How Tottenham could earn £150m from player sales this summer - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur are set for a crucial summer transfer window, and while new signings will be a major talking point, the club could also rake in a hefty sum from outgoing players. Spurs could pocket up to £150m from the sale of seven players.

Tottenham fans can expect plenty of movement at Hotspur Way this summer. There will be arrivals, with Kevin Danso set to join permanently due to an obligation to buy, while Mathys Tel could also make the switch if Spurs trigger their option to buy.

The Lilywhites have also been linked with several players, including Southampton youngster Tyler Dibling, while reports suggest Tottenham are keen on securing a marquee midfield signing.

However, departures will also be a key theme in this window, we believe that as many as ten Spurs players are potentially heading for the exit this summer. Here, we break down how much Tottenham could make from their sales.

Tottenham’s potential departures and valuation

Cristian Romero could command a hefty fee

Cristian Romero is likely to be Tottenham’s most high-profile departure this summer, with the Argentine defender reportedly seeking Champions League football.

Atletico Madrid have already made contact with Romero’s representatives, while Spurs have given Romero an ultimatum: sign a new contract or leave.

Despite reports claiming Romero’s valuation has dropped to £33m, Daniel Levy is unlikely to settle for anything less than top dollar. If a sale happens, we expect Tottenham to demand around £60m for Romero.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Expected departure price: £60m

Richarlison could be on the move

Richarlison remains a quality forward, but his persistent injury problems have frustrated Spurs fans. The Brazilian has missed 37 games this season alone, the worst injury record of his Tottenham career.

Naturally, speculation about his future has intensified, with Everton reportedly considering a reunion with Richarlison.

If he returns to Merseyside, Spurs might receive around £30m, but if a Saudi Arabian club comes calling, that figure could rise to £45m-£60m.

Expected departure price: £30m

Bryan Gil attracting interest from Girona

Bryan Gil, currently on loan at Girona, has impressed his new club’s hierarchy, who are keen to make his move permanent. The loan deal includes a £12.5m buy clause, which Spurs will likely take advantage of to cash in on the Spanish winger. But given his recent long-term injury, Tottenham’s asking price for Bryan Gil could reduce.

Expected departure price: £10m

Manor Solomon catching Leeds’ eye

Manor Solomon has had a solid loan spell at Leeds United in the Championship, earning praise from both fans and manager Daniel Farke.

With Leeds potentially returning to the Premier League, there is a strong chance Leeds will look to secure Solomon permanently from Spurs. Tottenham could fetch between £15m and £20m for his sale.

Expected departure price: £15m

Yves Bissouma facing the exit door

After an underwhelming season, Yves Bissouma’s future at Tottenham is in doubt. Spurs recently held crunch talks with the Bissouma, and reports now suggest Tottenham are now open to selling Bissouma. Having signed him for £30m, the club will be looking to recoup at least half that amount.

Expected departure price: £15m

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s move to Marseille

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is currently on loan at Marseille and has put in some strong performances. A comparison of Hojberg’s stats with Bissouma’s suggests Spurs may have offloaded the wrong midfielder.

However, Marseille have an obligation to buy, meaning Tottenham will kick off their summer transfer business with a guaranteed £17m in the bank.

Expected departure price: £17m

Alejo Veliz set for a permanent exit

It simply hasn’t worked out for Alejo Veliz at Spurs. The young forward is on loan at Espanyol, and with Tottenham willing to part ways, a £5m sale plus a sell-on clause could be smart business.

Description

Tottenham Hotspur are now reportedly preparing for Heung-min Son’s potential departure this summer and the North London club have allegedly identified one Premier League forward as the ‘ideal’ option to replace him.

As the Spurs captain nears the final year of his contract, there is understandably a lot of uncertainty over his future at the club.

Various outlets over recent months have suggested that Tottenham could cash in on Son this summer, especially after the forward has failed to live up to his own high standards this season.

It has been revealed by some sources over recent weeks that Spurs have earmarked a Bournemouth attacker as their top summer target, and a big claim has now been made about Tottenham’s interest in the player.

Tottenham want Antoine Semenyo to replace Heung-min Son

Fichajes have now become the latest outlet to back Tottenham’s interest in Antoine Semenyo, explaining that the Lilywhites have identified the Cherries winger as someone who can fill Son’s shoes this summer should the South Korean depart.

It is revealed that the Ghana international’s name is very high on Tottenham’s list of potential attacking reinforcements, with his versatility making him an ‘ideal’ fit for Postecoglou’s side.

Additionally, Tottenham’s decision-makers are convinced that the Bournemouth man still has enormous potential to grow over the coming years and see him as a good ‘long-term bet’ to take Son’s place in the squad.

