Thomas Frank has been installed as the heavy favourite for a huge role after being sacked by Spurs.

Spurs parted company with the Dane on Wednesday after a 2-1 home defeat to Newcastle left them in 16th place in the Premier League.

The north London club have won just two of their last seven matches, and zero Premier League games in the current calendar year.

He isn't the only managerial casualty in the Premier League this week, with Sean Dyche having been sacked by Nottingham Forest in the early hours of Thursday.

But rather than being tipped to seal an almost immediate return to football via the City Ground, Frank is instead favourite to take another English role.

As per BetVictor, Frank is the leading candidate, at odds of 2/1, to take over at Crystal Palace.

His nearest rival, according to the same bookmaker, is Spanish coach Jose Bordalas at 8/1, though other bookmakers have installed Bordalas as their favourite.

Oliver Glasner has already announced that he will leave his managerial role at Selhurst Park this summer upon the expiry of his contract.

But the Austrian has overseen a difficult run of form since his announcement.

Palace lost 3-2 at home to strugglers Burnley - who hadn't won in 16 matches - on Wednesday, despite taking a 2-0 lead in the first half.

They are also out of the FA Cup after being stunned by National League North side Macclesfield in round three.

Palace are eight points clear of the drop zone, however, and are also still in the Europa Conference League.

The Eagles take on Bosnia and Herzegovina Premier League side HSK Zrinjski in the play-off round.

Glasner was left furious with his side's display in the Burnley defeat, after new £48 million signing Jorgen Strand Larsen had scored a brace to put them ahead.

He told TNT Sports: "Honestly, I can't explain it. We gave the game away way too easily. Maybe it was too easy.

"With our lack of intensity, we did not defend well. Once we don't defend well, once we make a mistake, one is a set play.

"We can't show a consistent performance over 95 minutes very often. That is a little bit the problem. Once it is this, once it is that. You get punished."

Description

An experienced manager has put his trusty hat in the ring for the vacant Tottenham Hotspur job, just hours after Thomas Frank was sacked by the Premier League club.

Frank was relieved of his duties on Wednesday morning following the club's 2-1 home defeat against Newcastle United, a result that took their run without a Premier League win to eight matches.

In fact, the 52-year-old, who only joined Tottenham in July last year, was on a run of only two wins in 17 league matches when Spurs announced their decision to part ways.

The club said they had been "determined" to give Frank the time and support needed to build for the future but results and performances led them to make a change deemed "necessary".

Mauricio Pochettino, who has previously said he "would like one day to come back" to Tottenham, is one of the bookies' favourites to get the job.

Former Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi is likely to be in contention following his recent departure from Marseille, while Oliver Glasner will inevitably be linked as he prepares to leave Crystal Palace.

Harry Redknapp is currently one of the outsiders at 50/1, although the 78-year-old has made a public come-and-get-me plea to his former club

"Would I fancy it? Of course I would," he told Sky Sports. "I'd do it without any shadow of a doubt. But, I'm a realist. I don't live in cuckoo land. It's very doubtful I would get the job.

"Could I do the job? Yes, I could do the job. What they need now is someone to come in and get back to basics. Hard work when you lose the ball. Don't be embarrassed when you lose the ball to run hard to get it back. Work together, bit of confidence. Make them believe in themselves."

"If someone can do that they will get the results they need," added Redknapp. "They've got my number. If anyone wants to ring me they know where I am. I wouldn't be holding my breath sitting by the phone waiting for it to ring, that's for sure.”

Redknapp managed Spurs between 2008 and 2012 and left the club with an impressive record of 71 wins from 144 Premier League games.

He secured two 'top four' finishes in that time, and even led the North London club to the quarter-final stages of the 2010-11 Champions League, a campaign best known for the brilliance of Gareth Bale and Luka Modric.

Is he the right man for the job, even if it is on an interim basis? Let us know in the comments.

Description

The Tottenham squad were 'sick' of Thomas Frank taking about one topic during his spell in charge of the club.

Frank was relieved of his duties on Wednesday in the wake of Spurs' crushing 2-1 home defeat to Newcastle United on Tuesday.

He lasted just eight months in charge and leaves Spurs 16th in the Premier League table, five points above the relegation zone.

They are winless in their past eight league games, which incidentally is the club's longest run without a victory since October 2008.

According to the bookies, a favourite has emerged to replace Frank at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The Dane leaves Spurs following a dire run of form, with the club saying they had been 'determined to give Frank the time and support needed to build for the future together', but performances and recent results 'meant a change at this point is necessary'.

A statement read: "Throughout his time at the club, Thomas has conducted himself with unwavering commitment, giving everything in his efforts to move the club forward.

