far for Tottenham Hotspur, and fan frustration is set to boil over after a recent issue that will certainly concern Daniel Levy.

Spurs were recently blasted for a ‘PR stunt,’ and it’s even been suggested that Ange Postecoglou is on the brink of losing his job after a series of poor results.

Frustrating times for Daniel Levy and Spurs

Being dumped out of both domestic cup competitions within days of each other won’t have done anything for the Australian’s ongoing candidacy, but surely Levy can see no value in dumping yet another manager. Particularly one who has extenuating circumstances.

It’s a fact rather than an excuse that when there are large scale injuries to key players, it’s going to follow that results won’t be as desired.

Premier Injuries report that Spurs currently have 11 players out – Radu Dragusin, Wilson Odobert, Dominic Solanke, Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven, James Maddison, Destiny Udogie, Guglielmo Vicario, Timo Werner, Brennan Johnson and Richarlison – the most in the entire English top-flight.

Not even the best managers in the world could deal with that.

I CRIED in my car the day I left Man Utd!” – which United legend has hit out at the “lies” about his time at Old Trafford?

As if to compound supporter frustration, at home games, the areas that are specifically for Tottenham fans are being routinely invaded by away supporters.

Clearly those who pay their hard earned have had enough, and the club have raised the issue in an official statement on the Tottenham website.

Daniel Levy has problems on and off the pitch at Tottenham

‘We are aware of frustrations regarding away fans sourcing tickets in home areas. This negatively impacts the wider fan experience – preventing genuine home fans from supporting the team in person – and creates challenging situations for our stewards,’ it read.

The statement goes on to suggest various means of reporting any more instances of what’s becoming a real nuisance.

With problems on and off the pitch continuing, is it any wonder that Levy remains public enemy No.1.

Postecoglou on the brink; Tottenham chasing progressive 48-year-old

It’s not been the greatest season for Tottenham Hotspur so far, and though Ange Postecoglou has reasons for his team’s poor form, he’s still on the brink of losing his job according to reports.

The Australian is known for his brand of attacking football that’s pleasing on the eye, and that was certainly in evidence during his first season.

Ange Postecoglou could be sacked by Daniel Levy

Unfortunately, injuries have decimated the Spurs squad in 24/25, and whilst that’s a legitimate excuse as to why the North Londoners have been dumped out of both domestic cups and find themselves in 14th position in the Premier League, the cut throat world of elite football means that his job is on the line.

Jamie O’Hara wants Postecoglou out, with the former Spurs man rounding on the current manager during a recent radio rant.

Sources even recently indicated how many games Postecoglou had left to save himself from the sack.

“It ended BADLY with Wenger” – this nightmare Arsenal legend “had problems with EVERYONE”, his former teammate reveals!

Reports from Italy now suggest that Fabio Paratici is pushing Daniel Levy to go after progressive Italian coach, Simone Inzaghi.

Inter Live note that the board of the Neroazzurri are fast becoming concerned by the team’s lack of spirit in certain games, and this is despite the fact that Inter are just a point behind Napoli at the top of Serie A.

Tottenham already have their Ange Postecoglou replacement

Were the Milanese giants to go on and pip the Partnopei to the Scudetto, it would be difficult for the club to then decide on dispensing with Inzaghi’s services.

Of course, the 48-year-old may instead decide that his purpose has been served at the club, and might look to further his career elsewhere.

Given that his entire playing and managerial career has been spent in Italy, moving to Tottenham would be a huge departure for Inzaghi, but Spurs remain an interesting project for many.

Virgil van Dijk appears no closer to making a decision on his future

Description

Virgil van Dijk is one of three big-name Liverpool players that are out of contract in the summer, and Fabrizio Romano has given an update on the Dutchman’s contract situation.

Given that Liverpool are closely monitoring a Chelsea defensive target, it might be said that the club have already jumped the gun and made their decision on what happens next.

It’s also been reported that Liverpool have “serious interest” in an £80m warhorse who could only be being watched and potentially signed to replace the Dutchman.

What next for Virgil van Dijk?

Everything therefore points to next season being sans van Dijk, and potentially Trent Alexander-Arnold and Mo Salah too.

However, renowned football journalist, Fabrizio Romano, has offered an update which puts a slightly different spin on things.

“It ended BADLY with Wenger” – this nightmare Arsenal legend “had problems with EVERYONE”, his former teammate reveals!

Speaking on his YouTube channel he said: “It is true that the agents of Virgil van Dijk were sitting next to the director of football at Liverpool, Richard Hughes, for the game against Tottenham.

“There is still a very good conversation, a very good relationship between Liverpool and the agents of Virgil van Dijk.

“At the moment, the decision has still not been made. But the conversations continue.”

It isn’t clear in any event if the reason for any potential stalling of contract signing is down to the money involved or if the player is seeking pastures new.

Virgil van Dijk has no reason to leave Liverpool from a playing perspective

If it’s the latter, then questions would surely need to be asked of his motivation should the Reds go on and win the Premier League title and potentially more this season.

Under Arne Slot, Liverpool have been imperious for the most part and certainly the most consistent team in Europe.

Van Dijk, as team captain, has played the fullest part in that, and clearly has more to give at the current level.
