Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for Fiorentina full-back Michael Kayode once again.
The 20-year-old right-back was heavily linked with the move to the Premier League at the start of the season. Tottenham wanted to sign the player in the summer and they came forward to secure his signature as well. However, the deal did not go through because of the asking price. The Italian club were holding out for a fee of around €30 million back then and Tottenham decided it was too expensive for them.
According to a report from Firenze Viola, the situation has now changed, and the Italian outfit would be willing to sell Kayode for a knockdown price in January. The report states that the asking price could now be halved and the player could be available for a fee of around €15 million.
Kayode could prove to be a quality acquisition at that price and it remains to be seen whether Tottenham decide to come forward with an offer to sign him next month. They could certainly use more quality and depth in the defensive unit and Kayode could be a long-term asset.
He is likely to improve with coaching and experience and he could be an understudy to Pedro Porro for now. The Portuguese defender has been linked with Real Madrid in recent months and Kayode could be his long-term replacement if he moves on in the near future.
The opportunity to play in the Premier League could be quite exciting for the young defender and regular exposure to English could accelerate his development. Tottenham have an exciting project and a talented squad. The 20-year-old will certainly be attracted to the idea of joining them.
It will be interesting to see how the situation develops in January.
