Watch Tottenham vs Leicester on Sunday for a pivotal match in the Premier League, with all the details here on live streams, TV channels, and how you can watch from anywhere with a VPN.

Ange Postecoglou will have breathed a sigh of relief in midweek as his side took a huge step towards qualification in the UEFA Europa League, but Spurs' attention must now quickly turn to rescuing their Premier League campaign.

In a season plagued by injuries, Dominic Solanke was the next name to be added to the treatment table meaning the striker expected to be out of action for at least six weeks.

Heung-min Son has just six goals to his name in the Premier League and boy could they do with another fix-star performance from their captain against the Foxes this weekend.

As for Ruud van Nistelrooy's side, it has been at all plain-sailing for the former Manchester United forward who took over in November. City are two points from safety and time is ticking away in their hopes for Premier League survival this season.

Uncertainty is hanging over the future of both managers and you feel Sunday could be a case of lose and your job is gone.

Can I watch Spurs vs Leicester in the UK?

Unfortunately, Spurs vs Leicester has not been selected for TV broadcast in the UK this weekend and will not be shown on Sunday.

It is only being played in a traditional TV slot because of Tottenham's involvement in the Europa League on Thursday night. Otherwise, it would have been played on Saturday at 3pm, when fixtures are covered by a TV blackout in the UK.

Tottenham in talks to offload striker, in surprise departure: report

Submitted by daniel on

Description

Tottenham Hotspur are looking to move on one of their most disappointing players of the season in the next 10 days, as the club get ruthless with underperformers.

The Lilywhites sit in the bottom half of the Premier League table, having won just once in the last 10 games. Manager Ange Postecoglou was visibly frustrated with questioning of his team's form after he watched his side lose 3-2 to Everton last weekend: and now his own position is coming into question, too.

With Spurs still in the League Cup, FA Cup and Europe League, there is still all to play for this season – but Dominic Solanke's six-week layoff gives Postecoglou another headache, as his injury-ravaged squad takes another hit.

Tottenham are short of numbers – and don't seem to be strengthening

Despite an injury list that contains Gugliemo Vicario, Micky van de Ven, Cristian Romero, Brennan Johnson and Rodrigo Bentancur, Tottenham have seemed reluctant to move for new signings this month, fielding a centre-back pairing of teenage midfielder Archie Gray with the unconvincing Radu Dragusin for much of 2025.

Tottenham are apparently keen to move stars on, however. Despite Solanke facing a spell on the sidelines, it's a striker that Spurs would like to cut their losses on and get rid of, ahead of the second half of the season.

A report from Gazzetta dello Sport via Sport Witness says Napoli are circling to bring Timo Werner to Serie A.

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, ranked at no.6 in FourFourTwo's list of the best left-wingers in the world right now, has just left the Partenopei to join Paris Saint-Germain – and while Alejandro Garnacho has been extensively linked, there are disagreements between the Italian outfit and Manchester United over a fee.

Karim Adeyemi is seen as the first-choice option to replace the Georgian genius, but fellow German Werner is being lined up as a potential Plan B, with talks already underway to prise the 28-year-old away from North London. Werner is on loan from RB Leipzig but has only recorded two league goals since joining this time last year.

In FourFourTwo's view, Werner's exit seems immaterial to Tottenham. Postecoglou has a host of forwards at his disposal, including young prospects who would probably benefit from minutes far more than Werner.

The bigger issue for Spurs is surely to get bodies through the door with Postecoglou's squad stretched to its absolute limits. There hasn't been too much movement on that front, however, which may worry some fans.

Tottenham looking to upgrade on Micky van de Ven, with star's future in question: report

Submitted by daniel on

Description

Tottenham Hotspur star Micky van de Ven may be on borrowed time in North London, with the club looking to upgrade on the Dutchman.

The Lilywhites are in a wretched run of form having won just once in the last 10 fixtures, with manager Ange Postecoglou feeling the pressure in the hot seat. In recent weeks, the Australian has been reduced to fielding third-choice centre-back Radu Dragusin alongside teenager Archie Gray.

