Tottenham Hotspur are currently nursing a long list of injuries and have several key players out of action. While some are looking to return to match-day action fairly quickly, others are out for longer periods, leaving Ange Postecoglou with limited options in some areas.

Tottenham’s latest Premier League outing saw them snub Manchester United in a significant 1-0 win, banking a much-needed victory following consecutive FA Cup ad Carabao Cup exits.

It was a bittersweet occasion for Spurs on the injury front. After seeing welcoming back the likes of James Maddison and Guglielmo Vicario, three new fitness concerns were raised during Sunday’s home clash. Following the latest injury updates from Postecoglou, here’s a full rundown of Tottenham’s absences and when each player could be expected to return.

Son Heung-min

Son was taken off against United in the latter stages of the match with an apparent knock. The forward, similar to Rodrigo Bentancur and winter recruit Kevin Danso, is not expected to be out for long based on the manager’s comments.

“They all got sort of knocks. I don't think it is anything significant. But the beauty of it now is we can actually get them to recover instead of trying to patch them up and throw them out [onto the pitch] again midweek. I think from what I’ve heard, knocks all three of them but they should be fine.”

Estimated return date: Ipswich Town (22 February)

Rodrigo Bentancur

Bentancur was also taken off late in the game against United but with no midweek matches coming up, the gap could be enough for him to come back to face Ipswich Town at the weekend.

Estimated return date: Ipswich Town (22 February)

Kevin Danso

Postecoglou provided the same update for Son, Bentancur and Danso after the latter was replaced by Archie Gray with a little more than ten minutes to go on Sunday.

Estimated return date: Ipswich Town (22 February)

Micky van de Ven

Postecoglou provided an update on Van de Ven’s absence since featuring against Elfsborg in the Europa League. The defender hasn’t appeared in the Premier League since December.

“With Micky we made a decision, and I was certainly the catalyst of that, to just have a look at exactly beyond the injury how we can get him back in a good spot. He is doing some different things and working with some different people,” the manager said on Friday.

“It’s not as much about the injury as about the mechanics of him because we want him back and we want him back in a real good space. He is training and feels really good. We are still confident his return is imminent but we want to make sure we get it right.”

Estimated return date: March

Cristian Romero

Romero has been out for a significant amount of time at this point but returned to training last month. However, the manager continues to monitor the situation as he doesn’t want to risk rushing the Argentine back too soon.

“With Romero, it has been a healing issue. The injury hadn’t healed up as quickly as we thought it would which, again, we could have pushed him and risked it but we have waited to give him a bit more time,” Postecoglou said. “We will get some clear indication as to his healing and depending on that his return could be imminent as well.”

Estimated return date: March

Dominic Solanke

After picking up a knee injury during training, Postecoglou has predicted a ‘two or three week’ period before the forward returns to action. The same timeline has been quoted for Van de Ven and Romero.

Estimated return date: March

Radu Dragusin

After suffering an ACL injury and undergoing surgery, Dragusin will be out for the remainder of the season.

Estimated return date: Unknown

Timo Werner

Werner is reportedly close to returning to action, having missed out against United. Postecoglou has confirmed he is ‘pretty close’ to being available for selection again.

Estimated return date: Ipswich Town (22 February)

Richarlison

Following the return of Maddison and Brennan Johnson, Postecoglou followed up with a similar return timeframe for Richarlison.

“Richy, again, similar to Madders and Brennan, who had similar calf injuries, depending on how he recovers – Madders bounced back really quickly, it’s only been two and a bit weeks for him, Brennan’s been three weeks - we’re looking at the same time frame for Richy.”

Estimated return date: March
