Paul Robinson believes that one Tottenham star’s agent has been feeding stories to the press about transfer interest in his client.
Tottenham defender continues to be linked with a move
Radu Dragusin has had to be patient since arriving at Tottenham at the start of the year, but the Romanian is now getting his rewards, featuring regularly for the side in Micky van de Ven‘s injury absence.
However, noises continue to emanate from Italy linking the centre-back with a swift return to Serie A.
Reports over recent weeks have credited Juventus, Inter Milan and Napoli with interest in Dragusin ahead of the January window.
Paul Robinson points fingers at Radu Dragusin’s agent
Robinson has accused Dragusin’s entourage of feeding these transfer stories to various outlets.
The former Spurs goalkeeper insisted that Ange Postecoglou‘s men will not let the Romania international leave the club in January under any circumstances.
When asked about the speculation over Dragusin’s future, the pundit told Tottenham News: “Agents do that, players do that. They can get noises out there via various means, and now with the number of media outlets, it only takes one story for you to plant an acorn and soon you’ve got an oak tree.
MORE SPURS STORIES
“I don’t think Tottenham do any deals for Dragusin in January, loan or permanent. He’s only just signed and Spurs fans haven’t seen the best of him yet. He will get a run of games with Romero and van de Ven’s injury and disciplinary records. He’ll be frustrated with the lack of game time but there is no way that Spurs will let him go in January.”
What Radu Dragusin’s agent has said in the past
The Tottenham man’s agent, Florian Manea, has unequivocally dismissed suggestions that his client could leave the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in January.
Manea told TuttoJuve about the rumours two weeks ago: “I learn about it from the Italian newspapers, I honestly don’t know anything about it (transfer rumours.)
“With Juventus As far as I’m concerned, there have been no contacts. As always, the final say in these cases will be up to the club he belongs to, but the boy is happy here at Tottenham.”
Manea was equally dismissive of the transfer rumours last month, insisting that he has not spoken to anyone about a potential transfer.
He said at the time (via Calcio Napoli 24): “I haven’t spoken to anyone, and I don’t think Tottenham want to let him go. Radu is focused and wants to play his chances with Spurs. I’ve seen the news too, but – I repeat – I haven’t heard from anyone.
“We like that many teams are following him, but I also told the others who called me that – to date – we are not interested. No player is happy if he doesn’t play a lot, but he wants to fight for his place. We’ll see later how many games he plays, and we’ll evaluate, at this moment it’s premature to think about a transfer.”
