Tottenham’s standout defender Cristian Romero has been the focus of transfer speculation.

The Argentine international has attracted the interest of European powerhouses like Real Madrid, who are keen to secure his services this summer.

His performances last season were particularly impressive, with Romero making 33 Premier League appearances and scoring five goals, the highest among defenders in the league.

He has also continued his outstanding form for the country in the Copa America. He has been one of their best players, helping them to the semi-finals of the competition.

He has attracted interest from top clubs including Real Madrid, with recent reports suggesting that Ancelotti has identified him as a the player he wants to add to his star-studded side.

But signing him won’t be cheap. John Wenham, a reputable club insider asserts that Spurs should only consider selling Romero for a world-record fee for a defender.

Wenham emphasises that Tottenham should concentrate on building their team around the 26-year-old centre-back.

Romero, who joined the Lilywhites from Atalanta in the summer of 2021 for a substantial fee of €52 million, has established himself as a vital player under Ange Postecoglou.

Given his pivotal role, Wenham suggests that Spurs would be justified in demanding an excessive transfer fee if they were to entertain offers for him. Romero’s contract with the Lilywhites runs until 2027, further solidifying his value to the club.

Wenham also highlighted Romero’s leadership qualities, as he was named vice-captain last season. This move is part of a strategy to build the team’s defensive strength around him.

Speaking to Tottenham News, he said:

“Romero is contracted with Tottenham until 2027.

“As a result, I think the club would be completely within their rights to demand a world record fee for a defender.

“We should be looking to build the team around Romero. I think that process started last season when he was named vice-captain.

“Maybe we shouldn’t be putting a price on him, but if we were, it would be a ridiculous fee.”

The Argentine centre-back’s impressive form has not only secured his place in Tottenham’s lineup but has also attracted the attention of top European clubs.

As the transfer window progresses, Spurs remain committed to Romero, viewing him as a cornerstone of their squad for the foreseeable future.

Tottenham are actively exploring options to offload defender Emerson Royal this summer, with the club receiving notable interest from several teams.

Recent reports have suggested that the player is very close to signing for AC Milan with personal terms agreed.

The Italian club, however, has yet to come to an agreement on the fee with Tottenham, who are not willing to sell him on a cheap.

Spurs are reportedly seeking €25 million, the amount they initially paid for the full-back, whereas Milan aims to secure the deal for approximately €20 million.

Meanwhile, as per the latest reports, Barcelona have now emerged as a potential destination for the Brazilian full-back.

According to Mundo Deportivo via Foot Mercato, the Spanish giants are keen on re-signing Emerson in the current transfer window.

Barcelona, who sold Emerson to Tottenham in the summer of 2021, are considering him as a viable option to strengthen their right-back position, particularly with Joao Cancelo’s loan period ending last month.

Despite Emerson’s versatility, filling roles at left-back and centre-back in addition to his primary right-back position, he struggled to cement a consistent starting role under manager Ange Postecoglou.

Last season, the 25-year-old defender made 22 Premier League appearances, starting only 11 games. (Transfermarkt)

With his contract running until June 2026, Tottenham are keen on moving Emerson on, as he does not align with Postecoglou’s vision for the team.

Barcelona’s interest in re-acquiring Emerson introduces a new twist to his transfer situation.

The Lilywhites aim to negotiate a deal that meets their financial and strategic objectives, ensuring they can reinvest wisely in their squad for the upcoming season.

Tottenham defender Emerson Royal is nearing a potential departure from the club this summer, with AC Milan reportedly emerging as the frontrunner for his signature.

Sky Sports journalist Dharmesh Sheth recently shed light on Emerson’s situation during the Last Word on Spurs podcast.

Emerson, who joined Spurs from Barcelona in the summer of 2021, struggled to secure a regular starting position under manager Ange Postecoglou last season.

The 25-year-old full-back, who has two years remaining on his contract with the Lilywhites, has not been a primary choice for Tottenham’s backline.

He made 22 Premier League appearances, starting in only 11 of those games in the recent campaign.

Sheth confirmed that, despite ongoing rumours, there has been no official contact between AC Milan and Spurs regarding Emerson’s transfer.

