Tottenham are prepared to activate Eberechi Eze’s release clause to secure his transfer from Crystal Palace.

The North London club are looking for ways to further reinforce their squad ahead of next season. Ange Postecoglou wants to ensure he has the needed depth and quality to take the next step with Tottenham. According to a report from talkSPORT, Spurs are keen on signing Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace and they are ready to trigger his release clause.

Eze has had a sensational rise since joining the Eagles back in 2020. He was involved in 31 matches last season and ended up contributing towards 17 goals (11 goals, 6 assists). The attacking midfielder’s consistent performances have helped him secure a place in Gareth Southgate’s squad for the Euros.

While he still has three years left on his deal at Selhurst Park, the Eagles will find it hard to keep hold of him given the amount of interest in his signature. Spurs are the ones keen on signing him as they look to add more firepower to their attack. Eze could be a great addition to their squad as he can compete with James Maddison for a place in the starting XI and can also feature on the flanks when needed.

The English international is believed to have a release clause of around £60 million in his current contract and Spurs will look to trigger it once they are able to offload a few of their players and make room in their wage bill.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Emerson Royal are two players who are expected to leave the club in the coming days. Their departure could given them the needed financial aid to bring Eze to the club.