Finally, the outlet also adds that Semenyo would be a more ‘economically viable’ option compared to the other attackers on the market.

How much would Antonie Semenyo cost?

While the report from Fichajes does not say how much Spurs would have to pay for the Cherries winger, we did get an update on the winger’s value just a few days ago.

It was claimed by Inews recently that Tottenham would have to pay £70m to prise Semenyo away from Bournemouth, which means that the North Londoners would have to break their transfer record on the 25-year-old.

Tottenham fans react as Daniel Levy makes damning statement on spending - Spurs Web
Description

Tottenham Hotspur have released their latest financial records, confirming yet another loss for the club. With revenue down and concerns growing over future spending, Tottenham fans have not held back in their reaction to Daniel Levy’s latest statement.

Tottenham Hotspur’s financial results for last season have been published, and unsurprisingly, the club has recorded another loss—its third in a row.

Their absence from the UEFA Champions League has played a major role in the downturn, with the lack of elite European competition significantly impacting revenue.

While chairman Daniel Levy has pointed to off-field investments as a source of recurring income for Tottenham, he has also issued a stark warning—this model has to be sustainable, and it could limit the club’s transfer spending in the long run.

In his statement, the chairman also acknowledged the unwavering support of Spurs fans and called for a strong end to the season.

Daniel Levy said: “As we announce our financial results for the year to 30 June 2024, we currently find ourselves in 14th position in the Premier League, navigating what has been a highly challenging season on the pitch. We are, however, in the quarter-finals of the UEFA Europa League.

“Winning this competition would see welcome silverware and mean qualification for the UEFA Champions League. We must do everything we can to support the team in these final key stages. Since opening our new stadium in April 2019, we have invested over £700 million net in player acquisitions.

“Recruitment remains a key focus, and we must ensure that we make smart purchases within our financial means. I often read calls for us to spend more, given that we are ranked as the ninth richest club in the world. However, a closer examination of today’s financial figures reveals that such spending must be sustainable in the long term and within our operating revenues.

“Our capacity to generate recurring revenues determines our spending power. We cannot spend what we do not have, and we will not compromise the financial stability of this club – indeed, our off-pitch revenues have significantly supplemented the lower football revenues this year, a testament to our diversified income strategy.

“I want to thank everyone who supports us through good times and bad. We are resilient and passionate about our Club. We shall aim to finish this season as strongly as we can and continue to build for success on the pitch.”

With Ange Postecoglou’s side still competing in the Europa League, securing a Champions League place remains a possibility.

Tottenham fans vent their frustrations at Daniel Levy

Tottenham fans who have seen the latest financial reports have taken to social media to voice their frustrations, with many renewing their calls for Levy and ENIC to leave the club.

One fan raged: “Of course revenue is down—we haven’t got any more £100m players to sell and not properly replace!! Just get them out—anyone still on the fence about Levy and ENIC should see this as the final straw. They only care about the money! Bet he still gets his bonus too!!”

Another supporter added: “You can spend £700m on players, but until the big wages are paid, you’ll waste 80% of that money on tat.”

A different fan commented: “And there you go—right there is Levy’s excuse to not spend big in the summer in black and white.”

One frustrated supporter said: “Now show us how our wages compare to any other top side? Oh no? Yeah, all well and good paying transfer fees for average players, but you won’t spend money on ready-made players who can make a difference instantly! F**k off, baldy! #COYS #LevyOut #AngeOut”

Another fumed: “Better throw another Beyoncé or Taylor Swift concert because you’ve no chance of winning silverware.”

One supporter took aim at Levy directly: “He’s stripped £50m off the wage bill and gives himself over £250k a week. That’s the reason we’re 14th.”

A crucial summer ahead for Spurs

Of course, Spurs fans are desperate for success, and the club’s current trajectory isn’t filling them with confidence.

This summer will be pivotal, as Tottenham need significant investment if they are to return to the Champions League and compete at the highest level.

Levy’s comments about financial caution feel like a prelude to yet another restrained transfer window, but the truth is Spurs are still in a position to spend. Let’s not forget, there are still a few players who can be sold to boost the transfer kitty.

According to the recent financial report, the club reported a loss of £26.2m for the 2023-24 financial year, a significant improvement on the £86.8m loss recorded in the previous period. It shows that while Spurs are still operating at a deficit, they are closing the gap.

A big summer awaits, and there’s no room for excuses. Spurs must bring in quality players who can genuinely improve the squad. The fans have made their stance clear—Levy and ENIC need to act.

One big comeback, two crucial changes – Tottenham’s strongest XI after international break

One big comeback, two crucial changes – Tottenham’s strongest XI after international break - Spurs Web
Description

Ange Postecoglou will be thankful for the international break as his Tottenham side was struggling to pick up results, despite the majority of his squad returning to full fitness. Now, with the International break firmly out the way, we’ve put together Spurs’ strongest XI for the crucial end-of-season run-in.

