Spurs and Chelsea Hooligans Were Involved in Violent Brawl as 34 Arrested - SPORTbible
Description

Chelsea and Spurs hooligans were previously involved in a horrific day of violence when the sides faced each other back in 2007.

Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur have been rivals for decades, with many pointing to the 1967 FA Cup final between the two London sides as a catalyst for the ill feeling between them.

The game, which Spurs won and was attended by over 100,000 fans, was dubbed the “Cockney Cup Final” and was arguably the start of the infamous rivalry.

Several games between the sides have gone down in folklore, with the so-called “Battle of Stamford Bridge” from 2016 standing out.

On that occasion, 12 yellow cards were issued after Chelsea drew 2-2 with Spurs despite the away side having led 2-0 in the first half, handing Leicester City the Premier League title at Tottenham’s expense.

Following the full-time whistle, a tunnel brawl occurred with both clubs receiving fines from the Football Association (FA) after admitting three breaches of FA Rule E20 for failing to control their players and/or officials.

Spurs midfielder Mousa Dembele was banned for six games for violent conduct during the clash.

But away from the on-pitch troubles, the sides’ FA Cup quarter-final clash from 2007 will live long in the memory for the wrong reasons.

After a 3-3 draw at Stamford Bridge, hooligans clashed in Parsons Green, London, outside the White Horse pub – known locally as the “Sloany Pony”.

At the time, the Mirror reported that more than 30 people were arrested as rival groups armed with knives, wooden clubs, and hockey sticks fought outside the pub.

The outlet claimed that seven people were rushed to hospital after sustaining stab wounds to their head or chest, while the Standard reported that the number of victims was at least 10, with 34 arrests made.

Police were said to have believed the incident was pre-organised after Spurs fans had reportedly ‘ambushed’ Chelsea “in their own backyard”.

One eyewitness told the Standard: "It was pandemonium, I've never seen scenes like it. It was a battlefield in the middle of Fulham's smartest area on a Sunday evening. I was on Parsons Green itself, having a quiet drink with friends - nothing to do with the football.

"Suddenly, there was a lot of loud shouting and screaming, and we saw a huge mob fighting outside the Sloaney Pony, smashing each other with baseball bats and anything they could get their hands on. People were fleeing in all directions; it was chaos.

"I ran off down a street, but could hear the rioting going on from half a mile away. About five minutes later, the police sirens started and carried on all night."

Europa League Winner With Spurs Retires at 27 to Become Photographer - SPORTbible
Description

A former Tottenham Hotspur player who won the UEFA Europa League last season has retired at the age of 27 to pursue a career as a photographer.

Back in May, Spurs became Europa League winners after beating fellow Premier League side Manchester United at the San Mames Stadium in Bilbao, Spain.

A goal from Brennan Johnson in the 42nd minute was enough to seal a 1-0 win for Ange Postecoglou's men.

Despite leading Spurs to European glory, Postecoglou was sacked due to the team's poor showing in the Premier League. Thomas Frank has since replaced the Australian.

Postecoglou wasn't the only one to leave Spurs following their Europa League win.

At the end of May, Spurs announced that goalkeeper Alfie Whiteman would leave following the expiration of his contract.

Whiteman, 27, was given a winner's medal for the Europa League as he was one of the required club-trained players in the Spurs squad.

During his time with the North London club, Whiteman failed to establish himself as a regular, making only one appearance.

After going on trial with two clubs during the summer, Whiteman has decided to make a drastic career change.

He said to The Athletic: "There was a weekend when I went home, and I started contemplating all my options. I had other things I’ve been building on the side and it was more exciting to me. To put it plainly, I saw happiness in these other avenues.

"It got to this point where I’d rather end this on my terms than go to a club that I just didn’t want to go to. When I was younger, I always said I didn’t want to play in the lower leagues; it was always about the highest level. Otherwise, I’d rather do something else."

Since evolving away from football, Whiteman has begun a photography career and was recently seen on a Nike shoot with photographer Harley Weir and British rapper Central Cee.

The 27-year-old said: "I’ve got project ideas for photo stuff and short film ideas. The plan is to do some short films, and then hopefully one day a feature-length. But there are no real strict steps. You can decide.

