Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou has around five players out injured ahead of next weekend's game against Manchester City. The Lilywhites will be looking for a response after a surprising 2-1 defeat to Ipswich in the Premier League, which came just after the final international break of the season.
Richarlison is a major doubt for the Manchester City game after picking up an injury while coming off the bench in Tottenham's match against Aston Villa. Timo Werner has also been sidelined for a while due to injury, leaving the Spurs boss short of attacking options.
Micky Moore is unwell, but there is a good chance he could recover in time for the match if Postecoglou decides to call on him. However, the biggest loss is undoubtedly the electric Micky van de Ven, who was one of the best performers for the Australian manager last season. Van de Ven sustained a hamstring injury and is now racing against time to be fit for the crucial trip to the Etihad next weekend. In his absence, Postecoglou will likely have to choose between Radu Drăgușin, who struggled in the loss to Ipswich, or the experienced Ben Davies, with the latter possibly being deployed in a back three.
Spurs will be hoping for a positive result in a game that is shaping up to be a massive test, especially since City are also struggling, having failed to win in their last four matches across all competitions.
Latest injury blow:
In what will undoubtedly be another setback for Postecoglou, Spurs have confirmed that £30 million summer signing Wilson Odobert has undergone surgery on his right hamstring. The club did not specify when he would return. A club statement, released on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), read: "We can confirm that Wilson Odobert underwent surgery on his right hamstring yesterday (Saturday, November 16). The 19-year-old will continue to be closely monitored by our medical team to determine when he can return to training."
Injuries always present a puzzle for managers, and how they adapt to these challenges often plays a crucial role in determining their team's performance.