Tottenham find themselves in the bottom half of the table – and with odds shortening on Spurs sacking the manager, there's been plenty of focus on some of the more important players in the squad.

Tottenham are eyeing €70m defender to fix problem position

Van de Ven, who is ranked at no.85 in FourFourTwo's list of the best players in the world right now, has played just seven times with centre-back partner Cristian Romero this season.

The Dutchman is the fastest player in the Premier League right now but has had repeated hamstring injuries, perhaps as a result of his physical style of defending. It seems, however, as though Tottenham are growing tired of this unavailability.

Sport Witness have relayed reports from SportBILD that the North Londoners are now ready to bring in Piero Hincapie from Bayer Leverkusen.

The Colombian had an eventful night against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League last night, scoring and getting sent off for the Bundesliga holders in an eventual loss. After links with Liverpool, however, the left-footed centre-back appears to be a target for Tottenham and Chelsea.

The report values the 23-year-old at €70 million, stating that a summer departure from Germany is more likely than one this month. Hincapie would likely be a starter, for that price, slotting into the team ahead of Van de Ven.

FourFourTwo understands that Tottenham are also planning for the departure of veteran defender Ben Davies. There could, however, be the scope to use Van de Ven at left-back, with Hincapie centrally, too.

In FourFourTwo's opinion, Spurs signing a left-sided defender is a certainty from the next two windows. Postecoglou rushed Van de Ven back against Chelsea earlier this season, only to see the star pick up another knock – but given Tottenham's hesistance to spend big in the market in recent seasons, coupled with a season in which they likely miss out on European football, Hincapie might not be a realistic target.

Next Tottenham manager odds: New favourites to become Ange Postecoglou's successor

Submitted by daniel on

Description

The next Tottenham manager odds are shaping up after Spurs' 3-2 defeat against Everton at the weekend heaped even more pressure on Ange Postecoglou.

The Australian boss has now overseen just one Premier League win in his last ten games and noise surrounding his future is continuing to grow. Postecoglou has struggled to often put a team together with a whole host of first-team stars currently sidelined through injury.

But players such as Son Heung-min, Dominic Solanke and James Maddison have heavily underperformed this season causing even more scrutiny for the Lilywhites manager, who is ranked at no.36 in FourFourTwo's list of the best managers in the world right now.

So who is favourite to take over in North London should Ange Postecoglou be sacked?

As provided by Paddy Power, Edin Terzic is leading the way to replace Postecoglou with odds of 9/2. Terzic led Borussia Dortmund to the Champions League final last season as they were narrowly tipped by European powerhouses Real Madrid.

Second favourite is Fulham boss Marco Silva at 11/2. The Portuguese coach has impressed during his spell with the Cottagers and is currently three years into his tenure.

Perhaps surprising that he is not higher up, Andoni Iraola is at 11/2. Iraola is doing a superb job with Bournemouth, and the Cherries have beaten Arsenal, Manchester City, and Manchester United so far this season.

Thomas Frank is also priced at 11/2 and his continuing progress with Brentford, despite their relatively small budget, makes for impressive viewing each and every season. Bryan Mbuemo is a player we here at FourFourTwo feel would have been a shrewd summer pick-up for Spurs.

Kieran McKenna continues to try and help Ipswich Town retain their Premier League status this term and at 9/1 we wouldn't rule out the the former Manchester United coach.

Gareth Southgate comes next at 14/1 after he led England to two major tournament finals. Southgate was also linked with a position in the Old Trafford dugout in 2024 but that move never materialised.

Everton vs Tottenham: Preview

Tottenham went through a phase of being known as inconsistent but they have now shaken that tag and lately emerged as consistently underperforming.

They're making decent progress in the cups but in the league they have only won one of their past nine games - that win coming a month ago. In that time, Ange Postecoglou's side have slumped to 14th in the Premier League table.

