Description

Tottenham Hotspur have contacted the representatives of a managerial target, and he's now thought to be stalling talks over a new contract at his current club.

Tottenham's shortlist of targets to replace Ange Postecoglou

While the consensus is that an historic campaign in the Europa League could save Ange Postecoglou, starting with their all-important quarter-final tie against Eintracht Frankfurt, there are those who believe the Australian could be gone regardless.

Following a lowly Premier League campaign where Spurs lie 14th in the table, recording 16 defeats, Postecoglou's tenure has been described as "irreparable", and the Australian is fully aware of this narrative.

"I don't think you're going to win that argument of convincing people, well I think [someone] wrote that even if we win it, I'm gone anyway," said Postecoglou on his future in a pre-match press conference before their tie with Eintracht.

"We've been through a really tough time, but we're still in a position where we can make an impact, and you don't know how often you get those opportunities."

If the Lilywhites do opt to part company with Postecoglou, Tottenham have their shortlist of ideal candidates.

According to The Athletic, Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola, Fulham's Marco Silva and Brentford's Thomas Frank all feature highly in the club's thinking, while the reliable Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Inter Milan head coach Simone Inzaghi has admirers within Spurs.'

More potential candidates are emerging as we approach the end of the campaign, and one of them is believed to be Crystal Palace's Oliver Glasner.

The Austrian is attracting rumoured interest from north London, following an impressive 2024/2025 at Selhurst Park where he's even guided Palace to an FA Cup semi-final spot at Wembley.

Tottenham started to become linked with Glasner last week, with Sport Bild reporting in the last few days that contact has now been made for the 50-year-old.

Now, as per The Boot Room and journalist Graeme Bailey, another update has come to light on their interest in Glasner.

According to their information, Glasner is stalling talks over a new contract at Palace, and Spurs have indeed reached out to the tactician's representatives to express their interest in appointing him.

Glasner is believed to be fully aware of Tottenham's approach, and he's postponing new deal talks until he gets more clarity on Steve Parish's long-term plans for the club.

The £4.5 million-per-year Palace boss has enjoyed a stellar 2025, with only Premier League title frontrunners Liverpool taking more points this calendar year than the south Londoners, so his job is rightfully turning heads across the English capital.

"He’s very structured, very well organised, meticulous, observes the opposition very closely and prepares the team very well for them,” said former Bayern Munich boss Niko Kovač to the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, during Glasner's tenure at Eintracht.

“He doesn’t just let Eintracht run their boots off. He adjusts tactics, tries to simulate the opponent during the week in training. Oliver has transferred his ideas of football well to his team because he works methodically, because there’s no chopping and changing.”

Description

Away from their terrible form this season, there is something exciting happening at Tottenham Hotspur.

Ange Postecoglou might not be in the hot seat for much longer, but he has helped bring in some tremendously promising youngsters who could be the club's future, like Lucas Bergvall, Archie Gray, and Wilson Odobert.

It's the first time in a long time that the North Londoners have had such an exciting crop of prospects, and so long as they keep developing, there is no telling how good they'll be.

Moreover, Daniel Levy and Co appear to want to sign more up-and-coming stars, with reports linking the club with someone who's previously won comparisons to Dele Alli.

Tottenham Transfer news

Alongside adding more young talent to the squad, Tottenham also seem keen to sign some first-team quality players, with Bournemouth's Antoine Semenyo on their list.

The Cherries ace is supposedly available for around £43m, which might prove to be good value, as not only is he capable of playing in multiple positions, but has also racked up a tally of nine goals and six assists in 35 games this season.

Another star who'd be able to slot into the first team right away is Eberechi Eze, who remains a target for the North Londoners and would be gettable for £60m.

So far this season, the England international has scored six goals and provided 11 assists in 33 games for Crystal Palace.

However, the latest player to be touted for a move to N17 could be the most exciting and possesses the most potential of the lot: Jobe Bellingham.

According to a recent report from Caught Offside, Spurs are one of several top sides keen on signing the Sunderland star this summer, alongside Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal, Palace, Brighton & Hove Albion, Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen.

The report does not mention how much the teenager might cost, but stories from last month revealed he could be available for around £20m.

It would be a complicated transfer to get over the line, but given Bellingham's ability and sky-high potential, one well worth pursuing, especially as he's been compared to Dele.

