Ange Postecoglou says Tottenham are "working hard" to sign players in January after a setback to Ben Davies could leave his side without any fit centre-backs.

Spurs lost their fourth match in their last five Premier League ties, losing 1-0 to Nottingham Forest on Boxing Day, with Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven and Davies all injured.

Speaking at a press conference on Friday, Postecoglou said the club were looking to identify players to sign in the upcoming January transfer window.

"So we've got to sort of clear a picture of kind of where we're at," he explained. "And I still think we have to be disciplined. It's not just about bringing anybody in. But there's certainly a need for us to try and reinforce if we can.

"Everyone knows January's not an easy time to do that. But, yeah, certainly the club's working hard behind the scenes, to see what we can do to just help the players we've got at the moment who are giving everything in every game, and, you know, sort of dipping into every bit of energy they have to try and get us through.

"I just think we need to help some of these guys because, you know, there's at least two or three who are fairly long-term injuries. So you kind of know you're going to be short there. Others who are coming back from significant injuries - you don't know how long they'll take to get up to speed.

"So, like I said, we need some reinforcements and the club's certainly working hard to try and make that happen. And, you know, we'll see where we get to."

Welsh defender Davies, who plays as a left-back and also as a central defender, has been out since December 5 with a hamstring problem, but has suffered a setback in his recovery.

Postecoglou told the press that while they had hoped to have him back soon, he would likely be absent for another fortnight, saying: "No, he is ruled out. Unfortunately, he had a setback in training, so he'll probably be out for a couple of weeks."

Romanian defender Radu Dragusin was taken off against Forest with an ankle injury, and the Australian coach was unable to shed light on his status.

"A bit early to tell," Postecoglou said.

"He obviously tweaked his ankle last night and felt he couldn't continue. We'll have to wait and see."

Full-back Djed Spence will be suspended for the tie against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday, meaning midfielders Archie Gray and Yves Bissouma could be starting in central defence.

"There's always been issues at different times but not to this extent," Postecoglou observed.

"I think we've had close to pretty consistently 10 first-team players not available for a significant run of games.

"We've been kind of getting through it for quite a while and keeping our fingers crossed we don't get any more issues, but the nature of football and fixture scheduling we've had, we've always been on a fine line of being able to get through.

"It's another test for us, but it is what it is, and whatever we need to deal with, we'll deal with and get ready for Sunday."
