Harry Kane has been ruled out of Bayern Munich’s pre-season game against Tottenham Hotspur on August 3 in South Korea. The Englishman left Spurs for the German giants last summer, but despite scoring 44 goals in all competitions, Bayern failed to lift a trophy. Kane scored three times as England reached the Euro 2024 final before losing 2-1 to Spain.

Vincent Kompany has confirmed that Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane will miss the pre-season game against his former club Tottenham Hotspur on August 3 in South Korea.

Kane enjoyed a successful first season individually in Germany, scoring 44 goals in all competitions, although Bayern were beaten to the Bundesliga title by Bayer Leverkusen.

The 30-year-old scored three goals to help England reach the final of Euro 2024 where they were beaten by Spain but was largely ineffective throughout the tournament in Germany.

He picked up a back injury in the build-up, while it was widely accepted that his style didn’t suit Gareth Southgate’s preferred way of playing.

Bayern will look to bounce back from a disappointing campaign under new manager Kompany following the departure of Thomas Tuchel.

They continue their pre-season preparation with a game against German side Duren before travelling to South Korea to take on Spurs.

The two sides will meet again a week later on August 10 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, but Kompany hinted a return for the game against SSV Ulm in the first round of DFB Cup on August 16 is more likely.

“Harry Kane, Alphonso Davies, Dayot Upamecano and Kingsley Coman won’t be there, but then hopefully for the first cup game,” Kompany said at a news conference.

Kane left Spurs as the club’s record goal-scorer, having found the net 280 times in all competitions.

He opted to depart in an effort to win trophies before hanging up his boots, but Bayern failed to land any silverware in an underwhelming 2023/24 season.
