Tottenham are back in action on Thursday night when they face London rivals Chelsea with a chance to pick up a rare statement win. Spurs have disappointed this season, stuck in the bottom half and with no real shot at landing a European spot via the Premier League.

The Europa League remains an avenue to Europe, but Tottenham need to step up their game and establish some momentum. Chelsea would be a good place to start, and as final touches are placed on the preparations for that one, we have rounded up all the latest news and transfer rumours surrounding Spurs.

New contract agreed

Tottenham’s talented young midfielder Callum Olusesi has reportedly decided to reject Bayern Munich to sign a new contract with the North London club. According to Football Insider, the 18-year-old has penned a new big-money deal - or at least relatively speaking - to remain with Spurs, penning a three-year extension.

Bayern, Ajax, Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain are all said to have expressed an interest before Olusesi decided to agree to a new deal. The youngster is now tied down, and he will be focusing on attempting to break into first team plans.

Eze price tag

Spurs have long been linked with a move for Crystal Palace and England star Eberechi Eze, but it will not be a cheap deal to pull off. According to Fichajes, Tottenham will have to pay £60million to get a deal done this summer, with the Eagles not likely to strike a player friendly deal.

Palace face a real possibility of losing Marc Guehi this summer due to the defender being in the final year of his contract, while Jean-Philippe Mateta has also been linked with an exit. The Eagles won’t want to lose more than one or two players as they look to build on this season’s improvements, and Eze is likely to be an expensive deal as a result for any club interested.

Cristian Romero exit claim

Romero has been linked with a move away from Tottenham ahead of the summer, with Real Madrid and others having been linked with a move. According to The Boot Room, Romero has made it clear to Spurs that he wants to leave the club, viewing a more ambitious future that Spurs currently look as though they can offer.

It’s claimed Tottenham have stopped contract talks as a result, with a sale potentially on the table this summer. It’s claimed Romero has told his representatives that a move to Spain is his preferred choice.

Postecoglou on Bergvall and more

Spurs boss Postecoglou has provided an update on Lucas Bergvall’s recovery from illness, while also speaking about the good condition in which most players returned from the international break.

He said: “Lucas is fine. He had a bit of an illness, picked up a bug, but he got back at the weekend and got straight back into training." He added: “It was a good international break for us. Firstly, obviously no-one picked up anything, which is important, but also some guys got some game time which we felt was going to be important, guys like (Cristian) Romero, Destiny (Udogie), Matty Tel, Wilson (Odobert) and all these guys who missed a lot of football recently all got some good game time. The ones who played all did relatively well, they're all back and we’ve had a strong training group in the last couple of days.”