Spurs are only seven points ahead of an Everton side who have been engulfed in a relegation battle since the early days of the season. New manager David Moyes took charge of his first game in mid-week against Aston Villa but a 1-0 defeat was a reminder of the task that faces him after replacing Sean Dyche.

While Spurs have scored more goals than any team besides the league leaders Liverpool, Everton are painfully goal-shy. The Toffees have only scored 15 goals all season, drawing a blank in nine of their past 11 games.

REVEALED: How much money Tamworth would have earned if FA Cup third round versus Tottenham had gone to a replay

Submitted by daniel on

Description

Tamworth took Tottenham Hotspur to extra-time in the FA Cup third round on Sunday, but missed out on a massive fortune after the Football Association decided to scrap replays from the first round onwards from the start of the 2024/25 season.

Eventually, National League side Tamworth succumbed to a 3-0 defeat in extra-time to their Premier League opponents, after putting in a battling display during the initial 90 minutes.

But while Tottenham earned £115,000 in prize money for reaching the fourth round, where they will face another away trip to Aston Villa, Tamworth could have earned close to eight times that had replays still gone ahead.

How much money Tamworth could have made if FA Cup third round with Tottenham went to a replay

According to football finance expert Kieran Maguire, Tamworth missed out on an approximate £850,000 from gate receipts, while Talksport reported last year that teams involved in replays selected for TV earn an additional £25,000 each.

“If the match had gone to a replay, at an average ticket price of £30, probably about £850,000," Maguire said.

So, in total, Tamworth missed out on around £875,000 due to the FA's decision to scrap replays, an incredibly vast amount of money. When considering that, in 2023, Halifax chairman David Bosomworth claimed running a National League side cost an average of £150,000 per month, a replay in the FA Cup third round at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium could have paid for nearly half-a-year's worth of expenditure at Tamworth.

It must be noted, however, that if FA Cup replays still existed then there's no guarantee Tamworth would have even made the third round. They drew 1-1 after extra time with League One side Burton Albion in the second round at the Brewers' Pirelli Stadium before winning on penalties to set up their tie with Spurs.

But while the replay would have seen Tamworth host Burton at The Lamb Ground, there's simply no guarantee they would have been able to beat a side two divisions above them in the football pyramid.

Plus, if that game had gone to a replay, it would've have taken place after the third round draw - Tamworth's and Burton's combined ball number would have been different as a result, thus suggesting they wouldn't have drawn Tottenham for the third round anyway.

'Our team were still sitting at a petrol station in Prague until almost 10pm on New Year’s Eve. The negotiations were intense, stretching late into the night': inside Tottenham Hotspur’s pursuit of An

With Guglielmo Vicario adding to their lengthening injury list, Tottenham Hotspur moved quickly to bring in a goalkeeper as soon as the January transfer window opened.

Antonin Kinsky made his debut in Tottenham’s win against Liverpool in the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final this week, keeping a clean sheet in a controversial victory at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Kinsky joined from Slavia Prague and was immediately named in the starting line-up by Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou. It looked a smooth process from the outside but there’s serious work that goes into making big transfers happen, and Kinsky’s agent has revealed how this one got over the line.

Daniel Levy’s personal touch

Kinsky is represented by Viktor Kolar and SPORT INVEST International, who also count Fikayo Tomori and many leading Czech players among their clients. Kolar spoke exclusively to Flashscore to shine a light on the gritty magic of transfer talks with Tottenham.

“Our team was still sitting at a petrol station in Prague until almost 10pm of December 31, because everything was closed on New Year’s Eve and the subsequent development was that on January 1, [Spurs chairman] Daniel Levy flew in himself and the two-day negotiations in Prague began,” Kolar revealed.

“The negotiations were intense, stretching late into the night,” continued Kolar. “But it worked, and I’m happy about that. It was a beautiful test to see if people and organisations this dominant can find their way to each other.”

