Everton did add to their midfielder over the January transfer window with the arrival of Carlos Alcaraz.

The Friedkins were keen to sign a new midfielder for Everton and they were able to secure the loan signing of the Argentine.

However, his future is not tied down on Merseyside with the Flamengo midfielder still needing to earn himself a permanent stay at Goodison Park.

Ahead of the summer, Everton have some interesting decisions to make.

Everton would like to sign Idrissa Gana Gueye to a new contract, with the 32-year-old’s current deal set to expire at the end of the term.

With plans surely being put in place by Kevin Thelwell ahead of the summer market, there is a potential opportunity opening to sign an interesting Premier League midfielder.

Everton could make a move for Tottenham’s Yves Bissouma

Abdoulaye Doucoure is also out of contract this summer with the Toffees expected to require some additions in the market.

There could be an opportunity set to emerge inside the Premier League with Tottenham Hotspur looking to move Yves Bissouma on.

According to GiveMeSport, the Lilywhites are looking at the Mali midfielder as a potential departure this summer.

The summer will be the final opportunity for Spurs to attract a fee from inside the Premier League for Bissouma who is out of contract next year.

Although the 28-year-old has endured some recent struggles, he is a player who has shone in the Premier League previously.

Clearly, Bissouma is a midfielder better suited to the deeper role, which may suggest he could be a replacement for Orel Mangala.

Mangala is sidelined for the season through injury and there may now be questions as to whether Everton will seek a permanent deal.

Everton will know what they would get from Bissouma, who already has 183 appearances in the Premier League to his name.

Yves Bissouma thinks he’s the Premier League’s best midfielder

Ange Postecoglou has had some off-field issues with the midfielder which cost him any involvement in the opening game of the season.

Typically, one of those two goals did come against Everton earlier in the season.

But Bissouma is a confident player, and he has not shied away in the past from bigging himself up in the media.

“I don’t want to be arrogant, the Premier League has many good midfielders, but, for me, it is me,” Bissouma told BBC Sport back in 2021 when asked who was the best midfielder in the league.

Spurs only paid £25m for Bissouma from Brighton & Hove Albion and with one year remaining on his deal, he could prove a real bargain if Everton were to take a chance on him.