"I just want to be on set and work with some of the most talented cinematographers, directors of photography, producers and meet new people. There’s just so much to learn."

Spurs Star ‘Gives Green Light’ for Shock January Move as Talks Begin - SPORTbible
Description

One Tottenham Hotspur star has reportedly given the green light for a shock move away during the January transfer window.

It has been a fairly decent start to the 25/26 campaign for Spurs under new boss Thomas Frank.

In the Premier League, they currently sit third in the table, having collected 17 points from nine matches.

However, they are five points adrift of league leaders and bitter rivals Arsenal.

Meanwhile, Spurs have also made a satisfactory start to their UEFA Champions League journey, having won one and drawn two of their opening three matches.

Looking ahead, it has been reported that one current Spurs star could leave the club during the winter transfer window.

As per Sport Witness, journalist Fabricio Lopes has claimed that Brazilian Serie A side Flamengo are interested in signing Richarlison if the player decides to leave European football.

It has been claimed that Richarlison, 28, has already given Flamengo the 'ok'.

Lopes said: "The one Flamengo really want is Richarlison, the former Fluminense man.

"The values are still being discussed and are much higher than what Brazilian clubs usually pay. But Richarlison has already given the ‘ok’ to negotiate with Flamengo if he returns to South America."

However, Flamengo may have to cough up a significant fee as Richarlison is under contract with Spurs until 2027.

According to Transfermarkt, the forward has a market value of around €25 million, which will be among the most expensive signings in the history of Brazilian football.

So far in the 25/26 season, Richarlison has made 14 appearances for Spurs across all competitions, scoring three goals and assisting two.

What has Thomas Frank said about Richarlison?

Back in August, Frank spoke glowingly about Richarlison after Spurs' opening day win against Burnley.

He said: "He was very good against PSG and today he was exceptional, with his work-rate, driving the team, link-up play, hold-up play, just dominating and then the two finishes. So happy on his behalf and again performance department, medical department did a top job to build him.

"I think a few of you know he was not involved in the first friendly because we had to build him. That will be continuous and something we need to look at throughout the season. It is only the second game of the season, there is a long way to go but very positive with him."

Ange Postecoglou Refuses to Take One Job in World Football No Matter What

Ange Postecoglou Refuses to Take One Job in World Football No Matter What - SPORTbible
Description

Ange Postecoglou has already vowed never to take one managerial position in particular, describing the role as his "biggest frustration".

After just 39 days in charge, Postecoglou was sacked by Premier League strugglers Nottingham Forest on Saturday, just 19 minutes after the club suffered a 3-0 defeat to Chelsea.

The 60-year-old, who replaced Nuno Espirito Santo at the City Ground in September, was described by owner Evangelos Marinakis as having the credentials to "compete with the very best and challenge for trophies".

But after Forest failed to win any of their eight games under Postecoglou, he was brutally dismissed, just days after moving into his new flat.

Despite one of the shortest reigns in Premier League history, the Australian is being linked with a return to one of his old stomping grounds, although he has already ruled himself out of taking another familiar role.

Back in 2023, during his spell as Tottenham head coach, Postecoglou was asked if he saw himself managing the Australia national team again. It's fair to say his answer was definite.

“No. I gave up that fight," he said. "It’s a much easier space for me to live in because I was so frustrated for so long. It was my biggest frustration. One of my major drivers for doing what I did was to change football in Australia. And that’s the reason I left. I felt I hadn’t made an impact at all."

Postecoglou resigned from his role as Australia manager in 2017, just six days after the team qualified for the World Cup.

Speaking on his decision to walk away from the job, he said: “I walked away from a World Cup. We qualified and I walked away. The reason I walked away was I just didn’t enjoy what I was doing.

“I think I’ve said all along, it’s not just doing the job and winning games of football. It’s got to be a higher purpose and my higher purpose in Australia was to change the game. I just don’t think that will happen.”

He was offered the chance to discuss a new deal beyond the tournament in Russia, but decided against it.

"This has been a very tough decision for me," he said back in 2017. "All this has taken a toll on me both personally and professionally. I have invested all I can, knowing how important a period it was for Australian football.

