Tottenham lost 4-1 on aggregate to Liverpool in the Carabao Cup semi-final second leg on Thursday night and here are our Spurs player ratings.

Ange Postecoglou handed a Spurs debut to new centre-back Kevin Danso, who joined from Lens at the weekend, with 19-year-old attacker Mathys Tel in the bench after his deadline day move from Bayern Munich. Danso started alongside Ben Davies with Archie Gray at right-back and Djed Spence on the left, with Pedro Porro on the bench with Tel.

Liverpool scored just after the half-hour mark when a Mohamed Salah cross made it all the way to the back post where the unmarked Cody Gakpo half-volleyed it in.

The hosts were given a penalty early in the second half when Antonin Kinsky brought down Darwin Nunez in the box and Salah stroked home the resulting spot kick. A third goal came on 75 minutes when Liverpool found space through the middle and a swift move ended with Dominik Szoboszlai slotting home. It became 4-0 when Virgil van Dijk headed in from a corner.

Here are our Tottenham player ratings after the match:

Antonin Kinsky

Couldn't get to Gakpo's low half-volley half an hour or so in. Made a good save from Salah's bouncing shot at the end of the first half. Mistimed his challenge on Nunez to give away a penalty and then dived the wrong way for Salah's spot kick. Made one save on his line but couldn't get to either of the next two Liverpool goals. 4

Archie Gray

Drifted inside and left Gakpo unmarked to score in the first half. The 18-year-old played at right-back, left-back and then centre-back on the night which sums up Spurs' problems. 5

Kevin Danso

One of the few to come out of the game with credit and he showed he's going to be a good player for Spurs. Liked to get forward with the ball as well. 7

Ben Davies

Took an early blow to the head after colliding with Kinsky and needed to have blood stemmed from the top of his head. Lost Van Dijk for the fourth goal before coming off. 4

Djed Spence

Looked the most fearless for Spurs and was switched to the right wing in the second half before coming back to left-back late on. 6

Rodrigo Bentancur

Battled away but was fighting a bit of a lone battle in the centre of the pitch. 5

Yves Bissouma

Gave the ball away as Spurs broke in the build-up to Gakpo's first half strike. Spurs needed him as an experienced head and he never really looked comfortable. 3

Pape Matar Sarr

Tried to bring some energy to the midfield but was often lacking in quality. 4

Dejan Kulusevski

Looked shattered in the first half, could barely control the ball, and tried to find some energy in the second half but to no avail. 5

Richarlison

Didn't make it to half-time before going off with an injury. 4

Son Heung-min

Didn't see enough of the ball during the game. Did hit the crossbar with a shot from a tight angle late in the second half and curled another effort over in added time. 5

Subs

Mathys Tel

Replaced Richarlison in the first half but hasn't got the physique to play in a similar hold-up role. A tough way to come in for his debut. Showed plenty of energy and he'll have better days. 5

Lucas Bergvall

Shored up the midfield a little but the damage was done. 5

Pedro Porro

Didn't add much to the game. 4

Mikey Moore

Came on for Davies for the final minutes and showed a couple of nice touches. N/A
