Football finance expert Kieran Maguire has named Tottenham as the "best run club" in the Premier League. However, in praising the club he also delivered a jibe at Spurs' lack of silverware in recent seasons.

Tottenham supporters protested against the club's owners ENIC and chairman Daniel Levy ahead of the win over Manchester United a couple of weeks ago. Banners can often be seen inside Tottenham Hotspur Stadium asking for Levy to leave the club too.

After the defeat to Manchester City on Thursday, the regular banner of '24 seasons, 16 managers, 1 trophy, Time for change' was shown by the TNT Sports cameras.

It has been a season to forget for Spurs, who have suffered horrendous injury problems and are languishing in 13th place in the Premier League table as a result. There could yet be success in the Europa League, with Tottenham taking on AZ Alkmaar in the last 16 next week.

But, off the pitch, everything is as good as it can be. Maguire, a guest on the Rio Ferdinand Presents podcast, named Spurs as the best run club in the league.

He said: "Spurs. They are the most profitable club in the history of the Premier League. By far. Best stadium, lowest wages compared to the money coming in.

"As a business, if I take away my football hat and put on my business hat it's absolutely perfect. And also they don't have to pay any bonuses for winning trophies!"

That jibe at the end had Ferdinand laughing. The former Manchester United defender replied: "Oh my gosh, shots being fired."