How Bellingham compares to Dele

So before we get into some of the other reasons why signing Bellingham would be a good idea, it's worth examining this comparison to Dele and where it came from.

In this instance, it stems from former professional Adrian Clarke, who described the Englishman as possessing a "Dele Alli-style" in the way he plays, in that he often ghosts "in from that box-to-box role."

Moreover, across his short career so far, the Sunderland gem has shown an impressive ability to play in several positions, like defensive, central and attacking midfield, and he's even made a few appearances up top and out wide as well.

Likewise, while in North London, the former Spurs superstar could play almost anywhere on the pitch, from attacking midfield to second striker and, on occasion, as a deep-lying playmaker.

On top of their stylistic and positional similarities, the Black Cats' "freak of nature," as dubbed by teammate Dan Neil, would be another youngster with incredible potential moving from a lower league team to the Lilywhites, as the former MK Dons gem did back in 2015.

With all that said, and away from the comparisons, one of the reasons the North Londoners should look to sign the former Birmingham City prospect is that his underlying numbers are seriously impressive for someone so young.

According to FBref, the 19-year-old sits in the top 1% of midfielders in the Championship for long pass completion, the top 9% for passes blocked, the top 11% for goal-creating actions from take-ons and aerial duels won, the top 12% for ball recoveries and more, all per 90.

Ultimately, while it might seem like a lot to spend on a teenager from the Championship, Bellingham would be worth it, and if he can make good on the comparisons to Dele, £20m will be a steal.

Description

Tottenham Hotspur have initiated contact over potentially appointing an "exciting" and "attacking" manager to replace Ange Postecoglou, with speculation continuing to mount in regard to the Spurs boss' long-term future.

Ange Postecoglou makes admission over Spurs job

The 59-year-old is said to be facing a last chance to maintain his position in the dugout for next season, following a lacklustre Premier League campaign where Spurs find themselves 14th in the league after 16 top-flight defeats in total.

Fabrizio Romano and other reliable media outlets report that the Europa League will be crucial in saving Postecoglou's job at Spurs, and failure to perform in the competition will more than likely result in a change of manager.

Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola is also believed to be Tottenham's top managerial target if they decide to go in a different direction to the ex-Celtic gaffer, while Fulham's Marco Silva, Inter Milan's Simone Inzaghi and Brentford's Thomas Frank have all been linked in the last fortnight.

Speaking in a pre-match press conference ahead of the Lilywhites' crucial Europa League quarter-final clash with Eintracht Frankfurt, Postecoglou admitted he's aware of some sentiments that he could be sacked regardless of their European campaign.

"I came to this club with a clear purpose of rejuvenating a squad that was coming to the end of a cycle," said Postecoglou on his future.

"I just think we're in that position that the good stuff we may do is going to be turned into a glass half full rhetoric and from that perspective I don't think that can be a driver in what we want to do. The lads are really keen to bring success to the club.

"I don't think you're going to win that argument of convincing people, well I think [someone] wrote that even if we win it, I'm gone anyway.

"That's not having a go at you, that's just saying the general sentiment of people."

Tottenham are also reportedly interested in Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner, who's just guided the Eagles to an FA Cup semi-final and has impressed with the job he's done at Selhurst Park.

Last week, it was claimed that Tottenham are real admirers of Glasner, who Red Bull's head of Global Soccer, Jurgen Klopp, really likes and is targeting for RB Leipzig.

Now, Sport Bild have another update on the Austrian and Spurs' interest.

It is believed Tottenham have made contact for Glasner, and they're seen as serious threats to Leipzig's prospects of hiring the 50-year-old, considering they can tempt the Austrian with a higher wage packet.

With an approach apparently made, supporters will be intrigued to see Palace chairman Steve Parish's glowing endorsement of Glasner, who lavished the head coach with praise following his appointment last year.

"He has an outstanding record, and we believe he is the right manager to take the club forward at this pivotal stage," said Parish last season.

"Wherever Oliver has gone so far in his managerial journey, success has been quick to follow, and we believe his ambition, as well as his exciting and attacking approach is the perfect fit for getting the most from our talented young squad in the remainder of this Premier League season and beyond."

Taking this into account, and his solid managerial candidate, he could be a strong outside candidate to rival the likes of Iraola and Silva.

