Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur is facing a potential ban following a violent altercation with Colombian supporters after Uruguay’s Copa America semi-final defeat.
The clash occurred at Bank of America Stadium in North Carolina, where Uruguay lost 1-0 to Colombia.
Bentancur, who was injured and had to leave the game after half an hour, was involved in the post-match incident.
The altercation saw several Uruguay players, including Bentancur and Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez, confront spectators.
This happened after a number of Colombian fans, presumably drunk, allegedly attacked the section where the families of the Uruguayan players were seated.
In a bid to protect them, several players jumped over the fence and confronted the fans which resulted in a violent brawl. Footage reportedly shows Bentancur throwing a bottle into the crowd.

The Press Association as reported by Football London suggests those involved could face disciplinary action and potential bans.
The midfielder also suffered an injury mid-game which left him in tears. The extent of the injury is not known as yet and it remains to be seen whether it will impact his return with the club as they prepare for the pre-seaosn.
