TBR Football can exclusively reveal that Aston Villa are prepared to re-sign one of their former players on a loan deal this month.
Aston Villa’s interest in Oscar Mingueza from Celta Vigo has reached a point where they have “started talks” to sign him.
Unai Emery will be delighted to know that Villa’s transfer business in the January window is far from done, based on the latest development surrounding the Premier League’s currently eight-placed side.
Aston Villa open to Douglas Luiz loan deal now
TBR Football’s chief correspondent Graeme Bailey has been notified that Aston Villa are open to re-signing Douglas Luiz on loan from Juventus this month.
Luiz was labelled a “disaster” at Juventus, with sources close to the player informing him that he is allowed to leave the Allianz Stadium this January, struggling to impress since making a £42 million (BBC Sport) move last summer.
TBR Football understands that Aston Villa are only considering bringing Douglas Luiz back to Villa Park on a loan deal. Previously, Thiago Motta was committed to improving Luiz but the situation has undergone a drastic change.
Juventus intend to sell the Brazilian international on a loan deal with an obligation to buy but striking such an agreement is unlikely this month.
Tottenham told Douglas Luiz is available to sign
TBR Football have also been informed that Tottenham Hotspur have also been told that Luiz is available on the market.
The former Vasco de Gama dynamo’s current situation at Juventus has been relayed to plenty of his suitors in the Premier League.
Other clubs include Arsenal, who are long-term admirers of Luiz and Manchester City, who have also expressed some interest in re-signing him. Gilberto Silva vouched for Luiz at Arsenal previously as well.
This season, the ex-Aston Villa star has made a mere two starts in all competitions for Juventus.
