Dejan Kulusevski appears intent on making up for lost time once he returns to the pitch for Tottenham. Last featuring for the north London club in the 1-0 defeat against Manchester City at the end of February, the Swede has had to watch on from the stands in the past four games due to a foot injury.
During that period, Tottenham have only mustered one win and that came in the 3-1 Europa League victory over AZ Alkmaar. Kulusevski did miss the first leg of their European tie in the Netherlands, with the player also absent for the recent Premier League outings against Bournemouth and Fulham.
A potential return date for the 24-year-old should hopefully become clear over the next couple of days as Ange Postecoglou will be speaking to the media ahead of Thursday's Premier League clash against Chelsea. Speaking almost one month ago, the head coach revealed that Kulusevski was not sure when he actually sustained the injury and that he was unlikely to be back before March's international break.
The influential Tottenham player has had a fortnight during the break in play to help his recovery and the hope will be that he can feature again sooner rather than later. Kulusevski did not appear to be present in the club's training footage that was released on Friday, though.
Amid question marks over his comeback, the Stockholm-born player teased an upcoming return with a post on his Instagram account on Saturday. He wrote: "Coming to a show near u DK tha truth 2.0."
Such a pivotal figure for Tottenham in 2024/25 and undoubtedly the clear favourite to win the club's player of the season gong at the end of the campaign, Kulusevski has suggested he is ready to return and set to come back better than ever. Postecoglou and Spurs will be very much hoping that is the case as he has been key for the team in the final third since August.
The player has so far posted ten goals and ten assists in 42 games in all competitions this season, which is in fact the first time that he has managed double figures for goals and assists in the same campaign for the club. Whether starting in his preferred central role or from the right flank, Kulusevski has been a real driving force for the team and he was dearly missed in the four games he was absent for.
There is a real lack of creativity when Kulusevski is not in the Tottenham team and his absence has been felt dearly over the past month. It will be a huge boost for Postecoglou and the team once he is back, especially with the club targeting a strong end to the Premier League season as well as Europa League glory.
Kulusevski will be doing all he can to drag Tottenham kicking and screaming to a Europa League triumph and he is going to be pivotal in their quest to lift the trophy in Bilbao come May. It's time for 'DK tha truth 2.0'.
