Tottenham are currently dealing with an injury crisis, with the latest setback coming in the form of Wilson Odobert, who is set for an extended period on the sidelines due to a significant hamstring issue.

Odobert, who joined Spurs in August in a £30 million move from Burnley, initially showed promise in the early part of the season.

The French winger made a strong impression during his debut in a 4-0 home win against Everton, highlighting the potential he could bring to the team. However, he has faced multiple injuries which has hindered his Spurs career so far.

Odobert first picked up a hamstring injury which kept him out for seven games. He returned briefly to play against AZ Alkmaar in the UEFA Europa League but picked ended up picking a thigh issue, which has kept him out of action since late last month. Ange shared an update on the player’s injury confirming that it is a serious one.

The club has now confirmed on X that Odobert has undergone surgery on his right hamstring last Saturday.

While this procedure is a crucial step in resolving his recurring issue, it means an extended recovery period as he works toward regaining full fitness.

The club shared the update, indicating that Odobert will be closely monitored by the medical team to assess his progress and determine when he can rejoin training.

The statement read:

“We can confirm that Wilson Odobert underwent surgery to his right hamstring yesterday (Saturday, November 16). The 19-year-old will continue to be closely monitored by our medical team to determine when he can return to training.”

This will come as a major setback for Tottenham who are dealing with an injury crisis in the attack. Heung-min Son has missed several games due to fitness issues, while Richarlison also picked up a serious injury against Aston Villa which will keep him out for a long time.

With a challenging set of fixtures ahead, including one against Manchester City on the weekend, the absence of these players will add pressure on maintaining squad depth and competitive performance.