Without a doubt, the international break couldn’t have come at a better time for Ange Postecoglou and Tottenham Hotspur. A chance to reset, recalibrate, and, most importantly, welcome back key players for the crucial run-in.

A team that seemed to have turned a corner in February, winning three of four matches, has since faltered, picking up just one victory in their last four.

Before the break, Spurs suffered a dismal 2-0 defeat to Fulham, marking their 15th loss of the Premier League season and piling further pressure on Postecoglou.

A top-four finish in the Premier League is long gone, but European football remains within reach. If Spurs are to lift the Europa League trophy and end their barren run, Postecoglou must have his best XI available.

Here’s the strongest Tottenham XI for Ange Postecoglou after the international break as the club enters a crunch part of the season with the Europa League on the line.

Tottenham’s strongest XI after the international break

Goalkeeper – Guglielmo Vicario

This one is straightforward. Vicario has been nothing short of impressive since his return from injury, and if anything, his absence only reinforced how crucial he is to this side. Spurs look a completely different team with him between the sticks.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Right-back – Pedro Porro

Options at right-back are thin. While Djed Spence is naturally a right-back, he looks more comfortable on the left. Porro, on the other hand, has stepped up defensively and remains a key part of Postecoglou’s system. He has played 41 games already this season and if he can add a few more goals and assists, he’ll be even more invaluable.

Centre-back – Cristian Romero

There’s been plenty of noise about Romero potentially leaving for Champions League football. But if Spurs want to get there, Romero has to be at the heart of it. He’s one of the best centre-backs in the world—no debate.

Of course, given that Spurs have had to play a huge chunk of their season without their main centre-back pairing, the return of Romero and van de Ven are the two crucial changes in Tottenham’s strongest XI.

Centre-back – Micky van de Ven

Irreplaceable. That’s the only way to describe Van de Ven. Spurs look ten times better when he’s on the pitch, and his pace, technical ability, and defensive awareness make him one of the most important players in the squad. Keeping him fit is non-negotiable.

Left-back – Djed Spence

Spence’s rise this season has been impressive. The talent has always been there, but now he’s proving why he deserves to be in this team. Solid defensively, and a threat going forward—he has made that left-back spot his own, and Udogie will have a serious fight to reclaim it. Spence has also spoken about how he wants Spurs to start winning trophies, and one would expect that he would be given his all to reach that goal.

Pivot midfielder – Lucas Bergvall

Bergvall had an injury scare during the international break, but he’s back and fit to face Chelsea. With Bentancur and Bissouma struggling for consistency, Bergvall’s consistency makes him a key figure for Spurs. You know exactly what you’re getting with him, and that’s what this team needs right now.

Centre-midfielder – James Maddison

Baffling. That’s the only word for it when Maddison is left out. Yes, his off-the-ball work rate needs improvement, but his impact in the final third is undeniable. With 11 goals and seven assists this season, he’s a match-winner. Spurs need him, simple as that.

Centre-midfielder – Pape Matar Sarr

Bentancur and Bissouma? Too inconsistent. It’s frustrating how often Postecoglou persists with Bentancur when he doesn’t always put in the work. In this high-intensity system, that can’t fly. Sarr, however, brings the energy and defensive solidity needed in midfield. And he chips in with the odd goal, too.

Left-midfielder – Heung-min Son

Inconsistent? Yes. But he’s still Tottenham’s most productive attacker, with 11 goals and 12 assists in all competitions—more than anyone else in the squad. Even when not at his best, Son remains Spurs’ biggest attacking threat.

Striker – Dominic Solanke

No debate here. Solanke makes Spurs a better team. Whether it’s linking play, pressing from the front, or holding up the ball, he does it all. If Tottenham were playing a cup final tomorrow, he’d be leading the line.

Right-midfielder – Dejan Kulusevski

Kulusevski has been Tottenham’s best player this season. Every team needs a workhorse like him. His versatility, work rate, and relentless energy make him invaluable.

No player in the Premier League runs more than Kulusevski, and that tells you everything. Odobert has impressed, but Kulusevski remains a vital piece of the puzzle. Of course, He is the one big comeback for Spurs, as Kulusevski is set to return from injury after the International break.

Indeed, while these eleven key players would be vital to Spurs’ success this season, Tottenham still have a solid core of squad players whose contributions would be equally as vital.

Richarlison, Danso, Bentancur, Gray, Bissouma, Mathys Tel, Ben Davies and Brennan Johnson, will all have to contribute as well, if Tottenham are to have a strong end of the season.
