Tottenham are optimistic about securing the services of Bournemouth ace Dominic Solanke.
The North London club have been on the lookout for a new number nine since the start of the transfer window. While they have been linked with some top-quality forwards, Spurs haven’t been able to sign one yet. With less than two weeks left for the new Premier League season to get underway, Ange Postecoglou’s team are closing in on the signature of a new striker.
According to a report from The Times, Tottenham are confident about signing Bournemouth star Dominic Solanke in time for the start of the new campaign. Since joining the Cherries for an initial £19 million from Liverpool, the English international has done a decent job in front of goal. The 26-year-old enjoyed his best season last time out as he scored a total of 21 goals, 19 of those came in the English top flight.
His performances didn’t go unnoticed and Solanke looks set for a big move. Tottenham have been linked with quite a few forwards since the departure of Harry Kane last summer. While they haven’t signed a long-term replacement yet, they are confident about signing the former Liverpool star who has a £65 million release clause in his contract.
Bournemouth are unlikely to lower their demands as the Merseyside club owns 20% of his future sale. The North London club are optimistic as they already have the green light from the player and believe the deal could be partly funded by Richarlison’s potential exit amidst interest from Saudi Arabia. If Tottenham meet the Cherries’ demands, Solanke will become a club-record signing.
