Today, transfer deadline day, has been a day of reversals. First there was the news that Ange Postecoglou convinced Mathys Tel to join Tottenham on loan, with final details to be worked out yet later today. Now there’s another reversal — according to The Athletic, Spurs are back in negotiations with Chelsea for a loan for central defender Axel Disasi.
Previously Disasi had said he did not want to come to Spurs, even though a loan between Spurs and Chelsea had been agreed. Now it seems he might have changed his mind? We don’t know yet what the loan conditions would be like — “wet” loan, “dry” loan, loan fees, etc. but we know that the clubs are still talking with a few hours left to go in the window.
Disasi is nobody’s idea of a perfect signing, but he’s a warm body and has the skills to be an asset in a ball-playing Ange-Ball defensive line. If he comes, I doubt he gets a ton of minutes, but he could be a useful rotation option so long as Spurs are in four competitions. He’d join alongside Kevin Danso, adding two quite serviceable defensive arrow to Postecoglou’s quiver.
I have no idea whether this will actually happen — it’s Deadline Day! — but it’s apparently still a thing. Now which rejected move can we bring back next? I vote for Desire Doue.