Tottenham technical director Johan Lange was also involved in talks. The club’s scouts were bullish about Kinsky, so much so that his reported £13.3 million fee is a new record for a Czech goalkeeper.

Spurs were an attractive option for Kinsky and Kolar, and the agent told Flashscore that the club’s plan for his player helped them get the deal done.

“They described and presented to us how well they know Antonin, how his way of playing suits Tottenham’s game, their game model that they want to implement and what Ange Postecoglou is promoting. So we were convinced that this was the right step.”

Flashscore also spoke to Oxford City Stars goaltender Petr Cech, who played 443 times in the Premier League and collected 124 international caps for the Czech Republic.

“I remember the moment when Antonin Kinsky was still played for the national team Under-16s,” said the former Chelsea goalkeeper, at the time the Blues’ technical director.

“You could see that he was strong, with his legs, you could see that he actually had a good starting position and he was actually helping his team at the back to launch attacks.”

Kinsky is in line to make a blockbuster Premier League debut when Spurs visit Arsenal in the North London derby next Wednesday.

Ange Postecoglou explains why Lucas Bergvall CORRECTLY avoided a red card to score vital Carabao Cup goal

Submitted by daniel on

Description

Referee Stuart Attwell made the historic first in-stadium VAR announcement to disallow a Dominic Solanke goal in Tottenham Hotspur’s Carabao Cup semi-final first leg win over Liverpool on Wednesday, but Lucas Bergvall’s late winning goal was the game’s most controversial moment.

Liverpool were on the unfortunate end of a technicality at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Bergvall was on a yellow card when he fouled Kostas Tsimikas with Liverpool on the break at 0-0.

Attwell allowed Liverpool to continue and chose not to return to Bergvall’s challenge to issue a second yellow card and send Bergvall off. The 18-year-old went on to win the match with his first Spurs goal. But should he have been on the pitch to score it?

Why wasn’t Bergvall sent off before scoring against Liverpool?

Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou thinks so and didn’t shrink from explaining why after the game.

“No, he wasn’t [lucky to be on the pitch], because the rule is, and we’ve been told for quite a while now, that if advantage gets played, as long as it’s not a cynical tackle then the yellow card’s not there,” he told Sky Sports.

“We’ve been screaming for it for the last two months. It’s happened to us consistently. Have a look at our games. We’ve asked the officials and they’ve said, ‘If we play advantage, as long as it’s not a cynical tackle, then the yellow card doesn’t get played.’ Now, to me, that was pretty clear.”

The level of cynicism in the tackle and, crucially, whether it qualified as reckless are certainly up for debate but the Reds were left with a three-on-three just outside the Tottenham penalty area as Attwell’s advantage accrued nicely for Arne Slot’s side.

To add injury to insult, Tsimikas was off the pitch having received treatment when Bergvall scored. Liverpool manager Arne Slot knows the rule too and highlighted that the nature of the challenge in question matters as much as the advantage.

“If you stop a counter-attack with a reckless challenge then he could still give his yellow but he didn’t see it as a reckless challenge. Probably that’s the second thing we can debate about,” he said to Sky Sports.

The Laws of the Game 2024/25 covers disciplinary action under Law 12 Section 3, which has a specific section clarifying disciplinary action in cases in which advantage is played.

“If the referee plays the advantage for an offence for which a caution/sending-off would have been issued had play been stopped, this caution/sending-off must be issued when the ball is next out of play,” it reads.

“However, if the offence was denying the opposing team an obvious goal-scoring opportunity the player is cautioned for unsporting behaviour; if the offence was interfering with or stopping a promising attack, the player is not cautioned.”

That’s the clause that backs up Postecoglou’s view but it’s also where things start to get more complicated.

“Advantage should not be applied in situations involving serious foul play, violent conduct or a second cautionable offence unless there is a clear opportunity to score a goal.”

