Tottenham Hotspur’s deadline day is now expected to rely on any late opportunities which may arise, when it comes to arrivals.
Ange Postecoglou may not be expecting a busy end to what has been a steady summer market with five signings confirmed.
Of course, two of those signings have to be caveated with Timo Werner being retained on loan and Yang Min-hyeok not arriving until January.
However, it could be a busy deadline day for Tottenham with players set to depart the club.
That has been the story of the transfer window at Hotspur Way with 14 players having left the club through a variety of means.
But there could be scope for one late arrival with the agent of one Tottenham target still working hard to earn his client a move.
Tottenham could land defender on deadline day
Going into the final hours, Tottenham could still do with another centre-back who would be capable of playing at left-back.
One long-term Tottenham target who is available is Bayer Leverkusen’s Jonathan Tah, but he could well land at Bayern Munich.
However, an opportunity from inside the Premier League could potentially present itself as the clock ticks down on the summer window.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the agents of Chelsea defender Trevor Chalobah are still trying to find him a new club before the deadline on Friday night.
“Chelsea are still trying to find a solution for Trevoh Chalobah, and his agents too. It’s an open story ahead of the final 48 hours,” he said in his Daily Briefing.
“There’s no lack of suitors but Chelsea have been asking for a permanent move for £30m and it’s difficult for many clubs to invest this kind of money.”
Trevor Chalobah could offer Tottenham late opportunity
Tottenham have been strongly linked with a potential move for Chalobah this summer as his future looks to be away from Chelsea.
Ideally, Tottenham could do with a centre-back capable of playing at left-back due to the lack of backup behind Destiny Udogie.
Chalobah does not have experience at playing on the left side of the defence but he does at right-back.