"It is with a heavy heart that I must now end the journey. To coach your own country is the greatest privilege but it also has enormous responsibility."

Postecoglou, who won 22 of his 49 matches in charge of Australia, added: "I feel now is the right time to pass on that responsibility to someone who will have the energy it requires. I owe this to the football association, the players and the fans."

Djed Spence Called 'Disrespectful' for Post After First England Start

Djed Spence Called 'Disrespectful' for Post After First England Start - SPORTbible
Description

Djed Spence has been criticised for what he posted on social media following his first England start against Wales.

Spence, who made his England debut against Serbia last month, was handed a spot from the start at full-back in Thomas Tuchel's XI against Wales on Thursday.

The Three Lions recorded a comfortable victory at Wembley Stadium, beating Craig Bellamy's side 3-0 - with Morgan Rogers, Ollie Watkins and Bukayo Saka all getting on the score-sheet.

Wales weren't at the races and couldn't get going on an attacking front, with England's backline keeping the likes of Kieffer Moore, David Brooks and Harry Wilson quiet.

Not to mention Brennan Johnson, who came up against Tottenham teammate Spence.

But Johnson failed to get the better of the 25-year-old, who won their on-field battle.

And Spence made sure his club colleague knew about his victory in their duel, bragging about it on social media with a ruthless dig.

He shared a meme of himself making Johnson his 'dog', accompanied with the caption: "Very Happy to get my first England star with a Great Win.

"But forget about all the emotional stuff for a second .. YOU CANNOT ESCAPE THE... LETS TAKE A WALK TO THE PENITENTIARY BROTHER."

Spence's post, however, didn't go down well among some Spurs fans online as they called out his 'disrespectful' post.

One X user wrote: "No doubt the Johnson haters will think it’s hilarious but frankly it just seems like a great way to create disharmony in the squad. Disrespectful as being late to training which Bissouma got benched for."

A second said: "Disrespectful to his teammate. Not cool," while a third added: "If BJ finds it funny, ok. If not then really out of order."

A fourth argued: "How are people getting annoyed over this??"

The defender appears to have posted it in jest, but not everyone sees the funny side to the meme.

Spence and Johnson will return to being Spurs teammates once this month's international break is over, with Spurs hosting Aston Villa on October 19.

Spurs Receive Huge Cash Injection That Could Help Them Re-Sign Harry Kane

Spurs Receive Huge Cash Injection That Could Help Them Re-Sign Harry Kane - SPORTbible
Description

Tottenham Hotspur have received a huge cash injection, which in theory could help them re-sign Bayern Munich and England striker Harry Kane.

Kane’s future has been the subject of interest of late, with some reports suggesting he could be set to return to the Premier League.

The England captain, 32, is currently in fine form, having produced 18 goals and three assists in just ten games for Bayern Munich so far this term.

The forward recently became the fastest player to reach 100 goals for a club in Europe’s top five leagues – in 104 games – beating the previous record – 105 matches – held by Cristiano Ronaldo and Erling Haaland.

Since arriving in Bavaria following an initial £86.4million plus add-ons move from Spurs in 2023, the 32-year-old has broken his career-long trophy drought by winning the 2024/25 Bundesliga and 2024/25 Franz Beckenbauer Super Cup.

This term, he will, no doubt, be aiming to secure European silverware - with Bayern currently one of the favourites to win the Champions League – before competing for the 2026 World Cup with England in North America.

But where will Kane be playing his club football during the 2026/27 campaign?

Well, Spurs fans will be hoping the answer to that question is Tottenham. The North London side have encountered a period of change in recent months, appointing head coach Thomas Frank as well as seeing long-time chairman Daniel Levy depart after nearly 25 years in the role.

On Thursday (October 9), the club published a statement on its official website announcing that the majority shareholder, the Lewis family trust, has injected £100m of new capital into the club through ENIC Sports & Development Holdings Ltd (“ENIC”).

The motivation behind the investment is to “strengthen the Club’s financial position and equip the Club’s leadership team with additional resources”.

So, in theory, the funds could be used to attract stars such as Kane if the Premier League club pursue his talents.

Harry Kane on Premier League return

Earlier this month, Kane gave an open and honest interview to BBC Sport, during which he claimed he could “definitely” see himself extending his stay at Bayern and is “willing” to have conversations with the club.