Description

Tottenham Hotspur have held talks with a "top" Premier League player via his representatives ahead of the summer transfer window, but it is believed cross-town rivals Arsenal are equally keen.

Spurs set for key summer transfer window after dismal season

The Lilywhites could look very different on paper, both in terms of the team sheet and the dugout, with manager Ange Postecoglou also under intense pressure at Spurs right now.

Following a dismal Premier League campaign, where the Lilywhites find themselves 14th in the table after 16 league defeats, something simply has to give ahead of next season, where Spurs will be looking to restore their reputation as a 'big six' side.

Cases have been made that Postecoglou's side simply do not have the strength in depth or star quality to compete with England's most elite sides, and if Daniel Levy doesn't green-light more serious investment into the squad, they're in danger of falling even further behind.

Whether Levy does splash the cash is up for debate, especially after his message following the club's latest published set of financial accounts for the last tax year.

“I often read calls for us to spend more, given we are ranked as the ninth-richest club in the world," said Levy in an official statement.

"However, a closer examination of today’s financial figures reveals that such spending must be sustainable in the long term and within our operating revenues. Our capacity to generate recurring revenues determines our spending power.

“We cannot spend what we do not have, and we will not compromise the financial stability of this club."

With Levy looking to approach the summer window with financial caution, Tottenham technical director Johan Lange and Chief Football Officer Scott Munn must be clever in navigating the competition for star players.

Release clauses will be a reoccurring theme, with news of Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap and his potential good value attracting attention from everywhere, including Spurs.

Delap is a rumoured target for Tottenham, and he could be one of the biggest stories of the summer.

Tottenham hold talks with Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap via agents

The England Under-21 international has enjoyed an excellent season at Portman Road, scoring 12 goals in the top flight alone, and it is now believed that Delap could be available for just £40 million this summer.

This is tied in with a release clause, which is dependent on Ipswich being relegated, and if Kieran McKenna's side suffer the drop, clubs will likely be chomping at the bit to trigger the £40m buy-option.

According to The Boot Room and journalist Graeme Bailey, Tottenham have held talks with Delap via his camp already, with Levy and co sensing a potential transfer opportunity amid the clause.

However, they'll face stiff competition, including Arsenal, who've also reached out to his camp. The 22-year-old has admirers everywhere, and news of his potential £40m price tag will only intensify the number of suitors.

"He is a pest. He is a nuisance. He is always there on the shoulders of the centre-backs. He is making runs in the channels. He is always available," said former Spurs keeper Paul Robinson on Delap.

"When it looks like he isn't going to win the ball, he puts his body in between the player and the ball, somehow managing to win a free-kick or something for his team. He is a top, top player."

He could save their season: Ange must axe Son for "mind-blowing" Spurs ace

He could save their season: Ange must axe Son for "mind-blowing" Spurs ace - Football FanCast
Description

It all comes down to this: Tottenham Hotspur's season rests on their tie against Eintracht Frankfurt.

Ange Postecoglou's side have endured a torrid Premier League campaign, and with them out of the FA Cup, the manager's record of winning silverware in his second season relies on them winning the Europa League.

It would be fair to say then that tonight's game is the most important game in the Australian's tenure at the club, so he has to get his selection and tactics spot on, as the German outfit are no pushovers.

Therefore, while it might sound harsh and maybe even a little counterintuitive, he must take Son Heung-min out of the starting lineup.

Why Son has to be dropped

So, before people start throwing things, we recognise that on ability alone, Son is one of the better players in the Spurs squad, but unfortunately, that alone is not enough in a game like this.

Frankfurt are going to come flying out of the blocks tonight, and while it's not his fault, the South Korean superstar is not the rapid and incredibly dynamic winger he once was.

It's a simple fact of life that, at 32 years old, he isn't able to play games with the same level of intensity that he once did, with research from The Athletic pointing out that wide players peak at 26 and become significantly less effective at beating their full-back once they hit 30.

Moreover, the former Bayer Leverkusen star hasn't even been producing much either, as he's scored just one goal in his last ten league appearances and failed to add to his tally in the Round of 16 tie against AZ Alkmaar.

Finally, according to FBref, he's in the bottom 44% of attacking midfielders and wingers for successful take-ons in the Premier League this season, which is not what you want from your left-winger ahead of a must-win European knockout tie.

