Tottenham Hotspur are facing a significant decision regarding Richarlison’s future, with the Brazilian forward increasingly expected to leave this summer.

Despite being under contract until 2027, Richarlison’s time in North London has been under constant speculation, and his role in the squad appears uncertain.

Reports indicate that Spurs may have to accept a considerable financial loss if they decide to move him on.

Bryan King accuses Richarlison’s agent

Former Tottenham scout Bryan King has suggested that the club will struggle to recoup anything close to the £60 million they paid Everton for Richarlison in 2022.

He believes that Spurs may only be able to fetch between £5-10 million for the forward, as few clubs would be willing to meet a higher valuation.

Speaking to Tottenham News, King said:

“I’d be quite pleased to see him moved on and new players brought in.

“I think any money that they could get for Richarlison would be welcomed. They brought him for a lot of money, they’re going to lose money on him, that is for sure.

“I can’t see Tottenham getting much more than a figure of £5/10million. Who is going to pay big money for him? They should’ve cut their losses before, for me it has been poor business. For all those clubs who were supposedly interested in the summer, nobody stepped in and brought him.

“Therefore, I think that was his agent at work.”

Since arriving at Tottenham, Richarlison’s stint has been hampered by inconsistency and recurring injuries. His first season saw him struggle to make an impact, scoring just once in the Premier League while missing large spells due to fitness concerns.

The 2023-24 campaign initially looked promising, particularly after the departure of Harry Kane, which seemingly opened up an opportunity for him to step up.

However, his struggles continued, as he endured a prolonged goal drought early in the season.

Following this difficult period, Richarlison spoke openly about his personal challenges before briefly rediscovering form, netting nine goals in eight league matches between December 2023 and February 2024.

Unfortunately, his resurgence was short-lived, as injury troubles resurfaced. He has missed 34 matches across all competitions this season, managing only 14 appearances while contributing three goals and one assist.

With Tottenham reinforcing their attacking options by bringing in Mathys Tel on loan—with an option to buy—and signing Dominic Solanke last summer, Richarlison’s place in the squad appears increasingly redundant.

If Spurs ultimately decide to offload him, they are likely to suffer a heavy financial setback, marking a disappointing conclusion to what was once seen as a promising transfer.
