Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly set to extend the contract of Ben Davies, whose current deal is set to run out at the end of the season.

Experienced Spurs man continues to be Mr Reliable

Ben Davies might not have received the appreciation he deserves from some Spurs fans over the course of his Tottenham career, but that is now seemingly starting to change, with a lot of supporters now recognising his value.

He was a key player for the likes of Mauricio Pochettino, Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte, and while he is no longer a regular starter under Ange Postecoglou, he has continued to be a very useful backup.

The Welshman has impressed every time he has played as a centre-half in the current system, with his latest display at the Etihad Stadium encapsulating the reliability and calmness he offers.

Tottenham intend to extend Davies’ contract

Although Davies’ current deal runs out next summer, The Athletic have now revealed that Spurs have an option to extend his contract by one more season.

The report says that the Lilywhites intend to take up that option, thus tying the 31-year-old down until the summer of 2026.

Ange Postecoglou is thought to be planning on keeping the veteran defender at the club next season, which will be the former Swansea man’s 12th season at Spurs.