The good news is that there is someone who could step in for Son, someone with recent experience of playing in Germany.

The Spurs star who should start ahead of Son

While some might call for Mikey Moore to start on the left tonight, we reckon the player to come in for Son should be Mathys Tel.

Now, we know the Frenchman hasn't exactly lit the world alight since moving to North London in the winter window, but he has shown glimpses of quality here and there, such as his consolation goal away to Aston Villa in the FA Cup.

However, that's not really relevant, as the main reason he should be in from the word go tonight is that, based on his performances last season, he's capable of bringing an abundance of energy and dynamism to the left-hand side, and in turn likely force Frankfurt to at least be more cautious of quick breaks and counter-attacks.

For example, FBref placed him in the top 9% of attacking midfielders and wingers in the Bundesliga for successful take-ons last season, with an average of 3.17 per 90.

Moreover, when the "mind-blowing" prospect, as dubbed by talent scout Jacek Kulig, was given game time, he was simply sensational, scoring ten goals and providing six assists in just 1406 minutes across 41 appearances.

That means the explosive attacker averaged a goal involvement every 2.56 games, or more impressively, every 87.87 minutes.

Finally, it would also be a brilliant idea to play Tel for the first 65 minutes or so, have him run the defence ragged, and then bring Son on, who might be able to find more space and punish them with his still impressive finishing.

Ultimately, Spurs need to win this tie to save their season, and the best way of doing that is by playing with intensity and dynamism, which is something the Frenchman has in spades.

An Eriksen repeat: World-class Spurs star will be "interested" in leaving

An Eriksen repeat: World-class Spurs star will be "interested" in leaving - Football FanCast
Description

It looks set to be another summer of significant change for Tottenham Hotspur this year.

The Lilywhites didn't get enough business done last year, and that, combined with a terrible run of injuries, has seen their domestic campaign go from bad to worse this season.

However, it's not just incomings that could completely alter the team in the coming months, but outgoings, as it remains to be seen whether Ange Postecoglou will keep his job and several key stars have also been linked with an exit.

In fact, the club could even be at risk of losing one of their most important players in a move that would feel reminiscent of Christian Eriksen's transfer in 2020.

Tottenham's potential exits

Without a doubt, the biggest story concerning an exit from Tottenham at the moment concerns Cristian Romero, as, after being linked with Real Madrid earlier this year, reports from the last few weeks have touted him for a £67m move to Atlético Madrid.

Worse yet, those same reports have revealed that the Argentine would also like the move and has already held talks with Diego Simeone.

A far less damaging exit, and one likely welcomed by the fans, could be that of Timo Werner, as it was recently revealed that the North Londoners will likely not be making his stay permanent.

The RB Leipzig loanee has been underwhelming at best during his time at the club and has only been able to amass a haul of four goal involvements in 27 games.

However, a far more significant loss would be that of Dejan Kulusevski.

Yes, according to former Tottenham scout Mick Brown, the Swedish international is "going to be interested" in moving back to Serie A this summer.

Speaking to Football Insider, Brown revealed that AC Milan and Napoli are just some of the teams interested in him and that, due to him and other players feeling "frustrated" about how the season has panned out, it's a move that's genuinely "feasible even if Tottenham don't want to let him leave."

Losing the former Juventus ace would be a disaster for Spurs and a potential repeat of Eriksen's departure five years ago.

Why Kulusevski could be Eriksen 2.0

There are, unfortunately, a few reasons why Kulusevski's transfer this summer could mirror Eriksen's in 2020, and the first is the fact that they are both sensationally gifted creative midfielders.

For example, during his time in North London, the former Lilywhites star racked up an incredible haul of 69 goals and 88 assists in 305 appearances, which comes out to an average of a goal involvement every 1.94 games.

For his part, the "world-class" Stockholm-born maestro, as dubbed by talent scout Jacek Kulig, has scored 25 goals and provided 29 assists in 138 appearances, which comes out to an average of a goal involvement every 2.55 games.

However, this season has seen him spend more time in the middle of the park than on the wings for the first time in his Spurs career, which has seen him produce 20 goal involvements in 42 appearances or one every 2.1 games.

The next similarity would be their destinations and the fact that Tottenham did not want to lose them, as the current Manchester United ace left North London to join Inter Milan and Kulusevski's potential destination looking like it could be the black and red half of the city: AC Milan.

