It’s contract talk central at Tottenham Hotspur this week with rumours of negotiations underway for both current first team stars and potential acquisitions.

Spurs have been readily linked with Lille midfielder and England international Angel Gomes, whose contract with the Ligue 1 outfit is up at the end of the season. Gomes is expected to complete a move to the Premier League as a free agent with no shortage of suitors.

West Ham are known to be desperate to land the former Manchester United man but reportedly fear that Spurs stand more of a chance, despite the Hammers already offering a contract. Meanwhile, GiveMeSport this week has claimed that there could be crunch talks on the horizon with defender Cristian Romero amid reported Real Madrid interest.

LondonWorld looks at which first team Tottenham Hotspur players are also in need of contract talks or else they will quit the club as free agents at the end of the 2024/25 campaign.

Tottenham Hotspur players out of contract

Mathys Tel

The Bayern Munich forward signed for Spurs on loan at the end of the window in February but the club does hold the option for a permanent transfer. That move would cost the club £45 million if activated - if not, Tel will return to Germany.

Ange Postecoglou said: "He will play a significant part in our end to the season for sure and beyond. He wants to make an impact and I expect him to do that. He will be a Tottenham player. I think he will show everyone he will be a Tottenham player in the next six months. I didn't bring him here for six months."

Timo Werner

Tottenham Hotspur agreed a deal with Bundesliga side RB Leipzig in May to extend Werner's loan another season, keeping him at the club until the end of the 2024/25 campaign. The forward first arrived at the club in January 2024 and Spurs did hold the option to make his move permanent for £15 million over the summer - that option is still there for next year, but is now lowered to £8.5 million. It is not expected that the club will use that.

Ben Davies

Ben Davies has made a huge 350 appearances for Spurs but has struggled for Premier League minutes this season, a recent knock the latest blow. He remains an important squad player and has been a regular in the Europa League.

The 31-year-old signed a contract extension with the club in 2022, which is due to expire this summer. The club holds the option for another 12 months and are expected to use that, but confirmation is yet to be seen.

Sergio Reguilon

The 27-year-old had become somewhat of a forgotten figure in North London. Reguilon made three Premier League appearances in December and January but now hasn’t played since the meeting with Leicester City on January 26.

Given his involvement, it would be somewhat of a surprise to see the former Real Madrid man awarded a new deal in North London. The player signed a five-year contract in 2020 but there had been talk of a potential contract termination before that date to allow him to seek a new venture as a free agent, according to The Sunday Mirror.

Spurs goalkeeping duo set for North London exit

Fraser Forster

Forster had been expected to quit Tottenham Hotspur in January according to Tottenham News, having fallen down the shot-stopper pecking order. That didn’t happen but the goalkeeper’s contract, which was extended in December 2023, expires this summer. That could point to a free transfer.

Speaking at the time of that extension, the former Celtic and Southampton man said: "I have loved my time here so far and I am delighted to extend that. It is fantastic working for a new manager. Everyone loves him. You can see what we are producing and it is great to be a part of that."

Alfie Whiteman

The 26-year-old is yet to play this season but has featured on the bench in every Europa League fixture since AS Roma, as well as against Newcastle United in the league due to Forster's illness. Whiteman only has one first team appearance to his name for Spurs, coming in a 2020 Europa League match against Ludogorets - which the side won 4-0. The goalkeeper extended his contract with the club in February 2023, signing on until 2025.

In other news, Spurs star Son Heung-min was left ‘heartbroken’ by an injury sustained by a South Korea teammate this week.