On a potential return to the Premier League, Kane said: "In terms of the Premier League, I don't know. If you had asked me when I first left to go to Bayern, I would have said for sure I would come back.

"Now, I have been there a couple of years, I would probably say that has gone down a little bit, but I wouldn't say I would never go back.

"What I have learned in my career is that different opportunities and different timings happen, and things fall in place. Going back to my first point with Bayern right now, I am fully all in with Bayern."

Description

Harry Kane has made his feelings clear on a return to the Premier League amid reports linking him to Manchester United.

Having scored over 200 goals in the Premier League for Tottenham Hotspur, Kane left North London for Bayern back in the summer of 2023.

At the time, the England captain made a move to Bavaria in a deal worth a reported fee of €100 million plus €10 million bonuses.

Since then, Kane has scored 103 goals in 106 appearances across all competitions.

So far in the 25/26 season, the 32-year-old has already netted 18 times in just 10 matches.

Over the years, Kane has often been linked with a move to United. Former Red Devils boss Erik ten Hag reportedly wanted to bring the striker to the club before his switch to Bayern more than two years ago.

Recently, it was reported that Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal are interested in signing Kane.

After reporting for international duty with England this week, Kane was asked about his future and spoke about a potential return to the Premier League.

The Englishman's return to the Premier League has often been mooted due to him needing just 48 goals to become the competition's record goalscorer.

Harry Kane breaks silence on Premier League return

Kane said: "In terms of staying longer (At Bayern), I could definitely see that. I spoke openly a couple of weeks ago that I have not had those conversations with Bayern yet, but if they were to arise I would be willing to talk and have an honest conversation.

"Obviously it depends on how the next year or so goes and what we achieve together. Right now, I would say we are in a fantastic moment and I am not thinking about anything else."

Kane added: "In terms of the Premier League, I don't know. If you had asked me when I first left to go to Bayern, I would have said for sure I would come back.

"Now I have been there a couple of years I would probably say that has gone down a little bit, but I wouldn't say I would never go back. Harry Kane Made 'Unbelievable' Offer to Leave Bayern Munich in Shock Transfer

Harry Kane Made 'Unbelievable' Offer to Leave Bayern Munich in Shock Transfer - SPORTbible
Description

Harry Kane could be about to be made an astronomical offer to leave Bayern Munich and move to a new league.

The England captain, 32, has been with the Bundesliga giants since the summer of 2023 after moving to the Allianz Arena for a reported €110m (£95.7m) from Tottenham Hotspur.

Kane is Tottenham's all-time leading goalscorer after netting 280 goals in 435 matches across all competitions.

He moved to Bayern after his Tottenham contract had around a year left to run on it.

Since moving to Germany, Kane has scored a remarkable 103 goals in just 106 games for Bayern, winning the Bundesliga title with the Bavarian club last season.

Kane has also become England's record goalscorer with 74 goals across 109 caps for the Three Lions and will be seeking to lead his country to World Cup glory next summer when the tournament is held across the USA, Canada and Mexico.

Kane put pen to paper on a four-year contract when he joined Bayern back in 2023, meaning it is currently due to expire in the summer of 2027.

Throughout Kane's time at Spurs he was often linked with a move to Manchester United, with former Old Trafford boss Erik ten Hag wanting to bring the striker to the club before his switch to Bayern more than two years ago.

Since then United have signed Rasmus Hojlund - who in turn has headed on loan to Napoli in Serie A - and more recently Benjamin Sesko this summer, who has scored in back-to-back games since his arrival from RB Leipzig with goals against Brentford and Sunderland.

However, it seems Kane's future might not be back in England, but instead in Saudi Arabia.

According to a report from German publication Bild, Al Hilal are said to have offered Kane a remarkable £261m package on a three-year deal with the Saudi Pro League outfit.

Journalist Christian Falk reports that the England and Bayern talisman 'was and is' on Al Hilal's radar as they work up their proposal for Kane's services.

Speaking on his True or Not True podcast, Falk said: "They've been after him for a while. They wanted him when Bayern were involved.

"They actually wanted to hijack the deal back then, but Bayern had already agreed on it. They must have put an unbelievable offer on the table.

