Tottenham Hotspur are planning to offload Yves Bissouma during the summer transfer window

Tottenham Hotspur are anticipating a busy summer transfer window after an underwhelming 2024/25 season.

Ange Postecoglou has failed to build on a positive first season in North London thanks to a myriad of injury problems. It has had a huge impact on his second season, with Spurs out of domestic cup competitions and currently in the bottom half of the Premier League table.

Injury issues and suspensions also opened the door for several players to walk into the side and perform. While young talents such as Archie Gray, Lucas Bergvall and Djed Spence made an impression, a few senior players failed to make the most of the chances. One of them is Yves Bissouma.

Tottenham signed Yves Bissouma in a £25million plus add-ons deal from Brighton and Hove Albion in the summer of 2022. The Malian penned a four-year deal at White Hart Lane, arriving from Brighton as an exciting combative presence in the middle of the park. However, he has failed to live up to the lofty expectations at the North London club.

The 28-year-old has struggled to maintain the standards and consistency levels at Tottenham—both on and off the pitch. Now, according to an exclusive report from GIVEMESPORT, Spurs are exploring the possibility of cashing in Bissouma when the transfer window reopens in the summer.

The African enforcer is into the final 16 months of his current contract at Tottenham. Regardless of that, the club are not entertaining the prospect of handing the midfielder an extension, making it apparent that they are increasingly likely to sell him at the end of the season.

The aforementioned report adds that Bissouma is about to be among the big names on the chopping block after Postecoglou has grown impatient due to his hugely inconsistent performances and injury concerns during this season. It does not look like the Hotspur Way chiefs are planning to hold contract talks with the Mali international despite attempting to secure Rodrigo Bentancur’s future with fresh terms.

Famous Tottenham fan and Change For Spurs podcaster Billie T also suggested that Bissouma should be moved on in the summer for Bentancur’s potential new deal to make sense.

If we are to move forward as a club and start competing for trophies, the club has to be ruthless and move on underperforming, high-wage earners from the roster. Following his failure to live up to the high expectations and become a regular first-team player at Spurs, the club bosses would do a good job of getting a decent fee from Bissouma’s sale in the summer of 2025.