While Milan’s interest is genuine and Emerson is open to the move, the crucial steps to finalize the deal have not yet been taken.

Sheth said:

“The speed of a potential deal will depend on what AC Milan do because the information I have as of the last few hours is that there’s been no official contact between the two clubs.

“Yes, there is interest and yes Emerson Royal would welcome a move to AC Milan, potentially there is a deal to be done, but the most important part of the deal hasn’t materialised yet.”

Tottenham are prepared to offload the Brazilian international and is open to entertaining offers for him during the ongoing summer transfer window. The club’s hierarchy has reportedly informed Emerson about his potential departure, allowing him to seek new opportunities.

The recent developments suggest that Emerson is not part of Spurs’ long-term plans, and the club is actively looking to facilitate his move away.

As the transfer window progresses, it remains to be seen whether AC Milan will formalize their interest and whether a deal can be reached that satisfies all parties involved.

Tottenham remains determined to strengthen their midfield options this summer, with Jacob Ramsey being a prominent target.

Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth recently addressed Spurs’ interest in Ramsey on the Last Word on Spurs podcast.

Tottenham have already bolstered their midfield by signing Archie Gray for a reported £40 million. Now, the club aims to further strengthen this area by acquiring Ramsey from Aston Villa.

Earlier this summer, Spurs’ initial offer of £20 million plus Giovani Lo Celso was rejected by Villa. However, recent reports indicate that a revised bid of £30 million plus Lo Celso might be sufficient to secure Ramsey.

Ramsey’s importance to Aston Villa was highlighted during the 2022/23 season, where he scored six goals and provided seven assists in 35 Premier League appearances. He played a key role in Villians finishing 4th on the table and qualifying for the Champions League last season. (Transfermarkt)

Adding a midfielder like Gray does not preclude Tottenham from pursuing another talent in Ramsey.

The 23-year-old offers a unique skill set compared to Gray, capable of operating as both a hybrid number 8 and number 10. His footballing intelligence, ball-carrying ability, and defensive work rate make him a versatile and valuable addition to the midfield.

Dharmesh Sheth noted that despite the recent quiet in the news, the deal is still very much alive.

The Sky Sports man said:

“I was speaking to someone about this earlier on because it went quiet when a deal didn’t materialise, but I am told it’s not off the table yet as far as Tottenham are concerned, they are still interested in Jacob Ramsey.”

An improved bid could potentially secure Ramsey’s signature, giving Spurs another dynamic option in the centre of the pitch.

Strengthening the midfield with both Gray and Ramsey would significantly enhance Tottenham’s chances of success in the Premier League next season.

Tottenham are intensifying their efforts to strengthen their defence during this transfer window.

Spurs have been linked with several players including Bologna defender Riccardo Calafiori. However, recent reports have suggested that Arsenal are leading the race to sign him.

Calafiori has garnered significant attention from London clubs, including Arsenal and Chelsea, with the Gunners reportedly close to finalising the deal for the centre-back.

But according to Gazzetta, Tottenham are now making a determined push to hijack a deal for Calafiori, despite Arsenal still being the frontrunners.

Calafiori, who rejoined Serie A with Bologna last August, has had a standout season under head coach Thiago Motta.

Initially a full-back, Calafiori transitioned to a centre-back role and became one of the league’s top defenders.

Last season, Calafiori made 37 appearances across all competitions, contributing two goals and five assists in his 31 starts. His impressive performances were pivotal in helping Bologna achieve a top-five finish in Serie A and secure a spot in the UEFA Champions League for the first time since 1964-65.

The 22-year-old defender also made his competitive debut for Italy in the ongoing European Championship, further showcasing his talent on the international stage.

Tottenham’s interest in Calafiori is in line with their recent transfer strategies. The club recently hijacked a deal for Archie Gray, who had previously agreed to terms with Brentford, demonstrating Spurs’ commitment to acquiring promising talents. They signed Lucas Bergvall in January in similar fashion, swooping in late to beat Barcelona for his signature.

With Calafiori’s versatility to play both as a left-back and centre-back, his addition would significantly bolster Tottenham’s defence, specially given their requirement to sign another left-back as well.