"We would like to thank him for his contribution and wish him every success in the future."

The writing was on the wall, with one source revealing how the squad wanted Frank to 'shut up' about Arsenal.

The source claims the 52-year-old always spoke about the Gunners, leaving the squad 'sick' of it

"He was constantly going on to the players about Arsenal and they quickly got sick of it. Even before and after the game at the Emirates, he was telling them how good Arsenal were. The feeling among some was very much 'just shut up about Arsenal'," the source told Telegraph Sport.

As it happens, Spurs resume their faltering league campaign at home to cross-city rivals Arsenal on February 22.

Frank was convinced he was going to be in charge of the North London derby.

Speaking after Spurs' defeat to Newcastle, he said: "Yeah, I am convinced I will be.

"I understand the question. It is easy to point on me but it is never only the head coach, ownership, players or staff. It is everyone.

"Everyone knows what position we are in and what we need to improve on. That is what we are working hard on."

Spurs are expected to appoint an interim manager before hiring a permanent successor to Frank in the summer.

Spurs 'Make Decision' on New Manager After Thomas Frank Sacking

Description

Spurs have reportedly made a decision over their next manager after sacking Thomas Frank on Wednesday morning.

The north London club parted company with Frank after their 2-1 defeat to Newcastle on Tuesday, which left them in 16th place in the Premier League table.

Spurs have won just two of their last 17 matches, and sit only five points above the Premier League relegation zone with 12 games to play.

The Europa League holders now have a difficult decision to make over their next manager, given that there are only three months left of the season and relatively few top-level bosses available.

According to Sky Sports' Lyall Thomas, Spurs appointing an interim manager until the end of the season is their 'likely route', with the situation then to be assessed in the summer.

Former Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino is second-favourite with the bookmakers to make what would be a return to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, but he first has to navigate the 2026 World Cup in charge of co-hosts United States.

Other options for the permanent role could include Roberto De Zerbi, who is the favourite to take over after leaving Marseille on Wednesday, and Bournemouth's Andoni Iraola.

Who will be Spurs' next manager?

If Spurs do decide to go down the interim route, they could copy Manchester United's appointment of Michael Carrick in placing a former player - or manager - in charge.

Ryan Mason was a first-team coach under Jose Mourinho, Antonio Conte and Ange Postecoglou and is currently out of work - albeit after being sacked by Championship side West Brom.

Robbie Keane is currently in charge of Hungarian giants Ferencvaros, while Harry Redknapp, 78, is perhaps more of a wildcard option.

Last month, Spurs appointed former Liverpool coach Johnny Heitinga as Thomas Frank's assistant.

Heitinga spent the first part of the season in charge of Eredivisie side Ajax, though was sacked in November after winning just five of his 15 matches in charge.

At the time of Heitinga's arrival, Frank told Spurs' official website: "John is a great addition to our coaching staff. His ability, personality and character will add huge value both on and off the pitch.

"He had an impressive playing career across Europe - including five years in the Premier League - and with the Dutch national team.

"As a former defender, that will be one of his main responsibilities on the training pitch, and he brings great coaching and management experiences from all levels of the game, which will really help us moving forward."

Thomas Frank has been sacked by Spurs after a dire run of form left the club in 16th place.

Frank has struggled ever since taking the job with the Europa League winners and following a 2-1 defeat to Newcastle on Tuesday, the club have finally moved to give him the boot.

The result left Spurs 16th in the Premier League, just five points above the relegation zone.

David Ornstein of The Athletic reported on Wednesday morning that Spurs had decided to relieve Frank following a dismal run of eight league games without win.

The decision, which has not yet been announced by Spurs, comes after Frank said he was confident he would be in charge for the club's next Premier League game against Arsenal on February 22.

"Yeah, I am convinced I will be," Frank told Sky Sports.

"I understand the question. It is easy to point on me but it is never only the head coach, ownership, players or staff. It is everyone.

"Everyone knows what position we are in and what we need to improve on. That is what we are working hard on."

With the bookmakers, former manager Mauricio Pochettino is the clear favourite to be Spurs' next manager. Roberto De Zerbi is second in the race having left Marseille via mutual consent.

Thomas Frank Gives Immediate Update on His Future After Newcastle Defeat - SPORTbible
Description

Under-fire Tottenham Hotspur boss Thomas Frank has delivered an update on his future after his side's defeat against Newcastle United.

Frank, 52, was appointed Spurs boss last summer after an impressive spell in charge of Brentford, replacing Ange Postecoglou.

However, it has been a tough season so far for Frank as his men are being dragged into a potential relegation battle.

