Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham have the opportunity to bring in some new players before the end of the January transfer window. The latter have recently turned to Graham Potter as their manager and he saw his side beat Fulham 3-2 last time out.
The trio all have the chance to sell or loan out some individuals too over the coming weeks. That would help free up some space and funds in their ranks to pave the way for new arrivals.
Chelsea, Spurs and West Ham eye Marcus Rashford
Chelsea, Spurs and West Ham have all shown ‘interest’ in a loan deal for Manchester United winger Marcus Rashford, according to the Daily Star. However, the report suggests that the Red Devils are ‘not willing’ to let him join a Premier League rivals which may open the door for the player to move abroad.
Speaking after their FA Cup win away at Arsenal, United boss Ruben Amorim shared this update on the forward’s future when asked whether he would ever play for him again: “I don’t know. We will see. He’s a player for Manchester United, we will see, he has to work, he has to represent his club, and he loves this club but I have to make choices. I already spoke about how I make choices. Let’s continue, let’s see the next game and I have to make a selection.”
Rashford has been on the books at Old Trafford for his whole career to date and rose up through their academy ranks. The Wythenshawe-born man was a regular at various youth levels before breaking into the first-team. He recently himself said: “For me, personally, I think I'm ready for a new challenge and the next steps. I've seen how other players have left in the past and I don't want to be that person. When I leave I'll make a statement and it will be from me.
He added: "It's disheartening to be left out of a derby but it's happened, we won the game so let's move on. It's disappointing but I'm also someone as I've got older I can deal with setbacks. What am I going to do about it? Sit there and cry about it. Or do my best the next time I'm available."
What next for Chelsea, Spurs and West Ham?
It appears Rashford won’t be allowed to join Chelsea, Spurs or West Ham this winter. That means that the three teams will need to look elsewhere for targets before the deadline.
The 27-year-old, who is an England international with 60 caps, has made 426 appearances for United so far. He has scored 138 goals, seven of which have come in this campaign.
Enzo Maresca’s side drew 2-2 at home to AFC Bournemouth in their last game with Cole Palmer and Reece James on the scoresheet. West Ham beat Fulham in Graham Potter’s first home outing at the London Stadium, whilst Spurs were beaten 2-1 away by bitter rivals Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.
