This summer transfer window, Olympique Lyonnais star Rayan Cherki has attracted interest from major European clubs, including Paris Saint-Germain, Liverpool, and Tottenham Hotspur. However, Borussia Dortmund surfaced as the winner of the race, but that might not be the case.
According to reports from L’Équipe earlier this month, Cherki was expected to sign with Dortmund. Additionally, the 20-year-old turned down PSG at the last minute, which the club didn’t take kindly to and blamed on the player’s representatives.
The French media also mentions that PSG put in an initial bid of €15 million with an extra €3 million in bonuses. However, Lyon turned down the offer, insisting on a substantial sell-on clause as part of any deal.
Despite reportedly being keen on Dortmund, journalist Patrick Berger reports that the transfer of Cherki to Dortmund is stalling. The discussions are at a standstill, and manager Nuri Sahin is not entirely convinced by the Frenchman’s arrival.

Cherki’s contract expires next year, and if he isn’t keen on renewing it, OL will need to sell the player now. If a move to Dortmund doesn’t happen, could PSG, Liverpool, or Spurs revisit this file? The youngster also made 39 appearances, scoring three goals and registering nine assists for Lyon.