On Tuesday night, Spurs were poor once again as Newcastle came away 2-1 winners thanks to goals from Malick Thiaw and Jacob Ramsey. Archie Gray was the scorer for the hosts, who were booed off the pitch after the full time whistle.

As a result, Spurs dropped to 16th place in the Premier League table and are only five points ahead of 18th-placed West Ham United, who drew 1-1 with Manchester United at the London Stadium.

Speaking after the match, Frank was quizzed on his future by the media.

In response, the Dane revealed that he held talks with the Spurs board on Monday, and when asked if he fears for his job, Frank said to TNT Sports: "No. I spoke to them yesterday, so no.

"We understand we are not in a top position and we need to do everything we can to work very hard to get out of."

He added: "I understand the frustration and the easiest thing is to point at me. That’s fair and part of the job, unfortunately.

"I will work day and night to do everything to turn it around but it’s fair to say it’s never only one person. I think it’s fair to say we’ve been in this situation last year. It’s something we need to get through and improve and I’m not in doubt that I’m part of that."

Man Utd Fan Not Getting a Haircut Accused of 'Tempting Fate' After Spurs Win

Man Utd Fan Not Getting a Haircut Accused of 'Tempting Fate' After Spurs Win - SPORTbible
Description

Viral Manchester United fan Frank Ilet has reacted to his club's fourth consecutive win, as his haircut is now closer than ever.

On Saturday afternoon, United interim manager Michael Carrick picked up yet another win in charge of his former club, beating Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 at Old Trafford.

After a reckless challenge from Cristian Romero saw the Spurs captain sent off in the first half, United dominated much of the game, with goals from Bryan Mbeumo and captain Bruno Fernandes securing the win.

The result further boosts United's chances of securing a spot in the Champions League next season, and amazingly leaves them just nine points behind league leaders Arsenal.

However, there is one fan who will no doubt be happier than anybody else, as viral supporter Ilet needs just one more win to finally get a haircut.

Back in October 2024, Ilet went viral as he released a video vowing nut to cut his hair until his beloved Manchester United won five games in a row.

Now, 490 days later, Ilet's hair has outlasted two United managers and seen the club through various spells of great success and dismal failures.

But now, United's win over Spurs leaved Ilet closer than he has ever been to finally getting a haircut, as Carrick has led the club to four wins in a row.

And it's safe to say that Ilet is excited about the possibility, as he took to social media to share his reaction to the win.

Posting on his Instagram story, he kept it simple, writing: "This is it!"

However, that's not all he posted, as he then shared a lengthy video joking about losing the match, and it's not gone down particularly well with some United fans.

United face West Ham United in an away trip to the London Stadium on Tuesday night in what will be the deciding match for Ilet and the future of his hair.

In the video, Ilet pretends to be speaking to his therapist on day 1000 of the challenge, discussing losing the match with West Ham United 3-1, concerning some fans that he may be speaking it into existence.

Reacting to the post, one fan wrote: "Bro what are you wishing for! We're almost there 4/5."

Another added: "Brother, just one more win needed. Don't tempt fate!"

Man Utd Announce Departure of Player Hours After Winter Transfer Window Closes

Man Utd Announce Departure of Player Hours After Winter Transfer Window Closes - SPORTbible
Description

Manchester United have confirmed that another player has left the club following the closure of the winter transfer window.

Four weeks of transfer rumours all came to an end on Monday evening as the winter 2026 window came to a close.

Despite the fact that the window was relatively quiet for most clubs, there were some Premier League sides that kept busy throughout January, with the likes of Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur and Crystal Palace securing deals.

Meanwhile Manchester United were among the clubs that decided not to sign a single player in the winter transfer window, as the club adjusts to life after sacking former manager Ruben Amorim.

However, that didn't stop the club from allowing some players to depart, as they've confirmed that another player has left United after the transfer window closed.

The winter transfer window officially shut at 19:00 GMT on Monday, and yet, 14 hours later United released a statement announcing that Sekou Kone had left the club on loan for the rest of the season.

Subject to international clearance, the young midfielder will join Swiss Super League side Lausanne-Sport with the plan for him to get regular first-team minutes.

Lausanne are currently in seventh in the 12-team table, after playing 22 games, with United hoping that Kone can help them escape the bottom five teams that will have to compete in a relegation round.

The 20-year-old could also feature in the Swiss side's UEFA Conference League play-off match against SK Sigma Olomouc.

"We will be tracking Sekou's progress closely and wish him the very best of luck," United wrote in the statement.

The highly rated Mali youth international is yet to make his senior debut for United, but was on the bench for three Premier League games last season.

Many expected that Kone could make some further progress this season, but a fractured eye socket sustained during a National League Cup tie at Tamworth in August ruled him out for the start of the season.

