Richarlison has fired back at Harvey Elliott’s ‘30’ gesture by roasting him on social media. This comes after Liverpool clinched their second Premier League title in five years with a dominant 5-1 win over Tottenham on Sunday afternoon. The former Everton striker, who has long had a tense relationship with the Anfield supporters, became the target of ridicule during the second half.
Not long after coming on as a substitute, the 27-year-old confronted Elliott after the Liverpool midfielder attempted to nutmeg him. Elliott, a lifelong red, responded with a smirk and flashed a ‘30’ gesture, reportedly a mocking reference to Everton’s 30-year wait for a trophy. Curtis Jones was nearby, joining in on the laughter. Watch the incident below:
Getting under opponents' skin - or refusing to be shaken himself - is a core part of Richarlison’s identity, so it was naïve to think he would let Elliott’s antics go unanswered. In true maverick style, the Brazilian has hit back, responding to a TikTok video highlighting their clash.
Richarlison Addresses Elliott's Gesture in Typical Form
The ex-Everton talisman's response is vintage Richarlison
Having played 152 times for Everton, just a short walk across Stanley Park from Anfield, Richarlison knows just what the Merseyside derby means to everyone in the city he once called home, and so he couldn't surely leave Liverpool on Sunday without at least trying to have the last laugh. In the comment section of a TikTok, he commented (see below):
“He wants to reach 30 goals in his career I think”
It goes without saying that Elliott probably won't be too concerned by the comments after winning his second Premier League title with the club he grew up supporting with his dad. But still, the exchange can go down as yet another Richarlison classic. At the time of writing, Elliott, 22, has 21 goals and 30 assists in 188 club appearances for Liverpool, Fulham, and Blackburn Rovers.