Finally, both players are key members of a Scandinavian national team, with Eriksen amassing a staggering 140 senior caps for Denmark and the Lilywhites star earning 45 for Sweden.

Description

It might not feel like it at the moment, but the future is bright for Tottenham Hotspur.

Ange Postecoglou may be overseeing a dreadful domestic campaign this season, which has seen them lose more games than they've won in the Premier League, but his squad is bursting with young talent.

For example, the sensational Mikey Moore and Wilson Odobert look primed to battle it out to be Son Heung-min's successor; Dominic Solanke and Mathys Tel could be fighting to lead the line next season, and Micky van de Ven, Djed Spence and the tremendously exciting Luka Vušković could become defensive stalwarts in the coming years.

Finally, the North Londoners' midfield could become truly special, with one of its future stars already having won comparisons to Jude Bellingham.

Spurs' future midfield

So, before getting to the player in question, it's worth examining the two other Spurs players we reckon will be starting alongside him in midfield in the coming years.

Now, assuming the team will still be playing a three-man midfield, the most defensive of them will undoubtedly be Archie Gray.

The former Leeds United gem joined the North Londoners for around £30m last summer and, despite just turning 19, has played a surprisingly significant role this season, primarily in defence.

In all, he's made 19 appearances at centre-back, seven at right-back, five at left-back, three in defensive midfield and another five so short as not to make it entirely clear where he was playing.

However, while most of his game time has come in a back four, he is a midfielder by trade and with how incredibly well he's adapted to what has been needed of him this year, we wouldn't be surprised to see him become the "future £100m cm" analyst Ben Mattinson has claimed he'll be.

Just ahead of the Durham-born gem should be Dejan Kulusevski, as while he initially joined the club as a winger, he's since spent much of this season as an attacking midfielder and thrived.

For example, eight of his 20 goal involvements have come from just 16 appearances across attacking and central midfield.

Moreover, as he's still just 24 years old, the Stockholm-born monster has time to get even better before reaching the age that most attacking midfielders peak, which, according to The Athletic, is 26.

That leaves one more starting spot in the middle of the park, a place for someone who's been touted for a lofty valuation and has been compared to Bellingham.

The Spurs star compared to Bellingham

There are a few other talented midfielders we have yet to mention, like James Maddison and Pape Matar Sarr, but in this instance, we are talking about Lucas Bergvall.

The young Swede has been seriously impressive since moving to Spurs in the summer, making 40 first-team appearances, and it's he whom Mattinson described as "similar to Bellingham" in November 2023.

At the time, he claimed their similarity stemmed from the fact that the teenager "has the raw & technical ability to adapt to any role" in the middle of the park, something we have seen this season.

For example, of his 40 appearances, 24 have come in central areas, five in defensive midfield, four in attacking midfield and even one in left midfield, helping to prove he's the "uber-complete" talent Mattinson claimed he was over a year ago.

Moreover, on top of his five-goal involvements, the Stockholm-born gem has some brilliant underlying numbers from the last year, demonstrating his ability to do it all, akin to the Real Madrid star.

According to FBref, he sits in the top 1% of midfielders in Europe's top five leagues for successful take-ons, the top 2% for penalties won, the top 4% for tackles in the attacking third, the top 7% for tackles plus interceptions, the top 11% for carries into the final third and more, all per 90.

Description

Tottenham Hotspur have been tipped to appoint a "perfect" replacement for under-fire boss Ange Postecoglou, but it isn't their rumoured top managerial target Andoni Iraola.

Ange Postecoglou relying on Europa League to save Tottenham job

Following a dismal Premier League campaign, with Postecoglou on course to become Spurs' worst-ever head coach in the competition's history, the Australian is seriously under the cosh.

A 3-1 win over relegated Southampton on Sunday provided a rare break from the pressure surrounding Postecoglou's position, with the 59-year-old now fully focused on getting past Eintracht Frankfurt in the first leg of their Europa League quarter-final tie on Thursday.

It is widely believed that Postecoglou is relying on a good run in the Europa League to keep his job at Tottenham, and this is echoed by reliable journalist Fabrizio Romano.

“It’s not over yet, but it’s a dangerous situation, the one of Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham," said Romano on his YouTube channel last week.

