Tottenham Hotspur are out to bounce back from their Europa League defeat at the hands of Galatasaray on Thursday when they host Ipswich Town in North London on Sunday afternoon.

Spurs have a number of injury concerns heading into the game with Ange Postecoglou revealing two further blows in his press conference on Friday. Mikey Moore and Timo Werner both missed the trip to Turkey but no timeline had been put on their potential return. However, they will not appear until after the international break.

In some more positive news for Spurs, Heung-Min Son is back again after playing 55 minutes last weekend and 45 minutes in the Europa League. Speaking about his captain, Postecoglou said: “Yeah like I said, for Sonny where obviously he had the injury, we brought him back, in the first game back he kind of had a relapse and what we don’t want to do is put him back into that cycle. It’s very easy to fall into that cycle by pushing players, particularly when they’re coming back from injury, so we’re managing his minutes and building him up. He got a good 55 at the weekend, he got 45 last night and hopefully we can continue to build that up and ultimately for us it’s about making sure that we get him back and keep him back because we can’t afford any more injuries in that position.”

With Werner and Moore ruled out, Postecoglou is hoping to have Cristian Romero back this weekend but was not certain if the defender would be available. He said: “Last night the brief I got after the game was that everyone came through unscathed so there’s no issues from last night. Cristian (Romero), we’ll see how he goes in the next couple of days, the idea is to try and get him out there and train and he’s pretty keen to, so he has a chance for the weekend. Mikey (Moore) probably is still not right for the weekend, and probably Timo (Werner) as well. Really out of the ones who are out, it's only Cristian who could potentially be back.”

Micky van de Ven will not be back until after the international break while in midweek it was revealed there was a fresh injury blow for Richarlison. The Brazilian came off the bench against Aston Villa but is facing another spell out. The Spurs boss added: “He was doing everything right, we kind of eased him back into playing and tried not to overload him and unfortunately he broke down again. He’s disappointed but ultimately, we’ve just got to keep getting him back in there and working with him to get him back up because he’s an important player.”

Spurs outs: Werner, Moore, Van de Ven, Richarlison. Spurs doubts: Romero.

Ipswich Town injury latest

Ipswich have had a tough start to life back in the Premier League and are missing a number of players for their trip to Tottenham. On-loan Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips is suspended after being controversially sent off against Leicester City last weekend. A number of players have been out with injury in recent weeks, with a handful sidelined long term.

Chiedozie Ogbene had surgery last week on an Achilles tear and is not likely to be back this campaign while Axel Tuanzebe is a doubt with a wrist injury. Jack Taylor is out until at least after the international break while Jacob Greaves and Janoi Donacien remain doubts.