The midfield talent returned to fitness in December, and played in two U21 matches, but since the middle of January has been training with his new team, who are also part of the same Ineos multi-club ownership group as United.

Cristian Romero Posts Damning Statement Minutes After Transfer Window Closes

Cristian Romero Posts Damning Statement Minutes After Transfer Window Closes - SPORTbible
Description

Cristian Romero has spoken out following Tottenham Hotspur's lack of action during the final day of the transfer window.

After four weeks of moves, the transfer window officially shut once again on Monday evening, meaning clubs will now have to wait until June 15 to complete any further deals.

Several Premier League clubs remained busy throughout January, with Manchester City perhaps the biggest winners after they completed deals for both Antoine Semenyo and Marc Guehi.

However, not every club's fans are happy with their side's business in the transfer window, with many Tottenham Hotspur fans feeling that the club didn't do enough given their current position of 14th in the Premier League.

And it appears that club captain Romero shares this view as he took to social media to hit out at the club in a damning statement posted shortly after the window had closed.

Less than 24 hours before the transfer window closed, Spurs secured an impressive draw during their match with Manchester City as they dealt with injuries to nine senior players.

Spurs' crisis appeared to get worse during the match as Romero was withdrawn at half time, with Frank later confirming that the Argentine was ill.

But instead of an entirely positive post celebrating the result, the Spurs captain decided to speak out about Spurs' lack of business in the transfer window, despite the fact that they are dealing with so many injuries.

Posting on Instagram, Romero wrote: "Great effort from all my teammates yesterday ,they were incredible.

"I wanted to be available to help them even though I wasn’t feeling well, especially since we only had 11 players available — unbelievable but true and disgraceful.

"We’ll keep showing up and taking responsibility to turn this around, working hard and staying together.

"All that’s left is to thank all of you for being there and for always supporting us, the fans."

Romero's decision to make the statement shortly after the transfer window closed with Spurs failing to make any signings on deadline day, further shows his frustration with the club.

Across the entire transfer window, Spurs made just two signings, bringing in former Chelsea star Conor Gallagher for a fee of £34million and 19-year-old defender Souza from Santos in a £13m deal.

Earlier in the windows Spurs sold Wales international Brennan Johnson to Crystal Palace have signed winger Brennan Johnson for £35m having bought him for £47.5m in 2023.

Meanwhile the likes of James Maddison, Dejan Kulusevski, Micky van de Ven, Mohammed Kudus, Richarlison and several others remain sidelines for the London club.

Rodri Loses His Head in Heated Post-Match Interview After Man City's Shock Draw

Rodri Loses His Head in Heated Post-Match Interview After Man City's Shock Draw - SPORTbible
Description

Rodri couldn't hold back his emotions as he criticised the referee during Manchester City's 2-2 draw with Tottenham Hotspur.

In the final match on Sunday evening, Manchester City travelled to London to face a weakened Spurs side dealing with an injury crisis that forced nine senior players to miss the match.

Because of this, City headed into the match as heavy favourites, despite the fact that Spurs have been somewhat of a bogey team for Pep Guardiola's side in recent years.

Initially, it looked like the visitors were on their way to a comfortable win, with goals from Rayan Cherki and Antoine Semenyo putting them ahead before half-time.

But, Spurs weren't done yet as they battled back to a 2-2 draw, and City captain Rodri is not happy about it.

It didn't take long for Spurs to put themselves back into the match in the second half as striker Dominic Solanke forced an error from defenders Abdukodir Khusanov and Marc Guehi, leading to the latter scoring an own goal.

However, speaking post-match, Rodri argued that referee Robert Jones shouldn't have allowed the goal to stand, claiming that Solanke had fouled Guehi by kicking him in the back of the leg, pushing the ball into the net.

"We are frustrated because it's so clear the foul, he kicked the leg," Rodri said.

"We have to pay attention to these little things, otherwise it's going to be difficult for everyone because this league is about small details."

With Arsenal securing a win over Leeds United on Saturday, their lead atop the Premier League has now been extended to six points, putting a dent in City's hopes of reclaiming the title.

But when asked if he felt that the result was damaging to City's hopes in the title race, Rodri claimed that it wouldn't have a major impact.

"It's not damaging. We expect to win here, but we're still going to put our arms down and keep fighting until the end because that is our identity," he claimed.

"But we need to be fair in these situations, it's not just one because everyone can make a mistake, but two, three, four in a row, it's not possible.

"I'm not saying the level of refereeing here is bad, it's great, but we have to pay attention because we work so hard and these little actions make a difference, they cannot make a difference, but today unfortunately it did."

City host Newcastle United for the second leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final on Wednesday before a trip to Anfield to face Liverpool on Sunday afternoon.
