Tottenham’s Premier League campaign continues to go from bad to worse, and Opta’s supercomputer has now offered a grim prediction on where the Lilywhites will finish.

Tottenham’s 5-1 loss at Anfield on Sunday was their 19th defeat of the season, which is the joint-most games Spurs have now lost in a 38-game Premier League campaign.

If Tottenham Hotspur lose one of their four remaining games, it will be the most losses that the club have ever posted in any Premier League campaign.

Additionally, Spurs need eight more points to surpass their lowest-ever points tally in the Premier League era, which stands at 44.

Opta’s supercomputer predicts Tottenham’s final points tally

Opta has crunched the numbers and predicted the number of points each club will end up with, and they expect Spurs to set a new record.

The data analysis platform predicts that Ange Postecoglou’s men will end the season with 42 points, making it their worst-ever tally in the three and a half decades since the start of the Premier League.

That tally is expected to see Tottenham finish in 16th place, with only West Ham and the three relegated clubs behind them in the standings.

Spurs’ sole focus will be on the Europa League

While Postecoglou will want to avoid this unwanted record, his priority will be to keep his key players fresh for the Europa League encounters.

That means that he will continue rotating his squad in the Premier League, with further losses thus appearing inevitable for the Lilywhites.

However, all of Tottenham’s struggles in the league will be forgotten if the side can somehow lift the Europa League trophy against all odds.

Somehow, Ange Postecoglou could go down in history as the man who simultaneously ended Tottenham’s infamous 17-year trophy drought, while also leading them to their worst Premier League season in history. It’s a funny old game.
