City in crisis
Pep Guardiola has revealed the extent of Manchester City's injury crisis, after picking up three more issues last night.
Savinho was stretchered off against Tottenham in the Carabao Cup while Manuel Akanji and Ruben Dias seemed to pick up knocks.
If they are to miss out, they will join Kevin De Bruyne, Kyle Walker, Jack Grealish, Jeremy Doku, Oscar Bobb and Rodri on the sidelines.
And it leaves Man City with an extremely depleted squad...
"We have 13 players, we are in real difficulties," Guardiola said after their 2-1 loss to Tottenham last night.
"The guys that play, they finish most of them with problems and we'll see how they recover.
"I think we are in trouble, because in nine years we've never been in the situation with so many injuries.
"The players make a step forward, more together than ever, and we will try to do this week in this short time of recovery."
He added: "If these guys don't come back as quickly as possible, we'll struggle, because we cannot sustain with just 14, 15 players for the season.
"We need the players to come back."
'The plan'
Manchester City manager has revealed that he never had any intention of involving Erling Haaland this evening.
The Norwegian was named on the bench for the Citizens' 2-1 defeat to Tottenham in the Carabao Cup, and he remained there for the full game.
Instead, Guardiola turned to other options, and speaking after the match, he revealed that Haaland was never going to play.
He said: "The plan was for him to not play today.
"He's played a lot of minutes, and I didn't want to waste energy for him."
Meanwhile, Savinho was stretchered off, and Guardiola was also asked about him.
"We'll see tomorrow."
"Jack Grealish and Kyle Walker also have no chances of playing in the next games."
What an evening of Carabao Cup action, and the 7:45 games are all now over.
Aston Villa are out.
They've lost 2-1 at home to Crystal Palace, who opened the scoring through Eberechi Eze before he went off injured.
Luckily, his replacement, Daichi Kamada, came off the bench to drill a low shot into the bottom corner to seal the big win for Oliver Glasner's men.
The post-Erik ten Hag era at Manchester United started with a 5-2 battering of Leicester City.
The Red Devils were 4-2 up at half time thanks to goals from Casemiro, Bruno Fernandes and Alejandro Garnacho.
The second half was somehwhat a disappointment with just one goal from Fernandes.
Meanwhile, Newcastle United beat Chelsea 2-0 at St James' Park.
Given the Magpies are winless since September in the league, it was a huge win for Eddie Howe's men, who are into the last eight.
Arsenal proved to be far too good for Preston, as they ran out 3-0 winners at Deepdale.
