Antonin Kinsky could be thrown straight into the deep end at Tottenham Hotspur by making his debut against Liverpool in the Carabao Cup semi-final.
Spurs completed a £12.5 million deal to sign Kinsky from Slavia Prague as they secured a replacement for Fraser Forster. The Lilywhites were keen to sign another shot-stopper with Guglielmo Vicario sidelined until the end of February.
Ange Postecoglou now has a new goalkeeper and he could hand the 21-year-old his debut the North London club’s biggest game of the season so far.
Antonin Kinsky ready to make his Tottenham debut vs Liverpool
Antonin Kinsky has revealed that he is ready to make his Tottenham debut in the Carabao Cup semi-final against Liverpool on December 8 if called upon by Postecoglou.
Spurs host Liverpool in the first leg on Wednesday and Kinsky could be called straight into action with Fraser Forster a doubt for the match due to illness. Brandon Austin is another option having been named Man of the Match on his debut for the club.
Kinsky told Infotbal: “I haven’t even unpacked my bag yet, but I’m thinking about every upcoming match. I’ll prepare myself so that I’m ready. And if the coach decides to call me, I’ll be ready. I feel great. I’m calm in my head. I want to continue where I left off calmly.”
The goalkeeper had his first session at Hotspur Way on December 5 with goalkeeping coach Rob Burch and over the next two days, he is expected to train with his new teammates.
“I had my first one with the goalkeeper coach on Sunday morning. Then I should join the team. I will try to adapt as quickly as possible,” added Kinsky.
Antonin Kinsky reveals his favourite Tottenham player
Kinsky has admitted that former Tottenham captain Hugo Lloris is a player he idolised having grown up watching him play in the Champions League.
The Czech Republic youth international claims it is an honour to now follow in Lloris’ footsteps by playing in goal for the North London club.
Kinsky said: “I consider Tottenham to be a top European club. I remember how I devoured their matches in the Champions League. Especially since I liked the style of Hugo Lloris, who played here for a long time. So it is a huge honour for me and I appreciate it. I am proud of it.”
