Mathys Tel's agent, Gadiri Camara, has posted online from a plane that is thought to be flying his client to England ahead of a proposed move to Tottenham. The 19-year-old is set to move to the club on loan after a remarkable change of circumstances.
Spurs had agreed a deal with Bayern Munich over the purchase of Tel only for him to turn Ange Postecoglou's side down. Now, in a late deadline day twist, he will be joining for the remainder of the season.
Writing online via his Instagram story, Camara posted an image with Tel in the background as he sits on a private jet. The caption, "Allahuma Barik", translates to 'May Allah bless you.'
Tel will join Tottenham along with Kevin Danso after he was confirmed as arriving on a loan with an obligation to buy over the summer. The structure of this deal with Bayern is yet to be finalised but it is not expected to be a permanent one.
Bayern had been discussing Tel's future with Chelsea, Arsenal, and Manchester United in the past two weeks. He had initially decided to remain in Bavaria but took the plunge to push for a move after being left as an unused substitute by Vincent Kompany in three successive games.
That left Spurs to negotiate a transfer, with Daniel Levy flying out to Germany for talks. After agreeing a £51million deal, Tel turned down the chance to move.
Between Tel, Bayern, and the other interested parties, a club-to-club understanding was never reached. That left Tel in limbo ahead of the final four months of the season.
Tottenham have taken the chance on the versatile attacker, who is capable of playing both on the left wing and as a centre forward. He will bolster Postecoglou's options during a period of fitness issues across the squad.
