Angel Gomes, who Tottenham Hotspur are keen on, has now reportedly told Lille that he plans to leave in 2025. By the sounds of it, the race for his signature could be heating up too.
Tottenham’s ideal midfield target
A number of outlets over recent months have reported that Tottenham are keen on bolstering their midfield and that they have set their sights on Lille’s Angel Gomes, who they allegedly view as the ‘ideal’ option.
The latest outlet to make that claim was GiveMeSport, who revealed a few days ago that Spurs are desperate to move ahead of the competition to land the England international.
The outlet explained that the Lilywhites are even prepared to make an offer to Lille in January rather than wait until the end of the season until the player’s contract runs out.
Angel Gomes reveals transfer wish to Lille
TBR Football now also back up Tottenham’s interest in Gomes and they reveal that the midfielder has now informed Lille of his future plans.
The 24-year-old has reportedly confirmed to the Ligue 1 club over the last few weeks that he will be leaving the club in 2025 to seek a new challenge.
However, the report says that the French side do not expect their star man to exit the club in the January window. The report adds that apart from Spurs, Gomes is also on the radars of both Manchester United and Aston Villa.

Will Tottenham test Lille’s resolve?
One would think that Lille would ideally want to sell Gomes in January rather than lose him on a free at the end of the season.
However, the decision will ultimately rest with the player, who might prefer to leave as a free agent as that would afford him more options and also help land him a higher salary.
One would expect Spurs to reach out to Gomes’ entourage to explore the possibility of a January switch to N17.
