Tottenham are chasing two players as they look to beat the January transfer window to add an attacker. Ange Postecoglou is under serious pressure as we head towards the end of January, with his side 15th in the table after a defeat to relegation-threatened Leicester City.

Spurs have been crippled by injuries this season, and while it hasn’t helped him do his job, the injuries have also likely saved Postecoglou’s job, with Daniel Levy and the club’s board aware of the challenges currently facing the Spurs boss.

With a number of defenders now coming back into the fold after injury, the recruitment efforts are being focused on signing an attacker due to injuries at that end of the pitch. Dominic Solanke and Brennan Johnson are currently out, and Spurs need goals if they are going to turn things around.

Though, they are not the only team who need a new frontman, with Arsenal also struggling to find a new striker, while West Ham and Aston Villa are also among those on the lookout, with the Hammers losing Niclas Fullkrug to injury, while Jhon Duran is on his way out of Villa.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham’s search is currently down to two players, with Bayern Munich’s Mathys Tel, who has also been linked with Arsenal and Chelsea, and AC Milan’s Noah Okafor the current candidates.

“Tottenham will surely bring in one more striker in the final days, one of several clubs keen on Mathys Tel,” Romano tweeted. “Meanwhile, understand Noah Okafor has also been discussed as option with the Swiss striker due to leave AC Milan.”

Tel is a 19-year-old winger who has racked up 60 league appearances for Bayern despite his youth, scoring 12 times. He is a France under-21s international, and there have been suggestions that he is ready for a new challenge. As for Okafor, the 24-time Switzerland international who usually plays on the left wing.

Okafor has made 39 league appearances for AC Milan since arriving from Red Bull Salzburg, scoring seven times from out wide. He scored 25 times in the league for RB Salzburg. The 24-year-old is under contract until 2028, while Tel is under terms until 2029 as things stand.

Tel is valued at £25million currently, with Bayern reportedly asking for at least £40million, while the asking price for Okafor is not clear but he signed for Milan for £12.5million 2023 and his value has since risen to the same amount having previously been lower than the paid fee.