"I know Spurs fans are not happy with the current situation. It’s really poor in terms of points. In the Europa League, it’s a different story. Now, there is an important clash with Eintracht [Frankfurt]. So the Europa League is saving the season at the moment for Tottenham and Postecoglou.

“If Tottenham win the Europa League, this could change the whole sense of the project. Next year, they would be in the Champions League finally, so it would be really important. Otherwise, the expectation is that there is a very concrete and strong chance for Tottenham to replace Postecoglou at the end of the season."

The Lilywhites have already been drawing up potential replacements for Postecoglou, including Iraola, who is believed to be their leading candidate for the job (The Athletic).

However, the 42-year-old isn't Spurs' only option, with links also surrounding Fulham boss Marco Silva.

Some reports even suggest that Tottenham have already made an apporach for Silva, following another impressive campaign at Craven Cottage for the Portuguese. European football is very much still alive for the Whites, and they're fresh off the back of a thrilling 3-2 win over Premier League title frontrunners Liverpool.

Tottenham tipped to appoint Marco Silva instead of Andoni Iraola

Now, TalkSPORT pundit Troy Deeney has explained why Silva would be the "perfect" appointment for Tottenham, with the ex-Watford striker tipping him to transform Spurs in just three months.

“The biggest compliment you could take for Marco Silva is that, if you look at all the people that are around him – his staff – they’ve been poached, because they (other clubs) want Marco Silva but they go and get the people off his branches," said Deeney on air (via West London Sport).

“He’s ready for a big team. I think he’d be perfect for Spurs if they would allow him to just go and take over and not get involved too much from up above.

“I think he’d change the culture of that place within three months. Marco is definitely ready. Fulham are on a good trajectory, but I think they’ll struggle to keep him long term.”

10 strikers who could replace Timo Werner at Tottenham

Description

The 2025 summer transfer window could be another busy one for Tottenham Hotspur and Ange Postecoglou, with attacking reinforcements potentially on the agenda for Spurs.

Timo Werner extended his loan spell from RB Leipzig for the 2024/25 season, but things haven't gone to plan for the German in north London.

Used primarily as a left-winger by Postecgolou, Werner has failed to impress back in England and even came in for criticism from the Spurs boss following a Europa League clash with Rangers.

"When you've got 18-year-olds [in the squad], it [that performance] is not acceptable to me," said Postecoglou.

"I said that to Timo, he's a German international. In the moment we're in right now - it's not like we've got many options - I need everyone to at least be going out there and trying to give the best of themselves. His performance in the first half wasn't acceptable."

Recently, journalist Fabrizio Romano claimed that Spurs have not changed their minds about turning down the chance to sign Werner permanently, with the forward even set to leave parent club RB Leipzig upon his return.

But who could come in as a replacement for Werner? We've looked at 10 wide forwards Spurs could target in the summer.

Borussia Dortmund

The latest Englishman starring abroad is Jamie Gittens of Borussia Dortmund. A U21 international for the Three Lions, Gittens is a former Chelsea and Man City academy ace and has been linked with Spurs in the past.

Previous reports have even claimed that Daniel Levy is willing to offer €100m for Gittens - equivalent to £83m - so it looks as if he is one of the top wide targets in north London.

Brentford

Bryan Mbeumo has been a Premier League star for Brentford in recent years, and following the departure of Ivan Toney, he has stepped up as the main man for the Bees.

It does look as if he could be on the move, though, and Tottenham are one of the clubs who have been heavily linked with a move for the Cameroon international.

Mbeumo mainly plays off the right, though, so Postecoglou may need to tinker things if he is to be Werner's replacement.

Southampton

With Southampton being relegated to the Championship, Tyler Dibling could be a player in demand this summer after impressing for the Saints.

Still just 19 years of age, Dibling, who is left-footed, can play as an attacking midfielder, winger or centre-forward. Spurs were thought to be in pole position to sign Dibling in January, so it wouldn’t be a shock if they were working on a summer deal behind the scenes.

Bournemouth

Bournemouth have been enjoying an excellent 2024/25 season under Andoni Iraola, with Antoine Semenyo one of the Cherries' main stars on the south coast.

The Ghana international has impressed playing on both the left and right wings, and was loosely linked with a £50m move to Tottenham towards the end of 2024.

He could be another attacker to keep an eye on should Spurs go down the route of proven Premier League stars.

