The North Londoners have been vying for a new centre back for a while now, and Daniel Levy got to know the importance of having depth in the position this season, given how the North Londoners have suffered highly because of a lack of depth and quality at the heart of defence, and the chiefs at Hotspur Way would be looking to ensure that this doesn’t come out to be a problem again next season.

This means a marquee defensive arrival in the upcoming summer window. It looks more probable now as Tottenham Hotspur are in the race to sign highly rated Everton central defender Jarrad Branthwaite, Caught Offside.

Jarrad Branthwaite is one of the best… if not the best

Branthwaite has shown the capability to operate in a high-intensity environment, and at the moment he is one of the most promising central defensive talents in all of Europe. He has formed a formidable partnership with James Tarkowski at the heart of Everton’s defence and has time and again shown the physical attributes that it takes to succeed in the English top tier, and then you complement that with his frame and speed; it doesn’t only end there; Jarrad also has high technical skills.

But it doesn’t only end there. Coming over to the defensive side of things, he also does possess the ability to contribute on the offensive side of things.

Arsenal icon Ian Wright calls him a “monster” with all the attributes that he possesses. And he is, when you combine both of his defensive and offensive skill sets, it makes him a much appreciated player who can fit perfectly in Ange Postecoglou’s playing style.

Liverpool? Really?

And expectedly, Tottenham won’t be alone in pursuit of his signature. Premier League duo Manchester United and Liverpool are also looking to get their hands on the 22-year-old’s services when the summer transfer window comes around. But that interest from the Reds comes as a surprise, doesn’t it? You don’t usually see players moving to the other side of Merseyside given the renowned rivalry, but it does look like Arne Slot’s side is about to do their best to take him to L4 as they look to offer mighty fees to sign Branthwaite in 2025.

For Tottenham, the pursuit of 22-year-old will be difficult, but if Levy can bring him through the doors at White Hart Lane, he could be an ideal replacement for Cristian Romero if he does conclude a move to Real Madrid. However, that being said, at the moment, everything is speculation, and we still have a long way to go to the summer window.