As the transfer window progresses, Tottenham’s efforts to disrupt Arsenal’s plans and secure Calafiori’s signature will be closely watched.

Turkish outfit Fenerbahce are keen on signing Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg from Tottenham Hotspur this summer.

The 28-year-old Denmark international is set to leave the North London club permanently and a move to Fenerbahce is on the cards. According to the Turkish publication Sabah, Fenerbahce believe that the presence of Jose Mourinho at the helm could help them seal the deal.

Mourinho has worked with the Denmark international during their time together at Tottenham and he could play a key role in convincing the player to move to Turkey

Hojbjerg has struggled for regular game time at Tottenham and he needs to leave the club in order to play regularly. A move to Turkey might not be a bad idea for him. He is capable of operating as a deep-lying central midfielder as well as a defensive midfielder. Fenerbahce could use his quality, experience, and composure in the middle of the park.

The report states that the Turkish outfit will begin negotiations with Tottenham this week and it remains to be seen whether the clubs can finalise an agreement.

The Denmark international has fallen down the packing order at the North London club since the arrival of Ange Postecoglou and he is not a good fit for the Australian manager’s style of play. It would be ideal for both parties to go their separate ways.

The Denmark international will be able to play more often at another club, and Tottenham will be able to recoup some money from his departure and improve their squad in the transfer market.

Hull City winger Jaden Philogene has been linked with a move away from the Championship club and the likes of Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur could battle it out for his services this summer.

According to TEAMtalk, Manchester United are looking to sign the player this summer, but they will face competition from the North London club who are keen to improve their attacking unit.

Tottenham have the 22-year-old Hull City winger on their shortlist and it remains to be seen whether they can win the race for his signature. The highly-rated winger scored 12 goals in the Championship last season and picked up six assists along the way. He could transform Tottenham in the final third with his pace, flair and ability to find the back of the net. Tottenham need more cutting edge in the final third if they want to compete with the top clubs.

They failed to secure a top-four finish last season and Tottenham will be desperate for Champions League qualification in the upcoming season. They will look to push for domestic trophies as well. Signing the right players will help them do well and Philogene would be a quality long-term investment.

Similarly, Manchester United need more quality on the flanks as well. Jadon Sancho is likely to be sold this summer and the Hull City winger could be his replacement. Antony has been quite mediocre since joining the club as well, and it remains to be seen whether the Brazilian is shown the door before the new season begins.

The 22-year-old will be tempted to prove his quality in the English top flight and the likes of Tottenham and Manchester United will be attractive destinations for him.

Romano confirms Tottenham ‘appreciate’ 24 year-old, attacker is ‘on the list’ this summer

Tottenham Hotspur are keen on signing the Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Pedro Neto.

The 24-year-old has had his fair share of injury problems this past season, but he has impressed whenever he was fit to play. The Portuguese international picked up three goals and 11 assists in all competitions and his performances have attracted the attention of the North London club.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham ‘appreciate’ the 24-year-old attacker and he is ‘on the list’ of transfer targets for this summer. It will be interesting to see if they can get the deal done. Wolves will not want to sell the player for a knockdown price, and they could easily demand a substantial amount of money for their star attacker.

“Pedro Neto and Spurs, he is one of the names they have on the list. Pedro Neto, for sure, the only doubt has always been on injuries, so that is the point to clarify on Pedro Neto, but he’s one of the players they appreciate.”

Neto could be attracted to the idea of joining Tottenham this summer. It would be a step up in his career and he would get to compete at a high level. Tottenham have an exciting project and a quality manager. They could easily be pushing for major trophies in the coming seasons, and Neto will certainly be attracted to the idea of playing for them.

According to Give Me Sport, Tottenham remain worried about his injury history, and it will be interesting to see whether they decide to follow up on their interest with an official proposal. There is no doubt that Neto has the physical and technical attributes to develop into a top class Premier League attacker, but he needs to get over his injury problems.

The 24-year-old is versatile enough to operate on both flanks and he will add pace, goals, and creativity to the Tottenham attack if he joins the club.