Lyon

If Spurs want to shop abroad for a wide forward to replace Werner, Rayan Cherki of Lyon could be an option.

They were apparently offered Cherki for £20m in January due to Lyon’s financial problems, although there are 'personality' concerns regarding the 21-year-old.

There is no denying his talent, though, with Cherki a two-footed and versatile winger who appears to be at the top of his game with a career-high €35m Transfermarkt valuation.

PSV Eindhoven

Tottenham may look to revisit their interest in Johan Bakayoko of PSV Eindhoven if they are in the market for a wide forward this summer.

Linked with a move to Spurs in 2023, Fabrizio Romano called Bakayoko an "elite talent", with the Belgium international going on to impress in recent months.

He scored 14 goals for PSV during the 2023/24 season while registering the same number of assists, he has been at it again in 2024/25 with 11 goals to his name at the time of writing.

Galatasaray

Capable of playing anywhere across the front three is Barış Alper Yilmaz of Galatasaray, who has been mooted to make the move to the Premier League in 2025.

A Turkey international, Spurs showed interest in Yilmaz in 2024 when he was dubbed as the next Gareth Bale. The 24-year-old has enjoyed the best goalscoring season of his career in 2024/25, so he may be a wise option to replace the German.

Man City

A left-field shout for Spurs could be to look at somebody like Jack Grealish of Manchester City.

The England international has struggled at various points after his £100m move from Aston Villa, and there were rumours that his representatives are looking for a move away from the Etihad.

Any transfer could come at a fraction of the price City paid, so Spurs may feel they could get the best out of Grealish in north London.

Real Sociedad

Japan international Takefusa Kubo has been impressing for Real Sociedad since 2022 and can play on either wing or as an attacking midfielder. The 23-year-old was also linked with Spurs towards the end of 2024 in a potential £50m transfer.

Kubo has already played under Postecoglou during a loan spell with Yokohama F. Marinos, so who knows, the Australian could be keen on a reunion.

Tottenham Hotspur chiefs are now considering the possibility of poaching a star from Stamford Bridge, with Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca now prepared to let him go.

Ange Postecoglou faces crucial Europa League quarter-final

Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou is currently preparing for his most important match since taking over as manager.

The Lilywhites take on Eintracht Frankfurt in the first leg of their Europa League quarter-final on Thursday, and many see the tie as pivotal in determining Postecoglou's long-term future at N17.

It is truly Europa League or bust for the Australian, who is relying on a good run in Europe to have anything to shout about from this campaign. Sitting 14th in the table after 16 defeats in the league alone, Postecoglou is statistically on course to become Spurs' worst ever Premier League manager.

He'll be desperate to make history in the Europa and restore some of his reputation, amid protests surrounding the club's unpopular ownership by supporters. Large sections of the Spurs fanbase rallied against Daniel Levy and ENIC again on Sunday, so there is continuous pressure on the board to start delivering on-field success.

They warmed up for their clash with Frankfurt in solid fashion, relegating bottom side Southampton, with goals from Brennan Johnson (2) and a late Mathys Tel penalty handing Spurs all three points.

As Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola is repeatedly linked with becoming the new Tottenham manager to replace Postecoglou, major uncertainty surrounds the 59-year-old's future, but the Spurs recruitment team are also planning for new players ahead of next term.

Tottenham planning "surprise" move for Chelsea star Noni Madueke

According to Football Insider and journalist Pete O'Rourke, Chelsea winger and England international Noni Madueke is on their radar.

Tottenham are planning a "surprise" move for Madueke this summer, while it is also believed that Maresca will sanction his exit, which would free up a move for the north Londoners to strike a deal for PSV Eindhoven's ex-starlet.

At his best, Madueke has really shone as part of Chelsea's front three this term, especially during the first half of 2024/2025, but Maresca apparently has doubts whether the 23-year-old can fit into his system long-term.

As a result, Tottenham could look to re-sign Madueke seven years after he departed their youth set-up for PSV.

"He is top," said personal technical coach Saul Isaksson-Hurst to Sky Sports.

"For me, he is one of the best young forward players in Europe, easily. A lot of focus has been on Cody Gakpo at PSV, because of the World Cup, but Noni is up there.

"He is one of the best, if not the best, because he is so dynamic, so strong in one-v-ones, so technically gifted, so athletic."
