Antonin Kinsky must be itching to make his first start for Tottenham Hotspur as soon as possible and there would be no better test than to play against Liverpool in the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final.
Kinsky is prepared to face Liverpool, who are currently the best team in the Premier League.
Johan Lange scouted Kinsky at Aston Villa, which goes to show how longstanding his interest has been in Spurs’ latest signing.
Antonin Kinsky has the chance to establish himself as Tottenham’s number one this season itself, if he proves to be a superior goalkeeper to the injured Guglielmo Vicario.
Ange Postecoglou says Antonin Kinsky could start for Tottenham vs Liverpool
Ahead of the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final, Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou revealed that while Kinsky could start against Liverpool, he is yet to have made a final decision.
Postecoglou told Football.London journalist Alasdair Gold: “We will see. He arrived on Sunday I think. He has had a couple of days of training. He is registered and eligible to play.”
“We still have got to do a couple final things with him and then we will see.”
Kinsky is proud to be at Tottenham, who he states is one of the biggest clubs in the world and if he does play against Arne Slot’s side, how the youngster performs could highlight both his quality and desire.
Dejan Kulusevski praised Brandon Austin, who impressed in the Lilywhites’ latest 2-1 loss against Newcastle United.
It was reported by The Athletic journalist Jay Harris that despite Fraser Forster’s return to training from illness, it looks like Postecoglou has decided to either start Kinsky or Austin against Liverpool.
Ange Postecoglou says Spurs new-boy Antonin Kinsky has “real quality”
Ange Postecoglou has concerns about Fraser Forster, particularly when it comes to his distribution as the former Celtic tactician prioritises goalkeepers who are comfortable in possession in his side.
Postecoglou went on to detail during his press conference that Tottenham tracked Kinsky throughout the ongoing season, with the initial intention being to sign him in the summer of 2025.
“He is one that we had earmarked for the end of the season to bring in during the summer. We’ve tracked him all season and he is definitely someone we are really excited about. Obviously, with our current goalkeeping situation, we explored the possibility of bringing him in this January.”
The Spurs manager went on to hail Kinsky’s quality, stressing that signing him was not the easiest task due to how well he was playing for Slavia Prague.
“It wasn’t easy because he is doing very well for his club, his club is doing well, they are in Europe and top of their league. The club worked really hard to get the deal done in this window and it is a huge benefit to us and adds real quality to our goalkeepers.”
