Tottenham Hotspur fans have been in one voice thus far this season about youngster Archie Gray, and the teenager has now won Young Player of the Year at the London Football Awards. Let’s take a look at how Spurs fans reacted.

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Archie Gray has been named Young Player of the Year at the London Football Awards.

The 18-year-old saw off competition from Arsenal duo Ethan Nwaneri and Miles Lewis-Skelly, as well as Watford’s Rocco Vata and Crystal Palace’s Romaine Esse, to claim the accolade.

Gray, who joined Spurs from Leeds United last summer, has been one of the club’s most consistent performers this season.

Despite his natural position being in midfield, he has shown incredible adaptability, making 33 appearances across all competitions.

Out of those, he has started 25 matches, with 16 of those coming in an unfamiliar role at centre-back. His versatility has made him a crucial player under Ange Postecoglou.

Ange Postecoglou and Spurs’ faith in Archie Gray

Ange Postecoglou has praised Archie Gray throughout this campaign, often lauding the teenager’s maturity and versatility.

“The way it’s going, never, mate. You know, I was tempted to put him in goal because we were down a fifth goalkeeper.

“No, look, I think whatever happens, and I know people are sort of really keen to sort of put him in there, I think the experience he’s had this year is going to be outstanding for him and outstanding for us.

“He’s taken on every challenge we’ve thrown at him, not flustered, got on with it, performed at a really good level, contributed to the team all as an 18-year-old in his first year in the Premier League.

“He’ll get to where he needs to get to in good time, but this period here, I think, you know, is going to be enormously beneficial for him.”
