The winger had been courted by several Premier League clubs but has elected to move to Germany.

Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur have been beaten in the transfer race for Club Brugge forward Antonio Nusa by German giants RB Leipzig.

The Bundesliga outfit has confirmed the signing of the 19-year-old on a five-year deal. Nusa will wear the number seven shirt for the club, who forked out an impressive £18 million for the player, according to transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano.

Nusa said: “I’m just incredibly proud to be at RB Leipzig and in the Bundesliga now. The club has shown me a clear vision and a clear path, which has totally convinced me. “It’s obviously a big step for me — but I’m ready for it. RB Leipzig has developed into one of the top clubs in Europe and is also one of the top clubs for young players.

“When I played here with Bruges in 2021, I was very impressed by the training centre and the academy, and of course, I also saw the stadium. It’s simply an amazing feeling to be able to play there in front of over 45,000 fans in just a few days.”

That transfer confirmation will come as a blow to London clubs Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur. The Athletic reports that both the Premier League sides had 'held talks' over signing Nusa, who had become a hot target this summer.

The winger, who is already a Norway international, endured an injury-riddled season last time out but still managed three goals and three assists in just over 1,000 minutes of Juliper Pro League action. International teammate and Arsenal star Martin Odegaard hailed the player as 'dangerous' as he broke into the senior national team last year.

Brentford had agreed to a £31.5 million deal with Brugge for the player in January only to see that transfer fall at the final hurdle due to complications.