Attwell was correct to play the advantage. Luis Diaz collected the ball from Bergvall’s challenge and Liverpool were away. But the officials interpreted Bergvall’s would-be offence as “interfering with or stopping a promising attack” and subsequently let him off the hook.

Had they deemed the foul to be worth a second caution in its own right, Bergvall would have been dismissed and not on the pitch to score the winning goal.

Watch Tottenham Hotspur vs Liverpool on Wednesday January 8 for what should be an entertaining clash in the first of two legs of their Carabao Cup semi-final. Here, FourFourTwo brings you all the information on how to watch Spurs vs Liverpool online, on TV, and from anywhere with a VPN.

Most games involving Spurs these days tend to be entertaining - not that Spurs fans themselves will be too happy about that. Manager Ange Postecoglou has ensured some thrilling football with a sharp attacking edge, but they have often lost control of games and let points slip through their fingers as a result.

A trophy is highly sought-after for a fanbase who have to put up with the reputation of a club that can play well but can't get things won. Their last piece of silverware was in fact the EFL Cup (which is how the Carabao-sponsored competition is otherwise known), back in 2008.

Liverpool, meanwhile, are not only the defending champions but also the competition's all-time leading title holders, with 10. What's more, unlike Spurs, they've been in flying form this season, even if a draw against Manchester United at the weekend slightly stunted their charge for the Premier League title.

Tottenham vs Liverpool team news

Spurs have two players ruled out through suspension, with James Maddison and Pape Matar Sarr both having picked up two yellow cards in the competition so far. Rodrigo Bentancur returns to the side having served a one-game suspension of his own in the Premier League at the weekend.

Spurs have a number of long-term injuries and will be without Guglielmo Vicario, Ben Davies, Cristian Romero, Destiny Udogie, Micky van de Ven, Richarlison and Wilson Odobert.

Liverpool have fewer players out through injury, but their No.8 Dominik Szoboszlai is a doubt having missed the weekend’s Premier League game through illness. The bigger question is how Arne Slot rotates his squad. He has used various options in the competition so far but with the trophy coming closer into view, he might be tempted to put more of his star men into the starting line-up.

Newcastle and Tottenham 'closely following' star Julian Nagelsmann is particularly impressed by: report

Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur want to sign an emerging star from the SPL who has also caught the attention of Germany manager Julian Nagelsmann this season.

Aged just 25, the Celtic man has 25 goal contributions in 26 games for Brendan Rodgers’ side who are currently 11 points clear at the top of the table. The striker is attracting attention from Julian Nagelsmann with a call-up for Germany even being touted.

But it is attention from the Premier League which has prompted the Celts to be on high alert, as the January window offers a vital opportunity for teams to bolster their squad.

Newcastle and Tottenham keen on Nicholas Kuhn

According to TBR Football, Nicholas Kuhn is being monitored by both Newcastle and Tottenham, with a value of £30m placed on the head of the in-form forward.

Brighton, Brentford and Crystal Palace have also been watching the Celtic man who moved to Scotland in January 2024. The reigning SPL champions want to extend his stay beyond 2029.

Arriving for just £3m for Rapid Vienna, it has been quite the rise for Kuhn who also spent time during his youth career at both Ajax and Bayern Munich.

Nagelsmann has expressed his desire to bring Kuhn into the German set-up, especially given the ageing strike force that surrounds Die Mannschaft at present.

“Kuhn is also a good player with a lot of desire. He’s someone we’re keeping an eye on,” the German boss said back in November.

Spurs have been rocked by injuries over the course of the season so far but it remains to be seen how much wiggle the Lilywhites can muster in the January market. Dominic Solanke was brought in for £65m and Archie Gray for £40m too.

Newcastle are facing an anxious wait over Alexander Isak’s future and with other clubs sniffing around him, the onus is on Eddie Howe’s side to secure European football this season.

In FourFourTwo’s view, Kuhn would perhaps be best off waiting until the summer to assess his options, with there a chance Newcastle could be willing to secure his signature if Isak does move onto pastures new.
