Martinez injury blow
Aston Villa goalkeeper Emi Martinez suffered a hairline fracture in his hand during the defeat against Chelsea.
Unai Emery's side lost 3-0 and saw their Argentina shot-stopper forced off at half-time after picking up the knock to his hand.
"He has a fissure (hairline fracture) in his hand (finger), we are going to train this afternoon and I don’t know how he is going to feel," the Villa manager said ahead of the game this evening.
"It depends on the training today. He could be in for tomorrow or not."
Wide open
Sky Sports' Patrick Rowe:
"A game which is wide open for either side to take advantage of. Villa are a team low in confidence and form heading into this one and won't want that win-less streak to stretch to nine games.
"Meanwhile, Brentford's away record - with just one point coming on the road - has stagnated their progress throughout the season so far.
"So, will Villa climb out of their rut or will the Bees secure a rare win away from home? Something has got to give!"
Frank: Brentford fans can dream of targets
Thomas Frank insists he will leave the fans to do the dreaming as expectations rise over Brentford's strong start to the season.
Brentford are just three points below the Premier League's top four thanks to their stunning home form which has produced six wins and a draw in seven matches.
On the road they have struggled, losing five out of six ahead of Wednesday night's visit to Aston Villa, and history has taught Frank to be wary of getting carried away.
"I'm the optimistic guy, always very positive," said Frank, who confirmed that Mathias Jensen will miss the trip to the Midlands because of a minor hamstring injury.
"But I have a few good guys in my coaching team in Claus Norgaard and Kevin O'Connor, who are a little bit more levelled, let's put it that way.
"It's very important for the fans to dream. And of course me and the players always need to dream, but we need to focus on the next game and what's just ahead of us because so many things can change.
"In our third year in the Premier League (last season) we had 16 points after 11 games, which was the same amount of points we had the year before, but everything fell apart with injuries and all that.
"So that was a good example of dream but don't get too far ahead of yourself. Focus, stay in the moment and enjoy it."

Welcome!
Hello and welcome to Sky Sports' digital coverage of Aston Villa vs Brentford...
Unai Emery is currently enduring his longest run without a win since arriving at the club and if he fails to secure three points tonight, it will become the longest drought throughout his managerial career.
Meanwhile, Thomas Frank's Brentford side are looking to address their poor form away from home having secured just one of their 20 points on the road.

Emery hopes Villa strikers can put them back on track
Aston Villa boss Unai Emery is hoping his side's goalscorers can get them back on track.
Villa have not won in eight games, going back to October 22, and Sunday's 3-0 defeat at Chelsea left them in the bottom half of the Premier League table.
The goals have dried up as Ollie Watkins has bagged just once in those eight games, while Jhon Duran has not found the net for six games.
Emery wants his frontmen to regain their form, starting with Wednesday night's visit of Brentford.
"Sometimes we can score easy, sometimes we are not scoring easy," he said at his pre-match press conference.
"They are points in the way, but of course, when we are creating chances with the players we have, usually they are scoring goals. I am confident, even when they are not being clinical.
"Hopefully, (Wednesday) is a good challenge and a good day to recover scoring or playing well, trying to impose and dominate against the opponent. Stop them better than the last matches we did, maybe.
"This is my work. The solution is [to] try, through our work, to correct things, and try to recover after our work, confidence, playing, dominating, being successful, each one, with their qualities, and then of course at the end, winning.
"We are not thinking to win, we are thinking the process to win."