"I heard Al Hilal wanted to pay Harry Kane 100 million a year if he played there.

"For a three-year contract – not bad."

If he were to move to Al Hilal, Kane would link up with former Premier League stars Darwin Nunez, Ruben Neves and Kalidou Koulibaly.

However, it would be a major shock if the England striker was to leave Bayern for Saudi Arabia, given his sensational form since moving to Germany.

Lord Sugar Responds After Jamie Redknapp Issues Apology During Sky Coverage

Lord Sugar Responds After Jamie Redknapp Issues Apology During Sky Coverage - SPORTbible
Description

Lord Alan Sugar has responded after ex-Tottenham captain Jamie Redknapp issued a formal apology to him while live on Sky Sports.

Redknapp claimed in September, during a segment on the departure of Daniel Levy, that Sugar had left Spurs 'in a mess' when he sold his majority stake in the club to ENIC in 2001.

Sugar spent 10 years as chairman of the club after teaming up with Terry Venables to buy it in 1991, and sold his remaining shares to ENIC in 2007.

After Redknapp's claims, Sugar threatened legal action against the 52-year-old, who joined Spurs a year after The Apprentice host stepped down as chairman.

And on Friday, during coverage of Bournemouth's Premier League fixture against Fulham on Friday, Sky Sports paused their coverage to allow Redknapp to issue an apology.

He said: "I said at the time that Lord Sugar left the club 'in a mess'.

"I just want to make clear that he stabilised the club and invested heavily during his time as chairman.

"When he took over in 1991, Spurs were close to bankruptcy, and by the time he stepped away the financial position had been turned around.

"I apologise to Lord Sugar and his family for any misunderstanding and for any distress caused, and am happy to set the record straight."

Sky Sports declined to comment further when approached by SPORTbible.

Shortly after Redknapp's apology, Sugar acknowledged his on-air comments and added that, 'as way of a further apology', £10,000 had been donated to the Great Ormond Street Hospital children's charity in London.

He has since posted a series of tweets - most of which are in response to Spurs fans.

Sugar claimed that Sky and Redknapp 'will pay their [legal] bill', and when one fan claimed he had left the club 'in a mess', he responded: "You are a idiot. Brainless!"

When asked whether he would accept Redknapp's apology, the 78-year-old simply replied: "Yes."

Sugar was born in east London and initially made his fortune from founding and running consumer electronics company Amstrad - which used the initials of his full name Alan Michael Sugar.

After his Spurs takeover, the club won one trophy - the 1999 League Cup - during his time in charge.

Description

Jamie Redknapp issued a formal apology live on-air during Sky Sports' coverage of the Premier League fixture between Bournemouth and Fulham.

Bournemouth came back from 1-0 down in the second half to win 3-1 at Dean Court.

Two goals from Antoine Semenyo and a Justin Kluivert strike moved Andoni Iraola's side to second place in the Premier League, only behind Liverpool.

Redknapp was on punditry duty for the fixture alongside former Fulham midfielder Steve Sidwell.

During the coverage, the ex-Tottenham captain issued a formal apology to former Spurs chairman Alan Sugar.

Last month, in a segment covering the exit of Daniel Levy from Spurs, Redknapp claimed that Sugar had left the north London club 'in a mess' when he sold his majority stake in the club to ENIC in 2001.

The long-time Apprentice host initially purchased his stake in Spurs in 1991, alongside Terry Venables, and spent 10 years as chairman.

He then sold his remaining 12 per cent share to ENIC in 2007, formally cutting ties with the club.

After Redknapp's claim, Sugar took to Twitter to state that the ex-Spurs midfielder and Sky Sports would be 'hearing from my lawyers'.

In a subsequent tweet, he added: "I am coming for you @MrJamieRedknapp idiot."

Sky briefly cut away from their coverage of Bournemouth versus Fulham to broadcast Redknapp's apology, with the 52-year-old stating: "I said at the time that Lord Sugar left the club 'in a mess'.

Sugar posted on social media that, 'by way of a further apology', a sum of £10,000 has been donated to the Great Ormond Street Hospital charity in London.

SPORTbible have contacted Sky Sports for comment.
